Chapter 21

Brooke's POV

I rang the doorbell to Adam's house and stood there awkwardly waiting for someone to open the door. I stood up straighter once the door opened to find a thirteen year old boy staring at me.

"ADAM!" He yelled, "There's a girl here."

Adam ran over in a flash and grinned, "Hey,"

"I'm going to Alex's," The boy said rolling his eyes as he walked out the door.

"Ok, BYE Luke-y poo," Adam yelled after him, "Be home by ten!" I could just picture him rolling his eyes and walking a little bit faster.

"So that's your brother?" I asked entering the house.

"Yup?" Adam said. We walked into the living room where the game was playing on the tv screen.

"Happy birthday Adam," I smiled giving him the bags I had.

"Thanks," He said giving me a small kiss before taking the plastic bags. "Is this food?"

"Yea, its hard to find stuff for guys," I shrugged.

"That's food? What kinda food?" Tiana asked peeking over the couch.

"Chips, chicken wings, salsa, and nacho cheese," I listed.

"Thank you! Clayton is hogging the bag," Tiana said looking relieved. We looked at Clayton who was shoving a handful of chips into his mouth.

"What?" Clayton asked his mouth full of chips. I rolled my eyes and opened a new bag. I handed it to Tiana and sat down next to Adam.

"Wait. . . When did Zac and Shawna and Vienna get here?" I asked peering over at them.

"Um they've been here," Tiana said slowly.

"Oh," I said and then I noticed that Zac and I were wearing our jerseys. Our matching Baltimore Ravens jerseys. Jersey number 2 for me and number 13 for him. Darn it. Why did the Ravens make it to the super bowl?

"So baby, if you want anything else just ask," I grinned giving him a wink.

"I'll consider that," He smirked. I took a quick glance at Zac and he was glaring at me. Suddenly a German Shepard jumped onto my lap.

I started laughing as he licked my face. "Is this your dog? What's his name?"

"Yea, his name's Delgado," Adam grinned petting the dog's head.

"He's so cute," I gushed, but Delgado jumped off my lap and went to Shawna.

"Eww! Get it off!" She screeched as he licked her face.

"Come here boy," Adam said using a puppy voice.

"Aww you just got a hundred percent cuter," I smiled pinching Adam's cheeks. Adam was about to kiss me when Delgado jumped into his lap.

"Cock block!" Vienna yelled, "I love this dog!"

"Why is she even here?" I asked biting my lip.

"Because she's my friend," Shawna pouted.

I scoffed and ignored her.

"Do you guys want any chicken wings?" Clayton asked pulling the box out of the bag.

"Sure why not," Adam said reaching for one. Soon we all had one except for Shawna and Vienna.

"You sure you guys don't want one?" Clayton asked waving the half eaten chicken wing in their faces.

"Eww no, that's gross just look at her," Shawna said pointing at me.

I wiped my face and licked my fingers, "What? Me gross?"

Then the word 'touchdown' appeared on the screen of the TV and we all jumped up except for Shawna and Vienna.

"Guys the Ravens got a touchdown; they're winning now," We said to them, but they just looked at us with boredom. I reached over to give Adam a kiss, just as Zac kissed Shawna.

"So, baby, did you think of anything yet?" I asked flirtatiously, putting on another act.

"Hmm, I don't know," He said licking his bottom lip.

"Can you pick now? The game is gonna end soon and then I'll have to leave," I pouted.

"Can you stay for the night?" He asked hopefully while Zac watched with wide eyes.

"Are you're parents home?" I asked.

"No, they're coming back with my little sister at midnight," He said giving me a sly grin.

"Well then, I do believe I can stay," I smiled.

"Come," He grinned mischievously, pulling me towards the stairs leaving everyone behind.

"Where are we going?" I asked following him up the stairs, forgetting the ongoing game.

"My room," He smirked as he opened the door.

"Wow. It's so clean," I said in awe at his organized room. "Is that a guitar? Can you play?"

"You ask alot of questions," Adam chuckled, "Yes, I can play. Want me to play something?"

"Sure. . .  Wait, I think someone's coming," I whispered.

"Who?" Adam whispered back.

"Zac, who else?" I said simply.

"Come here," Adam whispered patting is lap. I quickly agreed, climbed onto his lap and wrapped my legs around his waist.

Just as our lips brushed, Zac opened the door, "Oh sorry, I'm interrupting am I?"

"Yea," Adam said awkwardly.

"How come whenever we're doing something you're always here also?" I said coolly. I watched as he tried to say something but couldn't.

"Well, we need to get back to the game, right Brooke?" Adam asked holding my hand in one hand and his guitar in the other. We walked back into the living room just as the game was about to end.

"What's happening?" Adam asked Clayton.

"Ravens are down by six," Clayton sighed staring at the screen. We watched as the players hiked the ball. The players ran down the field blocking all of the opponents from tackling the player with the ball. Touchdown. The crowd roared and so did we except for Vienna and Shawna. One more point to break the tie. The player kicked the ball and it went straight through the goal post.

We all started hollering, except Shawna and Vienna, who didn't know what was going on. I turned around to face Adam, who kissed me right on the lips.

"Aww this is so cute," Tiana said as the click of a camera went off.

"Tiana go kiss your boyfriend," I said rolling my eyes as I threw a pillow at her.

"Gladly," She smiled as she turned to Clayton.

"Can you play something now?" I asked Adam.

"Sure," He smiled softly as he sat down on the sofa.

"Beautiful girls all over the world.

I could be chasing but my time would be wasted.

They got nothin' on you baby.

Nothin' on you baby

They might say hi and I might say hey.

But you shouldn't worry about what they say.

'Cause they got nothin' on you baby.

Nothin' on you baby," He sang as he played his guitar. Soon he finished the song and of course I had to kiss him after that.

"That was really good," I smiled.

"Naw, I'm not that good," Adam said running a hand through his dark hair.

"Yes, you are good, that was adorable!" Tiana squealed.

"Well, we need to go now. Thanks for the show Adam," Clayton said winking as he took Tiana's hand and walked towards the door.

"Brooke, you're staying here, right?" Tiana asked.

"Yea," I grinned.

"Uh what are you gonna do?" Zac asked awkwardly.

"Um just hang out," I said.

"And other stuff," Adam added suggestively waggling his eyebrows.

"Well, bye," Clayton and Tiana yelled as they exited.

"I should leave too, It's gonna get dark," Vienna said, "Shawna want to come with me?"

"It's already dark," I pointed out.

"Whatever," She said rolling her eyes.

"Sure, I'll come with you," Shawna said as she grabbed her stuff. And then there were three of us; four if you count Adam's brother who just came home.

"Brooke I need to talk to you," Zac said, completely aware of Adam standing right there. I looked at Adam and he just gave me a small nod. So Zac walked me towards the kitchen for some privacy before opening his mouth.

Zac's POV

"Brooke. Are you really gonna stay here?" I asked.

"Yea," She shrugged.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because it's his birthday," She said blankly.

"Well, don't do anything stupid," I said giving her a hug. She flinched at first, but then she softened up.

"Zac," She started, "You never told me why you left."

"It's uh complicated," I lied.

"Oh, well I think you should go now," She said, trying not to make eye contact with me as she pulled away from my hug.

"Um ok," I said giving her a small peck on the cheek as I walked out of the kitchen.

"Bye Adam," I said as I grabbed my coat and headed out the door.

Adam's POV

"So what do you wanna do now?" I asked Brooke.

"Well it's already ten, so how about sleep?" Brooke asked yawning.

"Sure," I smiled. I carried her up the stairs and gave her a t-shirt and a pair of pyjama pants. Once she changed into the clothes, I realized the shirt was too big but she still looked good in it.

"Um, do you have a sweatshirt or something? It might get cold at night," She asked.

"I'll keep you warm," I said waggling my eyebrows as she rolled her eyes. I reached into my closet and pulled out a dark gray hoodie, my favorite one, whatever. I'm too lazy to get a different one. After brushing our teeth and all that, we climbed into bed.

Brooke's POV

"So what'd Zac say?" Adam asked wrapping his arms around me.

I brushed the thought of sparks when he touch me out of my mind and answered him, "He just thought we were gonna do stuff,"

"Well we technically are doing stuff," Adam said and I could just imagine him waggling his eyebrows.

"You're a weirdo," I said lightly smacking his head.

"But I'm your weirdo," Adam said smiling as he leaned in closing the space between us. This kiss was different though. It wasn't quick, it was fairly long. Somehow during that kiss I ended up on top of him. Soon enough I pulled away and looked at him.

"Well, now we have something to tell Zac," Adam laughed.

"Yea," I said laughing along, but what he didn't know was that something hit me after that kiss. I liked him. I swore that I wouldn't, I think? My mind snapped out of my thoughts when I heard laughter.

"What are you laughing at?" I asked peering at the person next to me.

"Why are you smiling?" He asked. Suddenly I realized that I was grinning like an idiot. I scrambled my brain for something to say but all I could say was, "Uh, um,"

"Well, ok. . . Go to sleep now," Adam said yawning putting his hands over my face.

"I can't breathe," I said through his hand, but he still didn't move his hand. "I'm dying!" I said, trying to pry his hand off of my face. Still he wouldn't remove his hand, so I had to resort to drastic measures.

"Did you just bite me?" Adam asked raising an eyebrow.

"Yup," I answered finally he removed his hand from my face.

"Well I find that kinda attractive," He smirked.

"Oh," I said feeling the blush rise to my cheeks.

"Well go to sleep," Adam said again.

"Ok," I sighed as I rested my head in the crook of his neck and closed my eyes.

Adam's POV

Finally, Brooke was asleep. Yes it sounds creepy that I'm watching her sleep, but she looks so innocent when she sleeps. I watched as her chest rose and fell as she breathed. I thought for a moment. I should tell her, but I can't. It will probably make this whole situation awkward. Soon I fell asleep drowned in my thoughts.
