six years later

"you did it," taehyung expressed in bafflement. his hands were trembling as he tightly clutched the contract paper. "you really did it."

"yeah, baby," jungkook spoke. "they're offering me over nine million to join their team."

taehyung fought the strongest urge to restrain his floodgates from bursting open. he did not want to release any tears at such a great occasion, but he was so incredibly overjoyed at how far the ravenette had come. never would one assume that jungkook's careless basketball practices in high school would transition into million-dollar offers from professional teams.

"i-i just can't believe this," the blonde uttered. "i'm so fucking proud of you."

a small smile spread across his gaunt features — it must have been pure happiness. taehyung knew how intent jungkook was toward at least getting acknowledged by the team, which was this moment was so significant. prior to the incredible news, the ravenette had gone to the lengths of attending weekly english-learning classes merely because the team's headquarters were located in california.

jungkook felt his body travel through the air before he plummeted back on the softly-cushioned bed. his shoulder-length hair had fell out of its bun, but that was the least of his concerns.

"this feels like a dream," he remarked. "i never thought this would ever happen."

the blonde took the opportunity to straddle jungkook and nuzzle up against him. their cheeks were warmly pressed together as they shared the same breath.

"well, i did," taehyung whispered in his ear. "they'd be fools not to notice you."

jungkook directed his gaze to the beauty mark on the elder's nose, kissing it within seconds. it was the feature the ravenette was most fond of, despite the fact that it was barely noticeable.

"well, i couldn't have done this without you."

a blush seared through taehyung's cheeks. six years later, and jungkook's words still withheld a significant venue in his heart. his emotional vulnerability toward the ravenette was a key to part of who he was and he soon adjusted to it.

he unlatched himself from the younger, soon jumping and squealing out of excitement.

"this is in need of a celebration!" taehyung sung out. he excitedly circled around the bedroom, formulating a well-rounded plan. "jimin finally moved here so we could use his mansion, seokjin will bring the food and snacks, and yoongi will bring the drinks. oh, and namjoon could—"

"i don't want a party."

taehyung froze in his steps. he drilled stares into the ravenette who was sitting up and tying his hair back into its previous bun. jungkook approached the blonde in a composed manner.

the blonde frowned. "why not?"

"i want to spend it with you."

taehyung's brain opened to the astonishment of his words, allowing amazement to enter. his jaw dropped at jungkook's statement with not just confusion, but awe.

"um, just me?" he questioned. "are you sure?"

the ravenette nodded.

the blonde burrowed his head against jungkook's shoulder, taking a comforting whiff of his cologne. the ravenette's decision of solely spending the celebration with him was odd, but taehyung complied to it nonetheless.

"that's fine, baby," taehyung agreed. "i could bake you a cake and cook all of your favorite meals."

"i don't want that, either."

the elder grew concerned. "w-what?"

jungkook faintly grinned. "i have a place in mind."

before taehyung could process his reply, he sensed his arm being tugged by the ravenette. the two dashed out of the room, hands intertwined, as they spent no more than a minutes departing from their home.

"where are we going?!" the blonde inquired.

"wait and see."

clouds still lingered, but instead as an array of puffy white shapes amid the grey sky. as the two glimpsed above, they discerned how the sky was a rolling blanket of wet ash. taehyung shivered at the cold breeze that blew right through his sweater, exhaling out small breaths that were only visible under the sporadic streetlights.

"so, i noticed that the contract said you would be on the team for a minimum of four years," the blonde began.

"yeah," jungkook confirmed.

taehyung gulped down his anxiety. "does that mean that you'll be in america for that whole time period, even though i'm here, in korea? remember, i can't travel with you. i-i need to take care of the kids in my daycare."

jungkook nodded, tucking his chin downward in his coat. "i thought about that, and maybe i could call you everyday and travel back home for the holidays. what do you think of that?"

the blonde's stomach instantly knotted at the sound of jungkook's so-called "suggestion." things were arranged completely out of the realm of what he truly wanted, but he refused to be an obstacle to the ravenette's dreams.

the reoccurring thought that placed taehyung in an intense state of nerve-wracks was the lack of physical affection which would accompany jungkook traveling abroad and him remaining home in korea. the ravenette would also be exposed to a new variety of people, including the extremely attractive girls who roamed the streets of california.

moments like these enabled taehyung to overthink, but he felt as though he did not have much a say in the situation, so he kept silent.

despite the fact that the blonde was slightly bummed out, a bit of excitement poured out him like sunshine through fine white linen. he had no idea what jungkook was cooking up in the works by dragging him to some random place, but it was such an anticipating feeling.

"oh shit, we're close," the younger pointed out. he proceeded to cover taehyung's eyes with his hands in attempts of shielding his eyesight.

"you're getting me nervous," taehyung giggled.

a few minutes later, the two halted in their steps and stood in front of a vicinity. the blonde did not have the slightest clue of where they were, but the thrilled grin creeping up on jungkook's face claimed otherwise.

"we're here."

taehyung removed the ravenette's hands from his view, taking a little while to process what stood before him. in his moments of emotional dumbfoundedness, his brain searched for the words to adequately express how he felt.

his loss of words was enough to provide the ravenette with his reaction to the place.

taehyung's breath hitched. "the froyo shop."

"yeah," jungkook added. "this is where i want to spend my celebration."

at first, the blonde was puzzled as to why he would want to spend it here, but everything connected after a swift analysis. the vast majority of their most memorable moments were stored in this shop. it made sense.

"i-i forgot about this place," he mentioned. he slowly advanced toward the shop without any consciousness of doing so, as if the entrance were a powerful magnet.

jungkook held open the door for him, closely watching the elder scrutinize every nook and cranny of the shop. it seemed like everything remained the same after six years, with the exception of some minor changes.

"seujoon!" taehyung exclaimed. he scrambled up to the front desk, making direct eye contact with his previous manager who had reached the destination of old age. "hi, seujoon! do you remember me?!"

the aforementioned pointed his index finger at taehyung, trying to refreshen his memories in hopes of remembering the blonde. it appeared that he had no luck.

the blonde sighed. "i was the kid with blue hair."

"taehyung!" seujoon exclaimed. his eyes lit up as the memory unlocked, limbs recharging as he roamed to the blonde for an embracing hug. his heart beat with delight as he additionally spotted jungkook, whom he cast back into his mind.

"you haven't changed a bit, kid."

"i'm sorry for not ever coming to visit you." the blonde squinted down to the floor, completely ashamed. "that was really dumb of me."

the elder shook his hands in a dismissive manner. "oh, don't worry about that, i'm just happy you're alright! how about you and your little boyfriend order some frozen yogurt? it's on the house."

taehyung peered back at the ravenette, whom was already comfortably seated while scrolling through his phone.

"how did you know he was my boyfriend?"

seujoon chuckled. "no reason."

the blonde perched himself in front of the cash register, exchanging small talk with seujoon before two large frozen yogurts were handed to him. he voiced his immense gratitude as he returned back to his seat with jungkook.

"here's your fudge chocolate froyo," he spoke, delivering the dessert to the ravenette.

"thanks, baby."

with a boyish grin, taehyung raised his brows, opening up his eyes. "i remember when we first met in here. you were being so mean to me and i wanted to fucking kill you," he laughed.

"it was my way of showing that i liked you." the ravenette grew red. his poor methods of flirting in the past were permanently burned in his brain. "give me a break, babe."

taehyung subconsciously smiled at the younger's remarks until a wave of melancholy hammered him. his sadness toward not having direct access to jungkook for the following four years was a cloak he could not simply let fall onto the ground. it was not a challenge to find the benefits accompanying his feelings, but the magnitude of the downsides swept over him.

"jungkook," he started, engulfed in tremors. "i'm really going to miss you."

the ravenette tilted his head. he could detect that taehyung was flooded with sadness.

"tae, i've really been meaning to ask you something."

the blonde hummed.

the nervous sigh that escaped jungkook's lips softly deflated. his eyes were intensely fixed on taehyung's face as he kneeled down on one knee, retrieving a pocket-sized box from his jeans.

jimin, yoongi, namjoon, seokjin, jiwon, and seujoon each appeared from the shadows, swarming from different directions of the shop. the spark of passion that radiated in the room had increased as taehyung struggled to realize that the current moment in time was not a fantasy.

"j-jungkook..."

the ravenette revealed the illuminating ring which brought tears to the blonde's eyes.

"kim taehyung," he spoke. "will you marry me?"

taehyung's heart skipped a beat or two. his tears instantly burst forth like water from a dam, spilling down his face. he happily ogled his friends who surrounded them, smiling.

rising up from his seat, the blonde coddled jungkook into a hug. the two sunk into the passionate warmth of each other.

"yes," he sobbed. "i'll fucking marry you."

cheers were heard from different directions of the room. jimin and seokjin pranced around the room, eyes wide, like excited children.

jungkook slipped the expensive ring down taehyung's finger, taking the initiative to pull him into a passionate kiss. the blonde drew himself from the kiss after some time, crying on his shoulder as a result.

"i made some arrangements with construction men just in case i got on the team, which i did, and they said they could reconstruct your daycare in california," the ravenette informed.

taehyung gasped. "a-are you being serious?"

"yes," jungkook clutched the elder's hands. "we won't be apart. we're going to travel together, alright?"

the walls that held taehyung up collapsed. salty drops fell from his chin, drenching his shirt. he was so incredibly happy.

at last, he could release his sorrowful past and allow it to float away into obscurity. a radiant smile, which he had never worn before, was proudly painted on his face.

"thank you so, so much," he cried. "thank you."

seujoon politely interfered with the moment, taking the chance to cater to his audience. "so, who wants some free froyo?!"

eyes flung wide at his offer. shouts of joy echoed around the shop as everyone, with the exception of taehyung and jungkook, crowded the front desk to place their orders.

"can you fucking move?! i was the first in line!" jimin shrieked.

"who even are you?!" jiwon panicked.

jungkook and taehyung divulged a few laughs at their lack of maturity as the two situated themselves back in their seats.

"taehyung." the ravenette allowed his heart to speak for him. "i love you more than anything."

the blonde wiped away his tears with his sleeves, though they didn't do much.

"i love you most."

there the couple sat, bodies melted as their muscles lost its tension to the comforting air, feeding each other frozen yogurt until the sun set into its horizon.
