"Incoming call from Tony Stark."

————————————————————

Their criminal had just bought groceries.

Before he could even spot them coming, Peter webbed Davis's hand to the trunk of his car. His spider drone flew ahead, spinning around Davis's head. They were in the lower level of a parking garage and Davis had been loading his groceries into his car. He glared at the drone, annoyed.

"Remember me?" Peter asked in a strangely deep metallic voice from his Enhanced Interrogation Mode.

Adelaide stood there beside him, sizing Davis up. He looked like the kind of guy who would run instead of sticking around to fight if it came to it.

At the moment, he looked surprised.

Peter grinned proudly under his mask. He had definitely intimidated him.

"Uh, hey..." Davis said wearily.

"I need information," Peter said in an unusually deep voice, "You're gonna give it to me now."

"Alright, chill," Davis said, glancing at the Blue Phantom. Peter saw his eyes darting around and he stepped forward in what he hoped was an angry manner.

"Come on!" he said. Davis frowned, still looking at Adelaide.

"She wasn't there that night," he said suspiciously. He narrowed his eyes at her. "Who is she? She your girl?"

"Sh-She's not my girl," Peter said, sounding more red-eared than angry.

Even though she saw me half naked earlier, he thought to himself.

He glanced back at her but Adelaide stubbornly stared straight ahead at Davis, definitely not thinking about how she had literally watched him take all of his clothes off in front of her just a half an hour ago. She stole a quick look at him through the corner of her eye.

Nope.

Definitely not thinking about what was under that suit.

"What happened to your voice?" Davis suddenly asked with a frown directed at Peter.

Adelaide sighed. They did not come here so their criminal could interrogate Peter. It was supposed to be the other way around.

"What do you mean, what happened to my voice?" Peter asked, taken aback.

"I heard you by the bridge," Davis said, "I know what a girl sound like."

Adelaide disguised her laugh with a cough.

"I'm not a girl!" Peter said, offended, "I'm a boy. I mean, I'm a...I'm a man." He subtly glanced at the Blue Phantom.

"I don't care what you are, a boy, a girl..." Davis muttered, uninterested. He looked down at his hands webbed on the trunk of his car.

"I'm not a girl! I'm a man. Come on, man," he sighed, "Look, who is selling these weapons? I need to know. Give me names or else."

Davis slammed his trunk shut loudly and Peter startled, stepping back in surprise. The spider drone that had been flying around Davis's head flew back to Peter and chirped.

"You ain't ever done this before, huh?" Davis smirked. Peter sighed.

"Deactivate interrogation mode," he mumbled. Davis laughed. The spider drone went back in the emblem on his chest.

"Look, man, these guys are selling weapons that are crazy dangerous," Peter said in his normal, high-pitched voice, "They can't just be out on the streets. Look, if one of them can just cut Delmar's bodega in half..."

Davis hadn't really been paying attention until now, but at the mention of Delmar's, he looked up.

"You know Delmar's?" he asked. Peter paused.

"Yeah, best sandwich in Queens," Peter said immediately. Davis cringed, shaking his head.

"Sub Haven's pretty good," he said. Peter shrugged, crossing his arms across his chest.

"It's too much bread," he said.

"I like bread," Davis shrugged.

"You've gotta be kidding me," Adelaide mumbled. Both of them looked at her as if they had just remembered she was there.

"Bread's good," Davis argued with a defensive frown. Adelaide rolled her eyes.

"You're a criminal, dude. Why the hell are we still talking about bread?"

"Well," Peter started, "He said Sub Haven was good so I said it was too much—"

"Alright. That's it. I'm doing the interrogating from now on," she said, stepping forward and then turned to Davis, "Give us the info, or else."

Adelaide held up her hand, creating an illusion that she was holding a gun to his head. Davis's and Peter's eyes widened.

"Woah!" Peter said, stepping back from her, "H-Hey, look, that's not how I—"

Adelaide glared at him. He shut himself up.

"I'm not going to ask again," she snapped, wrapping her finger around the trigger. She cocked her head to the side. Davis looked from the gun to her to Peter.

"Come on, man, please," Peter said quietly.

"The other night," Davis said to Peter, "you told that dude, "if you shoot somebody, shoot me." It's pretty ballsy. I don't want those weapons in this neighborhood. I got a nephew who live here."

"Who are these guys?" Adelaide pressed, "What can you tell me about the guy with the wings and the sandman?"

"Other than the wing guy's a psychopath dressed like a demon, nothing. I don't know who he is or where he is. And about the sandman...I know nothing about him," Davis said.

Adelaide narrowed her glowing blue eyes. She stepped forward, hovering the nozzle of the gun directly over his chest but being careful not to touch him with it or else he would see it was just an illusion.

"Do better," she threatened. Davis looked down at her and then sighed.

"I do know where they're gonna be," he mumbled. Adelaide stepped back half an inch.

"Where?" she said brusquely.

"This crazy dude I used to work with," Davis said, "he's supposed to be doing a deal with him."

"Yes! Yes," Peter shouted and turned around, beginning to walk away, "Thank—"

"Hey. Hey. Hey. I didn't tell you where," Davis called out after him, "You don't have a location."

Adelaide dropped her head, sighing. She didn't understand how Peter had gotten this far without her. Davis glanced at her, lowering his voice.

"He always like this?" he asked quietly. Adelaide shrugged, pinching the bridge of her nose tiredly.

"I would guess so."

"Right, of course," Peter mumbled, embarrassed as he walked back. The Blue Phantom was glaring at him. "Yeah, my bad. Silly. Just..."

He gestured for Adelaide to continue. She sighed heavily and turned back to their criminal.

"Yeah. Where is it?" she asked, waving the gun around.

"Can I give you some advice?" Davis said to Peter instead of answering her question.

"Hmm?"

"You got to get better at this part of the job," he said. Adelaide agreed with the criminal.

"I don't understand," Peter frowned, "I'm intimidating." He crossed his arms across his chest, in order to look intimidating. Adelaide felt a flood of second-hand embarrassment. David turned back to her, looking sympathetic.

"Staten Island ferry, eleven," he told her.

Adelaide nodded briskly, pulling her fake gun away from him and pretending to pocket it. She turned around.

"Oh, that's soon," Peter said as the Blue Phantom approached him.

"You should learn something from your girl," Davis called after them. Peter glanced at her. Adelaide gave him a dull look, strutting past him.

"Not my girl," he said again, and then pointed to his webbed hands, "And hey, that's gonna dissolve in two hours.

"No, no, no, no. Come fix this," Davis said.

"Two hours. You deserve that," Peter said over his shoulder as they began walking away.

"I got ice cream in here!" he shouted. Peter paused.

"What kind?"

"Ben and Jerry's. Peanuts Popcorn," Davis said, helplessly tugging at his hands, "Come on, man."

"That's gross and you deserve that. You're a criminal. Bye, Mr. Criminal!" Peter shouted back right before turning around and jogging to catch up with the Blue Phantom.

Davis tugged at his hands, "Damn it, red tights."

—————

"Wait so— the gun in your hand was just an illusion?" Peter breathed, "But it looked so real!"

"That was the point," she mumbled.

"So cool..." he said to himself.

They landed on top of a building roof that overlooked the dock. A massive orange ferry pulled out of the dock slowly. Adelaide connected their comms.

"Remember. We want to break up the deal quickly and quietly," she said to him.

"No loud noises," he nodded. Adelaide prepared her hoverboard to fly off the rooftop. Peter glanced at her as he readied his web shooters.

"Hey, so back in the alley...you didn't...see anything...right?" he asked, "I mean..."

"I looked away," she lied, her eyes on the ferry. It was almost out of dock. He let out a breath of relief.

"No, you didn't," TADASHI said.

Through their connected comms, Peter heard him. His spider eyes widened.

"Let's go!" Adelaide shouted, flying off the roof before he could say anything. Confused, Peter swung after her, nearly losing his balance and tumbling into the water.

"What the hell, TADASHI," she hissed quietly as she slowly came to hover by the side of the huge ferry.

A second later, Peter landed beside her. He stuck himself to the side of the ferry with his sticky hands. She deliberately avoided his gaze even though she could feel him looking at her in question. He scoffed quietly to himself.

"First you take off my mask and then you—"

He stopped suddenly.

The Blue Phantom looked at him with questioning glowing eyes. He held her gaze for a moment and then shook his head, looking away awkwardly. He cleared his throat.

"What?" she said.

He shook his head, feeling his face turning dark red underneath his mask.

"Nothing," he mumbled, "Karen, activate Enhanced Reconnaissance Mode."

"Sure thing."

Adelaide studied him for a moment longer, but she couldn't see his expression through the mask. She finally looked away, confused about his sudden change in emotion. But then her eyes landed on the men inside the ferry, and all thoughts of their conversation went out of her head. They were sitting between the passengers.

"He's up front. Main deck," one man said.

"I hate this guy," the other man grumbled.

"It's the guy from the bridge, right?" Peter whispered to Karen, "Who's that other guy?"

"Just keep me posted," the first guy said.

"There's no record of him in my criminal database. Incoming call from May, Peter. Should I reroute to your heads-up display?"

Adelaide glanced at him through the corner of her eye at the mention of May.

"I can't talk right now," Peter whispered, "I'll call her back."

Peter's eyes narrowed at the men inside the ferry. Suddenly, the spider drone flew out of his chest and quietly landed on his head.

"Hey, dronie, keep an eye on that guy. We can't let anybody get away this time," he mumbled under his breath.

The drone hovered by the window as Peter carefully climbed up onto the ferry roof. Adelaide flew herself up there on her hoverboard. They crawled to the edge and peered down at four men out on the front deck.

"Who's the guy on the left?" Peter whispered.

"Mac Gargan. Extensive criminal record, including homicide," Karen said, "Would you like me to activate Instant Kill?"

"No, Karen, stop it with the Instant Kill already," he whispered. Both teenagers watched as the guy Peter saw on the bridge approached Mac Gargan.

"White pickup truck," he said. Gargan nodded to a thin man behind him who walked away.

"Dronie, scan the ship for a white pickup truck," Peter whispered.

Obediently, the drone flew away from the ferry for a wide-angle view and scanned the cargo under the deck. A moment later, it spotted a white pickup truck. It flew down under the deck and began scanning the white pickup truck once it came into view.

The images filtered into the teenagers' displays.

"Oh, this is too perfect. I got the weapons, buyers, and sellers all in one place," Peter said, still above the deck, watching the men.

"Incoming call from Tony Stark," Karen suddenly said.

Adelaide froze.

As in, her whole body physically reacted to the sound of his name and she felt paralyzed. Her gaze turned distant as her mind immediately began to listen for the sound of his voice that she missed so much.

"No, no, no. No, no, don't answer," Peter said.

"Mr. Parker. Got a sec?"

Adelaide hadn't heard his voice in months.

The last thing he had said to her was please. To please leave him alone and to please never talk to him again. She closed her eyes, feeling the tears already burning their way through the walls she had built.

God, I miss you, Tony, she whispered in her mind, helplessly hoping the words would find their way to him.

"Uh, I'm actually at school," Peter lied, panicking.

"No, you're not," Karen said.

"Nice work in D.C.," Tony continued anyway.

"Okay," Peter mumbled, stressed. Adelaide couldn't even open her eyes. In her mind, she was back at the penthouse where things were the same as they used to be again.

"My dad never really gave me a lot of support... And I'm just trying to break the cycle of shame," Tony said.

It's the Stark genes.

If you need me, I'm here.

I love you.

"Uh, I'm kind of in the middle of something right now," Peter said, glancing at her.

"Don't cut me off when I'm complimenting you," the billionaire snapped, "Anyway, great things are about to—"

A ferry horn blared.

Adelaide snapped out of it, suddenly looking around. She knew if Tony found out what they were doing, he would not be happy about it.

"What is that?" he asked. Adelaide turned to Peter, wide-eyed.

"Uh, I'm at band practice," Peter blurted. He looked at her, wincing under his mask.

"That's odd. Happy told me you never auditioned," Tony said in a suspicious tone, "What's up?"

"I gotta go. Uh, end call!" he said quickly, jumping down into the open front deck with the crooks. Adelaide, still stuck in a quasi trance, somehow tumbled in after him, successfully managing to not land on her face.

"Hey—"

"I'll take those!" Peter said, snatching the keychain from the men, "Yoink!"

He landed on the deck, looking around.

"Hey, guys. The illegal-weapons-deal-ferry was at 10:30. You missed it," he grinned.

Adelaide immediately leaped into action.

She disarmed two men standing off to the side at once by turning herself invisible and knocking them out with an elbow to the nose. Before they could get back up, she kicked Gargan's feet out from underneath him and then slammed him onto the floor, hard.

Meanwhile, Peter ducked from a blow from the Shocker gauntlet which ended up getting caught in the gate at the edge of the deck. Peter snatched him with a web and threw him beside the gauntlet, webbing both together to the gate.

Suddenly, two more thugs appeared behind him.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Not so fast," Peter said and he quickly shot out two webs at them and swung them into the gate. They crumpled to the floor.

"Are you guys okay? My bad," he said innocently, cocking his head, "That was a little hard."

He glanced at the man webbed to the gate who he had seen by the bridge that night.

"I gotta say the other guy was way better with that thing," he said while reloading his web shooters.

"I'm honestly, I'm...I'm shocked."

He effortlessly shot a web grenade behind himself without even turning around at another thug that was about to attack him.

The Blue Phantom appeared beside him, turning herself visible. Her face was set as she looked out at the river.

"We have to get to the lower level and get the dealers," she said to him. But before he could reply, there was a commotion.

"Freeze! FBI!"
