TJ (left) and Eiji (right) from the fourth chapter car scene.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
TJ slides his back down against the wall and drapes his elbows over his bent knees as he breathes out a heavy sigh. His sweat sliding down the center of his chest from beneath his now blood splattered white shirt causes him to chuckle as his head is filled with a heady fog. He wanted to stay in that state of euphoria for as long as he could, the smell of iron and decay already setting in, he inhales deeply, savoring the pungent reek of death as he can almost taste it.
It was the equivalent of taking any drug, drinking any mind altering substance, it was a high, a form of inebriation, and he was definitely a lush for this toxicity.
His mind does the honor of replaying the scenes in his head as if it were a movie playing out before him. He can almost still hear the sounds of the pathetic girl desperately clinging to life, how she had fought so hard until the end to hold on. It baffled him honestly, how there was no sign of him letting up, and yet she clung to hope that he would, that he would leave her to live. It was the same with everyone he did this with, how strong the human psyche could be, it was marvelous and grand to try and comprehend how they could feel.
The norm would be for another to fear death, naturally, the end of a living organism would be something that would be avoided. And yet as he thought back on it himself, he couldn't imagine if he would be fearful in the same state. He had also never been in that sort of situation where someone wished to torture and tear him apart at the seams, literally and figuratively.
"TJ." Eiji calls rather quietly, not wanting to completely dispel his friend's moment, but too excited to wait any longer.
Gaining those narrowed eyes, Eiji smiles and waves for him to come over. His hands now covered in gloves and dripping of the coagulated syrupy mess that spread out around him. TJ inhales deeply and pushes up with his legs, using the wall to brace him so he can right himself having not trusted his legs to support him just yet. He had wanted to succumb to that bliss but his intrigue got the better of him of what Eiji had created this time. He walks over lazily and shakes his hands to get off any spare mess from his antics. His shoes splash with each step through the crimson lake that was beginning to settle into the ground below. Eiji looks over his shoulder to TJ and then stands up, fanning out an arm to present his painted work on the concrete. The drying blood taking on different colors, black in the thicker areas, brown in moderate and a stained burnt rust color for the thinner portions. The image of different variations of flowers scattered around the lifeless heap in the center the once resembled a female human, now looking like a skinned and gutted pig. TJ hums in appreciation of the art and looks to the side to see the pile of discarded organs and skin piled up.
"It was a lot cleaner not having to maneuver around your pin cushions." Eiji comments and gestures back to the contorted and broken body of his victim.
Her bones were cracked and worked to protrude up in different directions, nearly unrecognizable.
"Did you French style cut her ribs?" Eiji asks incredulously looking back over his shoulder again in slight amusement.
"I was curious...." TJ mumbles still looking down at his friend's piece before twisting his torso to look back at the dismembered body and shrugs slightly with his admittance.
"Well... she would be a beautiful rack of lamb." Eiji hums again and looks up to the blaring lights overhead behind time aged tempered glass. "We should clean up and get out of here..." He voices almost too quiet to be heard, loathing the end of their time there.
TJ exhales deeply and nods in agreement, he pivots out to collect their discarded items around the space that he wished to keep. Eiji returns to the duffle bag while removing his gloves and tossing them over his shoulder, digging through the bag he produces the ziplocked black bag and opens it to retrieve the metal canteen of liquid sloshing inside. He tips it back and forth in his hand to listen to the viscosity of the contents and stands to look over the room one last time. He glances to TJ removing his t-shirt and tossing it aside indifferently. Eiji rolls his eyes and unscrews the top of the canteen, sprinkling the dark fluid over the areas of bloodshed and the remains of their dolls.
He pays close attention to cover the majority of each corpse and the splatters though not too much. Turning he looks to TJ standing by the door with the dufflebag slung over his shoulder with his jacket on and zipped up, the dried crusting red splash across his face with various smears being none of his concern for his expression having returned to that dead pan gaze of disinterest. Eiji follows him out and looks over his shoulder as TJ takes a zippo light from his pocket, sparks the flint and tosses it into the room, he quickly closes the door as the contents of the room ignite with a force that helps push the door shut.
"What was that? It smelled like gasoline but was black?" Eiji inquires while shaking the canteen in his hand.
"Oh I did an oil change on my car, and found out that it was highly flammable. I thought it would be good to use as an accelerant. We'll find out when we check back here next time." TJ shrugs and adjusts the strap on his shoulder beginning to follow Eiji down the hallway of the building.
The lights flicker overhead every half second as they make their way back to the main room that hosts what was once a control room. TJ kicks at the generator operating in the corner off of fuel as it sputters noisily, the force causing it to correct and quiet, stabilizing the power source for the hallway lights. Eiji sets the canteen down on the panel looking to the monitor set up in the center of the desk, checking the progression of the fire now turning their evidence into ashes in a blaze.
TJ had been the one to find this location, it was nearly three hours out from where they both lived in the middle of the desert. He had explained to Eiji that in highschool this was a place that all of the degenerates would go to for parties on the weekends. A lot of drinking, drug use and any general sin that you could think of. The location was known as 'The Bunker' for that's typically what it was. It had been a basecamp back in the day for testing on small bombs and whatever else the country's military unit saw fit for it. But due to the water quality of the area as well as the instability of the foundation, they had abandoned the base and built another one several miles away. This one was far too close to the residents as well, there was a history that whatever they were testing had gotten into the water and even carried on the wind, despite the spot being underground to effect the neighboring town. Which was more or less, thirty minutes away. But even the younger generations had abandoned this place because of an incident that occurred, a couple had shown up to the Bunker for a party and was confronted by a rather jealous ex. Being as intoxicated as he was, he had left the party and returned wielding a gun in hand. He didn't hesitate to shoot the couple in the back of the head, proceeded to gun down everyone in the enclosure that they were just in, and then shot himself upwards through the jaw; failing at taking his own life. But now there was a rumor that the place was haunted, and their screams could still be heard if you came onto the compound. Eiji had laughed at that last bit when TJ told the story, because now they were putting rumors to proof had anyone come to the place.
With a satisfied breath Eiji turns off the monitor and begins to unplug the devices, packing them away in a separate bag that they had brought for their equipment. TJ sets the duffle bag down and picks up his backpack from beside the desk pulling out a couple of bottles of water and some rags. He pours one bottles contents onto the rags and passes one to Eiji without looking as he wipes down his own face. Eiji taking the second rag mimics TJ and cleans his face and hands off. He casts a quick glance to TJ and then back down to the sullied rag in his hands.
"This was for that girl right? The one you told me about?" Eiji asks quietly now passing the rag back to TJ to dispose of.
TJ looks up to the ceiling in thought and rocks his head back in forth. Half of that was true, but the other half was that he was in it for the fun of it. They were easier targets because of their personalities. He had spent weeks following them and had been able to pick up a general idea of their party lifestyle. It helped that they thought that they were cute, when in fact they were terribly hideous through and through. Without the thick mask that they would apply, there was nothing special about their appearances. But he hated the way that they carried themselves and wanted to be rid of their existence.
"Yeah. I guess you could say that." TJ admits with a shrug and finishes packing up the rest of their belongings.
Lastly he turns off the generator and unhooks it to carry back up the flight of stairs that would lead them to above ground, and fresh air. Eiji leads the way with a flashlight in hand and opens the hatch to reveal the early morning light as the sun begins to rise. Clambering out they check their surroundings and Eiji bends to the task of chaining and locking the hatch.
"Weren't you going to be taking her though?" Eiji inquires again, having not receiving all of the details, he wasn't sure what TJ was thinking at that time.
He had never encountered his friend to show any form of consideration or traits to harbor any attachment towards anyone, besides the chosen four. This new addition was something that wasn't expected and it fed the curiosity growing within him.
"When are you going to introduce me to her?" Eiji inquires as they reach the chain link fence that would supposedly keep out intruders, but it was now just an extra obstacle for someone either trying to get in or someone trying to escape; not that they had the slightest chance at that anyways.
He sets to pulling up the loose fencing for TJ to duck under, still carrying the heavy generator and passes through himself, for extra measure he turns back to the fence and applies another chain and lock that looked as if they had already been worn rusty with age. Eiji paid attention to the littlest details, always covering their tracks. They walk down the road a bit further to a large growing of brush and TJ sets the generator down, he begins to move away the branches to uncover his car hidden within the shadows perfectly and pops the trunk with his keys that he had produced from his backpack side pocket. They set to putting their equipment in the back. TJ kicks off his shoes and shrugs off his jacket to change into a pair of his regular sneakers and a different hoodie to be decent from at least the waist up shall they have the need to roll the windows down.
"You wish to meet her?" TJ finally asks as they settle into their seats inside of the car and begin to pull away.
"Mmhmm. I'm curious to know what kind of person she is, and why she seems to have you interested in her." Eiji responds softly though his eyes flitting to the two phones sat together in the cupholder.
Without TJ noticing for the purpose of keeping his eyes on the road, he plucks up the device belonging to his friend and decides to go through it during their drive on the way home, which would definitely give him enough time to read the text history at least of this girl, as well as anyone else he had been speaking with. He already knew the protocol, if the number was unsaved, it was more than likely that they belonged to some prior victims when he started to work out his plan. They both liked the game of 'cat and mouse' when they picked someone to be their next masterpieces; it added to the suspense that would build up over time.
9:07 PM
Cyren: Teej.. I haven't heard from you in a while, are you doing alright?
11:13 PM
Cyren: You must be sleeping already, but I have some free time, I was wondering if maybe we could hang out again? Or go to lunch maybe? That's if you're not busy... just let me know, ok?
Eiji hums to himself and looks out the car window having read the new messages after having read the entirety of their conversations, which didn't give much away because she preferred to spend time with TJ rather than texting. Which was already different from how most women handled any form of their relationships. He drums his fingers on the edges of the rectangular phone and shifts in his seat to face TJ. He holds up the phone, deciding to out himself for snooping and catching TJ's attention in the single wave from his peripheral.
"Hm?" TJ hums out seemingly not upset in the slightest bit and rolls in his bottom lip to chew on, returning his attention to the road.
"I think she likes you." Eiji bluntly states while setting the phone back in the cupholder and retrieving his own phone this time.
"What?" TJ's eyebrows knit together though his eyes don't leave the path as they enter onto a main road that will lead them through the neighboring towns and eventually to the freeway that would take them back home. "I don't think so..."
Eiji exhales deeply and leans his seat back to begin going through his own phone, mostly pulling up social media apps and checking various notifications. He looks out the window suddenly and then returns his attention to his phone. Though TJ catches the subtleties from the corner of his eye. He sniffles and rubs at his nose before glancing back at his friend now reclined comfortably.
"Can I stay with you today?" Eiji prompts immediately, as if having planned for TJ to look back at him and offers a sly smile.

It was so dark, it was always so dark, and completely devoid of any sounds. It always started like this. He knew that it was going to be a rough one, there was nothing else that came easy after that long expanse of emptiness. He waits, anticipates what's to come. He can hear his breathing becoming louder, his heartbeat now threatening to blow his eardrums.
'It's coming...' He thinks shakily to himself, bracing for the impact.
The sound of claws scratching against a hardened surface marking the beginning. It echoes ominously through the pitch blackness surrounding him. Spinning around on his heel he comes face to face with the crazed eyes of a woman, blood pouring from her jawless mouth, her teeth sharpened to fine points that he was sure could easily rip him to pieces. He gasps unexpectedly and feels his footing give way underneath him, sending him into an endless fall that spins chaotically.
"Hey."
He turns to the familiar voice in his free fall, his eyes searching frantically for the source that he knew. Nearing the bottom now, he can see him there, standing as if in a spotlight. With a wave of relief he lets out a shuddering breath, though the moment he feels relief, the realization that he was going to crash into him at this speed would surely kill them both. He fights to scream any form of warning out, though his voice faltering him, unable to make a single sound. He tries again and again, becoming more and more worried, becoming more and more fearful.
"You're leaving?"
His eyes snap open wide on him before him, the look in his eyes sad, though his face still as stone. He always looked that way, but his eyes.... His eyes never looked like that.
Is that how he would look? Is that how he would be, if he left? Did he really care?
He blinks in the soft lighting starring up at the ceiling, uncertain of where he was, why he was there, this wasn't his room. It takes him only a moment longer to remember where he was, and why he was there. He focuses on the soft rise and fall of his friend's back breathing softly underneath his head. He sits up slightly and looks up and behind him to TJ laid out across the bed width wise and fast asleep on his stomach. They had collapsed on the bed after a shower and getting dressed to sleep for bit after the long night out. He exhales deeply and resumes his previous position of using TJ as his human headrest and glances around the room at the orderly set up. Across from the bed was a dresser with a TV positioned on it. Beside that a desk that held various books and a laptop. To the far left was a closet that was left open displaying the many hoodies and t-shirts hanging, including a collection of shoes and a locked safebox that he already knew the contents in. Beside the large bed was a nightstand that held their phones that were on chargers at the minute. TJ's bed was in the corner of the room below the window that faced the front of the house. He listened carefully for any sign of the roommate stirring within the house before carefully getting up as to not disturb the dark haired male still deep in his own dreams.
Sitting on the edge of the bed at the foot, he rubs over his face and takes a few deep breaths before looking up. He blinks immediately having thought that he had seen someone sitting under the desk. He shakes his head and rises from the bed, making his way to exit briskly from the room. He navigates his way into the kitchen and locates the tea kettle, starting on some hot water.
He had been here several times, but it was always a little unnerving to be the first one awake. He didn't understand why TJ wouldn't just live with him instead. Nothing against Kaeden, but he knew that it would be easier for his friend to be himself had they been together. Where as here, he had to be the one wearing the mask all this time. He actually quite liked Kaeden. The guy wasn't afraid to speak his mind, there was no room for lies, which would work best with TJ. And he was rather entertaining, very likable to the two of them. Eiji could remember when he had first met Kaeden, and it was by happenstance, but their personalities were agreeable, so he didn't question it further.
As he waited for the water to boil, he had decided to set up
