Last week I had one of the best nights of my life. I was shown what it was like to really let my hair down and enjoy my life. Jaxon has awoken this energy within me and has brought a smile onto my face. Everything was finally falling into place, I was in a really good place right now. I thought I didn't get closure with Noah, but after the way he grabbed me in front of strangers made me realise that he was nothing but a lying bastard who was never going to change. Meeting up with him also made me realise that I wanted to be with Jaxon and only Jaxon.

Jaxon and I have been on good terms, we have spoken almost every day since our date. Come to think about it, we talk before, during and after school. He hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend or anything, which I kind of appreciate because we are taking it slow this time around. We don't even show any form of affection at school which is exactly what I want. The girls who crush over him are crazy; Brittany for example.

Jaxon had wanted to hang out this weekend but I told him that I had plans, which I did. I was supposed to go see my Mum last week with Drew but with everything that happened with Noah and the police, I had to reschedule. Drew thought I had forgotten about our deal but little did he know. So, here Alena and I were on a Saturday morning waiting on Drew to arrive at our house. He was adamant that he would drive us to the clinic, which I wasn't complaining for because it meant I got to relax while he drove for all those hours.

The closer we got to the clinic, the more nervous I got. I don't know if I was nervous more for Drew or my Mum, I was nervous for both of them, nervous that they wouldn't hit it off. I was that nervous that that all I could do was talk about it with Jaxon as we messaged back and forth this morning. I was beginning to freak out but I tried to remain calm in front of them as my heart picked up the pace. I felt a pair of hands squeeze my left shoulder, I turned to see Alena smiling at me in the gap between my seat and the window.

"It will be fine." She whispered in my ear. I smiled at her as she sat back into her seat.

Sat, June 18, 09:45 AM
Jaxon: Don't be nervous about them. They will both hit it off.

Sat, June 18, 09:46 AM
Avery: I know. I'm more nervous about the unexpected.

Sat, June 18, 09:47 AM
Jaxon: Stay positive baby. Message me when you get home x

I clicked the screen of my phone off as I laid my head back against the head rest. Drew was tapping his fingers to the beat of the song on the steering wheel,  oblivious to my freak out. I internally groaned as I saw the sign of the clinic to indicate that we had arrived. I let out a sigh as soon as Drew parked the car before turning to face me.

"How are you feeling?" I asked as I eyed him carefully.

He let out a sigh as he looked at the entrance before looking back to me, "Nervous, but I don't wanna overthink it."

I nodded in agreement before exiting the car, Alena and Drew in tow.

"Let's do this!" Alena cheered in excitement as she grabbed a hold of my hand. Together we walked in to sign in before going into the cafeteria area where we knew Mum would be waiting. We got to the door before looking at each other, Drew smiled at me before opening the door for us. As we walked in it felt like the longest walk, but as soon as I saw my Mum stand up in shock I knew there was no turning back.

I watched on as her palms covered her mouth before shaking her head in denial. Drew slowed his steps down until he was standing in front of her, almost towering over her because of his height. She looked up at him as her lips trembled.

"Mum." His whisper was all it took for a cry to escape her lips. She wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him tight. He instantly wrapped his arms around her shoulders, before leaning his head down to kiss the top of her head. My heart caught up my throat as it beat fast, making my eyes water as I witnessed this reunion. I was in slight shock as I saw Drew's shoulders shake lightly as they continued to hug each other.

'He's crying?'

Never in a million years did I expect this kind of reunion, I never expected them both to react the way they did. I held onto Alena's hand as we smiled at each other before continuing to watch Drew and Mum embrace each other. Everything was finally coming together, we were all almost a family again.

There was only one missing piece to the puzzle. A piece I wasn't sure would want to be a part of the puzzle but I was going to try and make it work.

It took a good ten minutes for the shock to die down between Mum and Drew, before we eventually got to our table to eat brunch together. We had spent the first half an hour talking about Drew's life and what she has missed out on, what college he wants to attend to next year, why he doesn't have a girlfriend yet and if he was looking after his sisters. It was rather amusing to watch, they conversed like no time had passed between a mother and son.

Mum leaned forward to grab a hold of Alena's hand before winking at me, "I have a surprise for you, baby. Close your eyes." She whispered before getting up to walk over to the cafeteria staff.

"What is it?" Alena whispered.

I shrugged my shoulders in denial as I waited patiently as well, "Close your eyes, Alena."

Drew and I chuckled as Alena groaned before closing her eyes, covering them with her hand. I looked at my Mum as she began to walk slowly towards us, with a frozen themed birthday cake in hand. I smiled at my mum as it made me realise that she remembered her birthday, it was technically next week but she knew she would have missed it. This small gesture spoke volumes to us.

"Open them." Mum said as she got closer. She waited for Alena to open her eyes before beginning to sing happy birthday. Drew and I smiled as we joined along before cheering a now excited Alena as she blew out her candles.

"Did you make a wish?" Mum asked as she gave the cake to the staff who then took it to the kitchen to cut it.

Alena smile before nodding, "Yes. I hope it comes true."

Mum smiled at her before leaning down to kiss her on the head. After pieces of cake had been passed between the four of us, Mum resumed her seat across from Alena and I, next to Drew.

"You have no idea how happy you have made me, coming today. I know I missed a lot of your birthdays.-" she said before stopping to look at Drew.

"Especially yours and I'm truly sorry. I know I'll never be able to make it up to you." She added, her voice becoming shaky as tears descended from her eyes. Drew smiled sadly at her before grabbing onto her hand and squeezing it. Mum sobbed before lifting their entwined hands to kiss it.

I didn't talk or interrupt their moment in any way, I just sat here and smiled at them. Yes, she did miss quite a few birthdays but there was no point in dwelling on it. I made myself a promise with both parents to just try and move on, I was getting tired of rehashing out the past with them. The past was the past and there was no changing it.

I was brought back to reality when my mum held onto my hands before clearing her throat.

"I had made you a promise to tell you the truth. There's something I haven't been open about." She forced the words out in between her sobs. I swallowed the lump in my throat as I waited for her to finish.

"Your Dad wrote to you every single day."

"I know. You already told me they are in the safe." I interrupted.

"Have you gone to get them yet?" Mum asked. I shook my head in denial.

"Good. There's a few letters hidden underneath our bed, there's a loose floorboard in the middle." She added. I creased my eyebrows in confusion as my eyes diverted to Drew who just seemed intrigued by our conversation.

Mum smiled sadly at me before leaning forward to hold my hand, "You will understand when you get them. There's only five of them." I smiled sadly at my mum before nodding in agreement.

"So, has 'you know who' signed the papers yet?" I asked, anger kicked in when Mum shook her head.

"He's just disappeared from the planet since I sent the divorce papers. Oh, by the way-" She said before waving at someone. I turned to see one of the staff members smile and come over to hand her something. Mum opened my hand before giving me a key.

"I had changed the locks to the house. This is the one to get in." I smiled proudly at my mum before putting the key in my pocket.

"Why was that lady holding the key?" Alena asked in confusion.

Drew chuckled lightly before responding, "Mum's not allowed to hold any of those things so the staff hold them on her behalf."

Mum and I looked at Drew in shock who in return was confused about our stare before realisations kicked in. He smiled nervously before shrugging his shoulders.

"I'm sorry." He added, which made me chuckle.

Mum smiled before shaking her head, "Please don't apologise. That has made me the happiest mother in the world."

Alena leaned forward and pretended to whisper, "She's over us calling her Mum. We should start calling her Olivia."

I let out a laugh before playfully roughing my fingers through Alena's hair until she began to giggle.

"So, I finish my stay in about a month. I was wondering if you girls wanted to move back with me?" Mum asked. My mouth opened slightly in shock at her question. Unsure of what to say, my eyes then moved towards Drew whose smile had now vanished and was replaced with sadness as he looked between mum and I.

I bit onto my inner cheek as I debated on what to say, "Would you be willing to move to where we are now? We can rent out a place that is close to our school and where Drew lives."

A sob escaped my mum's lips as she smiled in pure happiness at me, "Of course. I'd move wherever my kids are. I'd do anything for my babies."

Drew and I smiled at my mum. I looked over at Alena before chuckling as I saw her sneak another slice of cake onto her plate, oblivious to our conversation as she focused on the icing.

"Five minutes."

Drew, Alena and I looked around as the words were spoken over a loud speaker. Mum quickly got up to hug each one of us, leaving Drew to last. She let out a cry as she hugged him and thanked him for giving her a chance. I watched on as Drew smiled before kissing her forehead.

"I hope to see you guys soon." Mum said as held onto Drew's hand. I opened my mouth to respond but Drew beat me to it.

"I promise. We will." He said before holding onto Alena's hand. As they got closer Drew then wrapped his right hand around my shoulders and we walked out together. I took one look at my Mum and smiled before waving at her.

"Love you." I mouthed the words out to her.

"Love you too." She responded back.

It felt good to hear those words again. I could never get enough of hearing those words from her. I loved every second of our visit today. I was so proud of Drew and it made me realise that he behaved a lot better than I did. I knew it was time to repay the favour, not just for him but for me. I deserved to be in a happy family. Alena deserved to have her father in her life. She deserved the happiness just as much as I did.

Also, I'm so sorry on the delayed update! Life has been so busy for me and I've also been extremely unwell. I'm getting better so hopefully I can start the continuous updates again.
