"the cheesecake factory!"

excitement surged through taehyung's body like strong lightning. he dashed into the large department like his life depended on it.

jungkook almost found himself blushing at the elder's reaction. as expected, hearing taehyung squeal over some cheesecake was like music to his ears.

the waitress led them to the nearest table and provided them with two menus. there was a variety of luxurious desserts, primarily cheesecakes, and taehyung didn't know where to begin.

"these are all so expensive..."

jungkook sat back in his chair as if he was relaxing in a sauna. "yup, choose whatever you'd like."

"but i can't—"

"tae."

the blue-haired male suspired in defeat. he wanted to order everything off the menu, but the desserts were overpriced and he didn't see jungkook as some walking bank. this was more stressful than it should've been.

taehyung resorted to ordering coffee-flavored cheesecake and lemon macaroons. he begged jungkook to order something as well so he wouldn't be left alone in the darkness, but jungkook declined the offer. this "date" was dedicated to taehyung, and taehyung only.

taehyung felt a bitter taste fill his mouth.

great. now he's gonna watch me eat and think i'm fat.

jungkook put taehyung's pessimistic thoughts to a stop by sparking yet another conversation.

"so, you're never gonna tell me why the hell you locked yourself in that room?"

"maybe i will, maybe i won't," taehyung replied.

truth being told, taehyung couldn't handle the fact that dokyeom's words and actions caused his mental health to deteriorate as a whole.

what dokyeom did during that basketball game was permanently engraved into taehyung's brain.

all he felt was sadness; every emotion was pushed from his being. the mere fact that he was helpless in the moment made him fall into a deep depression, resulting into him isolating himself from the others for days.

he felt bitter, unforgiving and painful, but the real question was...

should i tell jungkook?

what if i ruin their friendship?

what if jungkook doesn't believe me?

ugh.

no, that wouldn't happen.

i hope not.

jungkook shattered taehyung's thoughts by kicking his foot underneath the table. "well, at least tell me what you did for those two days you wouldn't speak to me."

"nothing much. all i did sleep, eat, and facetime jimin," the blue-haired male murmured.

"and who exactly is this jimin guy?" jungkook inquired. other than his own, any male's name that left taehyung's mouth always left him defensive without reasoning.

"he's my best friend." taehyung informed. jimin was more of his only friend, but nobody needed to know that. "we've known each other for three years but we haven't met yet because he lives all the way in changwon. hopefully we can meet soon!"

jungkook found himself on the verge of laughter. "let me guess, he's a bottom too?"

taehyung rolled his eyes in a playful annoyance and kicked him back harder, causing jungkook to quietly wince.

"goddamn! i didn't hit you that hard!" he gripped the table out of pain and put his bruised knuckles on full display. taehyung raised his brow.

"what happened to your hand?"

jungkook shrugged, stretching out his hand for taehyung to examine. "dokyeom and i might've gotten into a little brawl."

taehyung felt his heart skip a few beats at the mention of dokyeom's name. the topic of him seemed inescapable, but taehyung yearned to hear more about what happened.

"uh, why did you fight?"

"he was actually talking shit about you so i gave him a few punches to the face." the words easily flew out of the younger's lips like wind. "man, i really hope he cleaned up the blood. that shit stains like crazy."

oh, god.

from taehyung's knowledge, anything involving himself either angered or turned dokyeom on. if jungkook somehow beat dokyeom senseless over him, there was a huge possibility that the anger one applied to this situation.

meaning, there was a huge possibility of dokyeom lashing out his suppressed anger on taehyung instead of jungkook in the near future.

oh, fuck...

a gaggle of goosebumps laminated taehyung's paled skin. he started losing all rationality in his head from assuming that dokyeom would soon harm him over jungkook's actions.

"what's your problem? you act like you've seen a ghost," jungkook expressed.

"s-sorry, i-i just don't want you to fight over dumb shit that involves me," taehyung croaked out. "it's not worth it."

taehyung didn't even bother asking how his name got brought up in the altercation because he knew it'd only cause more distress on his part. he already knew dokyeom would be outraged, so he didn't need to know much more.

jungkook looked so calm and collected, as if he hadn't completely jeopardized taehyung's safety all because he failed to control his temper. it was even worse how he had no idea what was going on with taehyung and dokyeom.

taehyung had to tell him soon.

"ok, babe. i won't fight again," jungkook lifted his hands up in the air like he was surrending. "just stop with the scared face. you're freaking me out."

if only you knew.

the blue-haired male finally got rid of his rigid, statue-like stance when the waitress returned back with his long awaited desserts.

he immediately dug into his coffee-flavored cheesecake, completely losing memory of his previous thoughts about dokyeom. food was the only thing that could discard his bad thoughts within seconds.

jungkook could've held his soft gaze on the elder forever. watching taehyung messily eat his dessert with several crumbs on his face brought forth so much happiness in his heart.

he knew taehyung would get embarrassed or stop eating in general if he caught jungkook staring, so jungkook decided to play it safe and watch from the corner of his eyes.

but he just couldn't keep his eyes off the elder. taehyung was so adorable.

"you seem to be enjoying it," jungkook chortled.

taehyung was midway into stuffing several macaroons in his mouth. he looked up at the other, wide-eyed and innocent.

he didn't realize how unkempt he was eating until he caught sight of the cheesecake bits stuck under his nails. blushing wouldn't have been a problem, but taehyung went as red as a cherry. he was so embarrassed.

he pushed his plate aside. "i'm full."

"hey, but you're a cute eater," jungkook spoke. a grin lit up his face, revealing his whitened teeth.

taehyung rolled his eyes. "now you're just lying."

before jungkook could disagree, the elder called out for the bill.

the waitress arrived back for the third time, but gave the two of them a dirty look for a change.

taehyung softly patted his face for crumbs. he assumed the waitress was repulsed by his current state.

are there still crumbs on my face? god, this is embarrassing.

the waitress looked down at taehyung and almost sneered. "sir, please tell your friend that there is no smoking permitted here."

"what do you mean—"

taehyung was taken aback by the sudden smell of marijuana. wisps of grey smoke curled its way through the hazy atmosphere as jungkook exhaled it into the air. taehyung rolled his eyes.

"kook, put the weed away!"

"oh, come on. i was just getting started!"

jungkook put out his fully rolled blunt. the amount of unnecessary rules in fancy restaurants infuriated him, but he had to respect them so they wouldn't get banned.

after arguing with taehyung over who should pay, jungkook finally shut the elder up and wrote a check for a couple hundred dollars.

jungkook found it amusing how flustered taehyung became from being spoiled rotten like this. he planned to do whatever it took to bring taehyung out of his previous depression.

the two shortly left the restaurant. they walked on the glistening pavement, rinsed clean by thousands of raindrops from the storm the night before.

taehyung chopped jungkook in his elbow. "why were you smoking in the restaurant?!"

"i was just trying to burn some stress off. dokyeom's hard ass face hurt my fist and it's really starting to piss me off."

all the memories about dokyeom came flooding back. taehyung's stomach swirled into a vortex of nervousness.

was now the time to tell him?

taehyung could feel his pulse pounding through his temple. jungkook would support him regardless, so nothing could go wrong.

right?

"jungkook?"

"yes?" jungkook was searching through his pockets for his lighter so he could smoke a second blunt.

with butterflies flying in his stomach with multiple possibilities, there was no way taehyung could process thoughts. this was way harder than it gave the impression of being.

"i have something to tell you."

jungkook's attention fell on taehyung. "what's wrong, baby?"

"dokyeom's been..."

"been what?" jungkook put the lighter back in his coat pocket. he lost any sort of emotion on his face.

here it goes.

"dokyeom's been, um..."

jungkook nodded. taehyung's nails dug into his palms.

taehyung forced a smile. "i think dokyeom's been using your shampoo?"

jungkook gritted his teeth. "so that's why his hair's been so shiny at practice. i fucking knew it!"

the tension that had taehyung sweating bullets straight melted into nothing.

maybe next time.

"thanks for telling me," jungkook said. a relieving feeling blew in his body. "is that all?"

taehyung looked straight ahead at the cherry blossom trees. avoiding eye contact with the younger was the only appropriate response to this situation.

"y-yeah, that's it."
