Chapter 15

Brooke's POV

"Hi Adam!" I smiled. I give him a peck on the cheek, just to see Zac's reaction. "Zac, Shawna. Vienna? Why are you here?"

"I'm Shawna's friend. Remember?" She retorted.

"Yea, but isn't it awkward watching your ex with another girl?" I pouted innocently.

She frowned and opened her mouth, but another voice cut her off.

"Hi!" Tiana cried.

"Who are you?" Shawna sneered.

"I'm the princess of China! Duh, how could you not know who I am?" Tiana gasped as Shawna's mouth dropped. I held back laughter as she tried to think of something to say.

"I don't care who you are," She sniffed as she strutted away pulling Zac with her, while Vienna scampered behind her. Once she was gone we all burst out laughing.

"Wow. I can't believe she bought that," I said trying to catch my breath.

"Yea, there aren't any princesses in China," Tiana laughed.

"And if there were, they probably couldn't speak English," Adam chuckled.

"Oh well I need to get some stuff from history, so I'll leave you two lovebirds alone," Tiana giggled as she headed towards the stairs leading to the class room.

After she left there was an awkward silence in the air between Adam and I until I decided to break it, "So, I need to ask you something. Will you come to the 2011 Fall Fashion Show with me?"

"Why? Can't you get Tiana to come with you?" Adam asked wrinkling his nose.

"She's busy, so is Clayton, and Zac isn't an option" I said giving him my puppy dog eyes.

"What day is it?" He sighed.

"Next Saturday at three o' clock in Los Angeles," I said. It wasn't that bad LA is only a twenty minute drive from here.

"I can't. I'm busy," He shrugged.

"Don't lie," I said glaring at him.

"You lied. You said you can't dance," He scowled accusingly.

"That's because I can't," I pouted.

"But you can," He said bluntly.

"So will you come," I asked, hopefully he'll say yes.

He stood there thinking for a moment, "Ok. But you have to tell me everything about Brandon,"

"One thing about him," I grimaced.

"Two things," He said firmly.

"Ok deal," I smirked.

"Start talking," He smirked deviously.

"Ok first we dated last year. Second he moved right after we broke up. The end," I smiled just as the bell rang signalling that class is starting.

                                                           -------------------------------------

I sighed staring up at the board where our pedophile of a teacher explained today's lesson. I rolled my eyes to myself when he repeated the same 'make me happy and tell me the answer' phrase that he says every single day. I was drawing elephants in my notebook when a folded piece of paper landed on my desk. I looked at the boy next to me and he just shrugged. I looked around and carefully unfolded the paper.

I need to talk to you. If you don't reply, I'll take it as you want to talk to -Caz

Caz.

One simple word that brought back memories. We were in fourth grade, and during lunch Zac sat directly across from me at our table.

"Caz," I said.

"What?" He asked slightly confused.

"That's your name backwards," I smiled.

"Oh, and your name backwards is . . .Ekoorb," He said slowly, "These can be our code names!"

"Yeah," I agreed smiling.

I cleared my mind of the memory and re-read the note. I scribbled 'I don't want to' on it and passed it back towards Zac, watching as my classmates passed it to him. His eyes lit up when the note landed on his desk. He eagerly opened it, but when he started reading he frowned and looked over at me. I gave him a quick glare and looked away.

                                                     -------------------------------------------------

I pushed my hair back with a simple white hairband and smoothed my sunset orange dress. I grabbed my cropped jean jacket and headed towards the door. I slipped on my cowboy boots and opened the door to see Adam just about to ring the doorbell.

"Good timing," He smirked.

"Come on we're going to be late," I rolled my eyes.

"I can't believe I agreed to this," He muttered as we entered his car.

"Well, I had to take someone," I shrugged buckling my seat belt.

"Hey, is it true that Zac was giving you notes during math?" Adam asked raising an eyebrow suggestively.

"Yup," I chirped.

"Well Shawna's gonna be happy that her boyfriend is exchanging love notes with you," Adam laughed.

"What?! We didn't exchange love notes. He wanted to talk to me," I pout.

"Yea, 'cause that's so much better," Adam chuckled.

"Oh, whatever I don't want to talk to Zac anyway," I said crossing my arms, and for the rest of the ride we stayed silent.

We got seated in the front row, right next to my dad. Awkward? Yes. By now my mom would've told my dad about me dating Adam. Luckily, my dad didn't say anything, yet.

"Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the 2011 Fall Fashion Show here in Los Angeles," The announcer said over the speakers. The first few models started coming out from behind the curtain and we watched and clapped.

"You should smile more," Adam whispered as I jumped slightly from his voice.

"I do smile," I frowned. Oh wait that isn't helping me.

"Sure," He giggled.

"You just giggled," I smiled.

"No, I chuckled," He said.

"No that was definitely a giggle," I smiled.

"Whatever," He waived me off and turned his attention to the next model strutting down the runway.

"And that's all folks, have a good evening," The announcer stated clearly through the microphone. I dragged Adam through the crowd of people toawards the exit. I took a breath of the fresh air and smiled.

"Come on, let's go," I smiled.

"What about your parents?" Adam asked.

"They're going to the after party," I shrugged and I walked towards his car.

"Hey, you hungry?" Adam asked getting into the car.

"Yea, kinda. Why?" I responded vaguely.

"We're going to dinner," He said giving me a sly smile.

"What?! But I need to get home," I frowned crossing my arms.

"Why? To do your homework?" He said giving me a flat look, "Come on, it'll be fun,"

"Sure. Where are we going though?" I said giving in to him.

"Leomoine's. I know the guy who runs it," Adam said.

                                                     ----------------------------------------

"Sorentino!" Adam yelled giving a man with an awesome mustache, one of those handshake hugs.

"So, is this your one hundreth girlfriend?" The man said with a light Italian accent.

"She's not my girlfriend. She's just a friend," Adam said as his cheeks turned slightly pink. We walked through the crouded restaurant until we reached the back door.

"Sorry, we have a lot of people today, so you guys will sit outside," Sorentino said sheepishly, "Hey, what's your name?"

"Oh, uh Brooke," I smiled.

"Oh, well, you two get settled and I'll get your menus," He said as he ushered us into an empty ally.

"Wow, it's really pretty here," I said as I looked around. It was lit up with paper lanterns strung up overhead, and ivy was clinging on the brick walls.

"Ok here are your menus," Sorentino said as he passed us the maroon folders, "And I'll leave you two to decide,"

"Is he the owner?" I asked.

"Yeah, but he also cooks," Adam said watching me read the menu.

Sorentino appeared again,"Ok you guys ready?"

"Yea. Can I get the fettuccine bolognese, please," I asked closing the menu.

"And I'm pretty sure you're getting the usual?" He asked Adam.

"Yup," Adam smiled. Turns out that the usual was the same thing I had ordered.

"You sure this isn't your girlfriend?" Sorentino asked again.

"Yes I'm sure," Adam sighed patting him on the back. Soon Sorentino was back with two plates on a black tray. Doesn't he have a full house?

"Thank you," I smiled as he laid the plates in front of us. I took a small bite and moaned. Gosh, this is really good. I looked over at Adam who was just trying to hold back his laughter.

"What?" I said trying to frown, but with possibly the best Italian food it's kinda hard to.

"You moaned," He smirked.

"Your point is?" I asked.

"Never mind," He said as he shoved another fork full into his mouth. Soon we finished all the food, and I insisted on paying even if Sorentino didn't want my money.

"So are you gonna take me home now?" I asked batting my eyelashes.

"Yes, I am," He said while messing up my hair.

                                                             ---------------------------------------

"Ok, you're back home safe and sound," Adam chuckled.

"Why, thank you," I laughed rolling my eyes. I glanced over to the clock, 9:30. "Well, thank you. Bye," I turned to exit his car.

"Wait," Adam called. I turned around and met his lips. The whole time I wasn't thinking. I wasn't thinking of Zac. I just wasn't thinking. I pulled away and gave him a confused look.

"Remember, we're in love, so it's okay to kiss me anytime you feel like it," He shrugged.

"Uh, sure," I said as I kissed him on the cheek. I opened the door, stepped out, and waved goodbye to Adam.

I pulled off my boots and sunk down into the couch. And that's when I started thinking. Why did he kiss me? No one was around, I think. He's a player. He's probably just using me. Suddenly, the doorbell rang snapping me out of my thoughts. Sighing, I stood up and walked towards the door.

"She's not here," I groaned after opening the door.

"I'm not looking for her," The person said. I looked up and gasped.

"Zac?" I whispered.
