Of course, we are living in the future so almost everything is possible. Short people can get taller by a few inches not by using shoes with heels but by lengthening the bones of their legs. In fact, this painful process, which is called Distraction Osteogenesis is popular to Chinese especially women because being taller for them means success and have a higher chance to be employed. Originally, this process is developed for people with irregular leg lengths or with dwarfism but sadly, these healthy Chinese still pursue this unorthodox procedure for the betterment of their lives.

In the process, its first phase is to cut the two leg bones, tibia into halves similar to a bone fracture. Then in a second phase, a separating device, *Ilizarov apparatus is introduced that surrounds the leg and stimulates the bone with electricity for stabilization and further its separation. Each day, the device slowly separates the 2 tibias by about one millimeter. As the bones are getting farther apart, the callus is reabsorbed and replaced by a collagen structure. Collagen is a protein that forms the connective tissues in the body. Then a special cell, osteoblasts join to generate the actual bone material, but not quite hard or mineralized. Lastly, after a month, the bone material is fully mineralized but the patient must undergo physical therapy to learn how to walk again.

But for the guys who have a short boner who want to make it longer, I'm sad to say that there is no treatment yet. The only cure found is contentment.
