In the Jurassic era, a single day for them is equal to 23 hours. But today it became 24 hours, which implies that time is really slowing down. The reason is simply the mother Earth is getting old. Kidding. Actually, it is due to the moon's gravitational pull. Its gravity bulges the earth's bodies of water which creates tides. As the planet rotates, its bulges move away from the moon but the moon persistently tries to pull it back that slows the rotation and so is the time. Thus, every century there is an additional 1.8 milliseconds to reach the complete rotation.

Below is a conceptualized image of the moon creating tides on Earth:

However, it is supposed to be 2.3 milliseconds per century according to the researchers' computation. So there must be some factor that makes the Earth's rotation speeds up a little bit and that is the icy poles. In the ice age, the heavy thick ice of the earth's poles made the planet rotate slowly but as time passed by, the ice melted which accelerates the rotation and thus, reducing the supposed calculated milliseconds.

But still, not enough time to achieve my dream of visiting planet Mars.
