jeon jungkook walked on the sidewalk on a starry yet snowy night. he placed his hands in the pockets of his coat trying to warm up as much as he can from the cold weather. it was currently dark outside, but a lot of people were still walking out in the open dressed in winter attire.

ten o'clock. two hours until midnight and two hours until december twenty-fifth.

jungkook had reunited with his family a few hours ago, having a nice conversation about the things happening in life. he had told them that it was filled with joy and fun activities with his friends and that he enjoyed every second of it. but what kind of conversation would it be without his older brother's teasing?

"hey lil' bro, i saw a lot of comments about you and this girl. they said she's your girlfriend? is that true?" junghyun raised an eyebrow, a small smirk rising the corner of his lips.

jungkook choked on air as he turned his head so quickly he was sure he got a whiplash. with his eyes and mouth wide open, he attempted to get a word out but to no avail. he ended up gaping like a fish despite him resembling a lost bunny.

jungkook glanced at his parents from the corner of his eye only to see them with similar expressions plastered on their faces. surprised, shocked, and confused.

"if i'm not mistaken, minkook was trending," his older brother continued bothering him with a mischievous look on his face as he scrolled through his phone, not minding his younger brother's rosy cheeks. "and i think i saw a photo of you guys kiss—"

"HYUNG!" jungkook covered his brother's mouth with his hand only to get them yeeted off the next second. junghyun leaned away and stretched his arm, still scrolling through twitter to find the picture as jungkook struggled to take the phone away from the foot pressed against his cheek. "HYUNG STOP!"

"NOPE! WHY ARE YOU EMBARRASSED ABOUT IT? DON'T YOU LIKE HER?"

"YES BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOW IT TO MOM AND DAD! IT'S NOT NECESSARY!"

"WHY? IT'S CUTE! I MEAN LOOK AT YOU AND HER! oh man i'm so glad your fans took a screenshot—"

"HYUNG!"

seconds later, the two siblings found themselves on the carpeted floor fighting like a bunch of children. despite having a grown-up body, both males still have the mindset of a young child.

jungkook shook his head at the short flashback, smiling a little from the silly fight he had with his older brother. being away from home and living in seoul made him miss all the moments he shared with his family as a young boy.

the conversation ended with him finally admitting that he has a crush on his girl-friend. he even showed a picture of her (junghyun did actually because he wanted to tease jungkook more) and his parents were extremely amazed now knowing he finally has someone he likes.

just the thought of her brought a smile up on his face. being in busan, the chances of him meeting her was slim compared to being in seoul, where he could still see her by watching her daily live streams every day and/or playing video games with her.

jungkook felt as if he was acting a bit too clingy for someone that wasn't even his yet, but he couldn't help it. he never thought these emotions would be something he would experience and he wasn't sure if a person was supposed to feel this way when they are in love with someone.

love. was he actually in love with choi minjee?

from the way his mind was clouded by her 24/7 and the way he craved for her touch only meant that he was in love, right? he felt those butterflies swarming inside his stomach and the genuine rush and excitement when seeing her face.

jungkook was physically inexperienced when it comes to dating, but he does know how to treat a partner correctly. from the number of times he had observed his friends and schoolmates treating their past lovers and learning about love slowly, he was confident on how it functioned.

how badly he wanted minjee to accept him ever since he confessed so he could experience what it feels like to be in a relationship. he wanted to understand the excitement that most couples feel when they get together. he wanted to feel his heart beating rapidly when being inches away from her face.

he wanted to hold her in his embrace again.

he wanted to see her flustered self.
he wanted to kiss her again. properly this time.

it hasn't even been twenty-fours since he left seoul and he was already acting like a whiny child.

jeon jungkook, what is wrong with you?

the man sighed, smoke coming out of his parted lips from the freezing weather. he looked to his side and watched the citizens of south korea enjoying the cold night. majority was walking in pairs, some were in groups, and the rest were walking alone.

he looked to his other side and saw the same view. a group of friends were playing around in the snow, a couple having hot chocolate at a nearby café outside, and a teenager coming out of a shop with a small bag in his hand (possibly to give it to someone or for himself) until the said boy tripped over a pile of snow and fell face first on the ground.

jungkook coughed and walked away from the scene, pretending as if he wasn't a witness to not embarrass the young male.

his legs brought him to an abandoned playground. the playground he used to play in when he was a young boy. he specifically enjoyed playing the slide since he liked the thrill when sliding off a high point.

jungkook's black boots stepped on the crumbled snow as he slowly approached the swing. the lack of light prevented him to see properly but he could see a faint figure sitting on one of the swings as they kicked a pile of snow in front of them.

jungkook froze — not gonna lie but he felt scared thinking it wasn't a human but a ghost. he was literally about to run away if it wasn't for the moonlight to suddenly illuminate the person's face a few seconds later, him being able to see who it is.

a/n; this book's gonna end soon in a few more chapters :( and it's gonna be 2022 in a few hours so happy new year everyone! 🎆
