Adeline Santiago's POV

"You did what?!" I ask, my eyes spilling with laughing tears.

Ben Lawrence sits with Matéo and I at our table, grinning sheepishly at me as he tells me, what happened in the previous lesson.

We've all known him, apart from of course Matéo, from the beginning of 10th grade.

He's always been a bit awkward and geeky, so we let him do his own thing.

He laughs, but then cuts himself off abruptly, when something catches his eye.

Isabelle and James walk towards our table and they sit down.

"Benjamin" James greets.

James touches fists with Matéo and kisses my forehead.

"Hi Isabelle" Ben sighs almost dreamily, staring at Belle.

James smirks at him, but says nothing.

So, that's why he wanted to sit here!

I knew it!

He has liked Belle since back in the day!

I knew they had feelings for each other!

Isabelle smiles back at him.

"Hey, Benjamin" she teases him.

"I... Hi" he stutters.

She scoots her chair closer to his.

He grins at her and rests his arm on the shoulders rest behind the back of her chair, relaxing.

Matéo, James and I all pretend to have a conversation with each other, but we are all fully listening to Ben and Isabelle's conversation, like all of my aunts and uncles at a family reunion.

"It's been a minute. What have you been on?" He asks.

"Just chilling" She says, leaning towards him a little.

"Walk with me?" He asks lowering his voice.

"Er... sure" she whispered.

It's her turn to get nervous.

He grabs her hand and pulls her out of the cafeteria.

James and I squeal, but Matéo sits back as if contemplating.

"What's wrong with you?" I ask him, stuffing food in my face.

"I got played twice! In one day!" He exclaimed.

"You deserve it, for playing that horrible joke on him!" I respond sternly.

He pouts adorably at me.

"Aw, don't get angry at me!" He says, cuddling me like a child.

"Matéo..." I start, but he starts to kiss my neck gently, causing my train of thought to fly right off of the tracks.

I have got to be sterner with him.

"Matéo, guest room for a week" I tell him pulling away.

He already knows what that implies.

"What, why?!" He gasps.

"Because actions have consequences!" I mutter with a small grin on my face.

"No! That's so unfair! It's not like I put my life or his life in danger, this time!" He whines, holding my hand.

This time?!

"A month!" I retort.

"Never!" He scowls.

"Two months!" I counter.

"James?!" Matéo tries.

James glares at him, his mouth full of noodles, making him look so ridiculous I nearly burst out laughing.

"Listen to your wife!" James responds.

"What?! James! You are meant to be on my side!" He groans

"Have you met my mother?!" James asks, pointing his fork at Matéo as if he is crazy.

"Saturday will be the day!" Matéo sighs, leaning back into his chair and rubbing his temples.

Aw! The poor baby is stressed out!

Maybe I could...

No!

I have to be firm!

"Yeah, suck it up!" James exclaimed. "Pun intended"

"Belle, once we retrieve her from planet mush, will also be there with some of her brothers, so don't fuck this one up!" He tells Matéo.

Before, Matéo can respond, I cut in.

"Her brothers?!" I squeak.

"Yes?" James says slowly.

I nearly faint in my seat.

"What's so bad about her brothers?" Matéo asked suspiciously.

"Nothing!" James and I say in unison.

"Babe, you have got to tell 'em all that you're pregnant sooner or later" he said.

I know exactly who he means by all.

"I know I do" I mutter.

"What?" Matéo asks, unhelpfully.

"Ask anymore question, during this lunch break and I'll make it 4 months!" I snap.

He looks as if he's about to cry and now I feel bad.

I lean forward and peck him on the lips.

"Sorry baby, I'm a little stressed" I admit.

His eyes widened and he holds my stomach, grabbing a lot of people's attention.

"Noo! No stress! It's bad for my baby!" He says.

I giggle at him.

"Matéo, get up and gimme a kiss" I say and he sits up abruptly.

"If I kiss you, do I still gotta sleep in the guest room for two months?" He asks with a smirk.

Ah, he thinks he's slick.

"Yes, Matéo, you do" I tell him.

"I ain't doing shit!" He says adamantly, folding his arms.

"James!?" I whine.

"Listen to your wife" James tells Matéo, looking up from a magazine that has Kofi Siribo on the front.

"What?!" Matéo nearly yells.

"So you help her and not me?!" He complains.

James drops the magazine.

"Have you met my mother?!" He responds.

I'm about to go to jail for murder.

It has been a good 3 days since I made him sleep in the guest room and he has been nothing but trouble ever since!

"Matéo, if you don't stop what you are doing, right now, I will..." I start, but I don't get any further.

"Make me!" He yells back at me.

He holds my car keys above his head so that I can't reach.

"You childish little bitch!" I yell.

"Don't push, me or I'll make you regret it" He says.

What kind of switch up?!

I step away from him and narrow my eyes at him.

I suddenly jump and grab his arm, but I slip back down.

He laughs at me loudly.

I didn't think it would come to this...

"Matéo, please give me my keys" I say calmly, stepping closer to him.

He steps back, dangling the keys in my face.

"Get them" He says simply.

I try and fail to snatch them up, because this fool drops the keys down his underwear!

As if I haven't seen or touched it before.

I am just about to grab them from his pants, when I get a better idea.

He leans back against the wall, thinking he's won.

Aw, shame...

I press my body up against his a little and I lean in to whisper in his ear.

"Give me back me keys please, baby" I tell him, rubbing my hands over his chest smoothly.

He knows what I'm doing...

He just wants my attention.

"Or?" He asks.

I run a hand through his hair.

"Please, baby?" I say.

I kiss his neck gently and I can feel him getting a little hard.

I've won!

He groans.

I grab my keys from his pants and run as if he couldn't snatch me up in seconds.

I huff and sit in my car.

I am in so much trouble when I get home.
