Chapter nine: Truth, dare or drink (Ellie's POV)

We were sitting around in The Brew, long gone was our lunch and we all were just talking. Mid-conversation, Brett's, and Zach's phones dinged.

"It's Isaac, there's a party tonight at his place, everyone's invited. You guys wanna go?" Brett asked.

"Yes."

"Yes."

"No."

"No."

Ashley and Nathan wanted to go. Zach and I didn't.

"Spencer, your call," Brett shrugged.

Everyone turned to him. "Sure," he replied. I glared at him before leaning back with a sigh.

"It'll be fun, we'll get ready and everything!" Ashley squealed beside me. If I wanted to get ready I would have said yes, but I don't, I just want to go home and take a nap.

"Okay, we meet at Isaac's at seven then. I'll drive with Ash, we live nearby," Nathan shrugged.

"I'll ride with Brett then," Spencer said.

That leaves me with Zach. Surprisingly, I'm not annoyed but that's because it is most logical that Zach and I share a ride, we're neighbors. "You're driving," I stated.

"I don't get to drink?" he huffed.

"You don't get drunk anyway," I shrugged. After we made up our plans, we all headed out, the losers paying for the lunch. I was talking to Brett about tonight when Zach called me over.

"Can we go?" He seemed annoyed. Maybe he's just tired?

I got in the car and he drove off, driving at an unnecessarily high speed. "Will you slow down?" I asked, shifting in my seat. He slowed down a little but he was still going very fast and way over the limit.

"Zach, there's-"

He didn't let me talk. "Can you just let me drive?" he asked through gritted teeth.

"Yeah, but there's-"

Nope. He wasn't having. "I know how to drive," he scoffed.

"That's not what I'm saying, I'm just saying that-" I huffed when a siren followed us. "That there's a cop car behind us," I sighed.

Zach pulled over with a huff and the cop stepped out and approached him.

"Are you aware why I've pulled you over?" he asked.

"Speeding. Idiot," I mumbled the last bit under my breath.

"If you're going to give me a ticket can you just hurry up and give it? We're in a rush," Zach huffed.

I facepalmed while my elbow rested on the console.

"Why? Where are you headed?" the cop questioned.

I turned to Zach, amused.

What is he gonna say now? He's just so smart, isn't he?

"To the hospital," he replied.

"Why?" He's one nosey cop.

"We think she's pregnant," he shrugged nonchalantly.

My eyes fell out of their sockets while I kept my head down.

"Miss?" the cop turned to me.

I glanced at Zach, preparing myself to strangle him once we got home. I nodded, "It's true." Zach stared down while chewing on the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing.

"Goodness me, go on then." I can't believe he would believe that.

Zach rolled up his window and we sped away, circling our neighborhood to make it seem like we were heading to the hospital. Once we lost the cop, he pulled up in front of my house and we just sat there in silence, staring either down at the ground or ahead at my house.

"Are you fucking stupid?!" I snapped, turning to him.

"I just said what would work and it did, you're welcome," he shrugged.

"'You're welcome?' Are you serious? You just said I'm pregnant, you told a cop that I'm pregnant!" I exclaimed.

"No, I said we thought you were." He gave me a pointed look.

"Same difference, Zach!" I gaped at him, stunned at what he did.

He looked at me and we stared at each other in silence for a very long time. I could see the smile tugging at his lips. He was trying desperately hard not to laugh and so was I. "Zach, do not laugh," I cleared my throat to keep myself from laughing.

He pulled his lips into a thin line. I was trying not to look into his eyes because I knew for a fact that we would burst out laughing. But apparently, we don't think alike. My eyes met his and both of us, as expected, starting cracking up.

A good five to seven minutes later, we were calm enough to be able to look at each other again.

"I hate you," I shook my head while grabbing my phone from the cup holder, getting ready to leave. I stepped out and he rolled the window down on my side. I bent down to look at him, hearing what he had to say.

"No, you don't," he smirked.

I stared at my closet, looking for a dress. I grabbed a black one, a royal blue one and a champagne one. The black and champagne dressed were like silk with thin straps holding them up while they were skin fit to my mid-thigh. I didn't really like the blue one, so that was gone.

I held up the other two in front of me, looking into the mirror.

Black. Champagne. Black. Champagne. Black? Champagne?

"Black!"

I got startled and jumped before looking to my right to see Zach sitting at his desk, his arms folded and resting on the table with his chin on top of his hands. I stared at him, confused as to why first of all, he was watching me through his window, second of all, why he's giving me his opinion when I didn't ask for it and also why he likes to scare me out of nowhere.

"You get startled so easily, it's amusing," he chuckled.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked, walking over to my window.

"What am I doing?" he asked.

"How long have you just been sitting there?" I questioned.

"Watching you? Maybe like ten minutes. You're very indecisive," he shook his head disappointedly with a smirk playing on his lips.

"Definitely the black one though," he nodded.

"Why?" I asked.

"You'll see," he said before standing up and heading to his closet, grabbing his clothes and disappearing into his bathroom.

What is that supposed to mean?

I finished getting ready and put my hair up in a sleek high ponytail.

Oh, I see what he meant.

Yeah, black was definitely the right choice. I slipped on heels as per Ashley's orders, grabbed my phone, house keys, and then left the same time Zach was leaving his house. I walked over to his car and slipped inside while he started the engine. He looked at me and then proceeded to do a double-take.

If Zach does a double-take... I must look good then.

"Can you drive?" I asked, biting back a smile.

He turned his head to the road and started driving, we were there within fifteen minutes where I saw Ash and Nathan at the entrance. "Hey," I said while walking over to Ashley. We all went inside together where Brett was talking to Isaac and Spencer was talking to a girl. Glad they waited for us.

It's always been a rule that whenever anyone needs anything, they text everyone else, the first person to show up helps them because we all don't stick together at parties, we sort of split up and hop from place to place. I went with Ashley into the kitchen to grab a drink, Nathan went with Zach into the backyard.

"How was the ride here?" she asked.

"It was fine?" I said, slightly confused because why is that relevant?

"With you looking like that it was just fine?" she deadpanned.

"Yeah," I chuckled.

"With that bet going on?"

I forgot about that.

"I guess," I shrugged.

About thirty minutes into the party, everyone was scattered in the huge living room sitting in a circle. "Everyone knows the rules, right? We spin the bottle, whoever it lands on picks either truth or dare, they have to answer or do they dare and if they choose not to then they take a shot. Who wants to spin?" Isaac explained while placing a bottle in the middle.

Brett volunteered and sent the bottle in frenzy spin, it halted on Isaac.

"Truth."

I don't know what's worse. Truth, dare, or drink.

This game has been going on for ages. I've had three shots, I'm already tipsy, we're an hour or more in. The bottle spun and landed on Nathan. I was sitting beside Ashley, my head resting on her shoulder, hers resting on mine. She's way drunker than I am.

"Dare."

How is he not drunk?

"Kiss the girl you're most attracted to." Spencer was sitting beside and began pouring him a shot.

Why wouldn't he do that?

"You won't do it, will you?" Spencer looked at him, shocked.

I sat up straight and began thinking of who it could be. He glanced at Ashley.

I KNEW IT! I FREAKING KNEW IT!

He looked at me and raised his eyebrows. I nodded as subtly as I could before scooting away from Ashley just a tad bit. He stood up, walked over, and just kissed her.

I FUCKING CALLED IT!
