FRANKENSTEIN
04 | Into the Jungle.

Frankie's View

Inexcusable, too bad to be justified or tolerated. That was the description of my actions two weeks ago.

Guilt, culpable of or responsible for a specified wrongdoing. That was the description of my emotions as of late.

Two weeks ago I had woken up almost seventeen hours after I had sent Carlisle flying into the woods. The Cullen's soon explained I had misunderstood, causing me to feel absolutely disgusted with myself.

Every single one of them told me it wasn't my fault, and it was just miscommunication. None of their attempts at reassuring me helped though. I had apologized to Carlisle multiple times and even went as far as to tell him to 'send me back to the facility, as I was nothing but trouble'.

After I said that Carlisle lectured me for over an hour on how I was part of the family, and how they all loved me too much to ever send me back without a plausible reason. Those comments sure did lift my spirits up big time, though I was still feeling guilty.

This brings me to where I am now, my room in the Cullen's household. In my mind it was simply a 'guest room', but Carlisle always told me that this was my room. Currently, I was hanging upside down on the edge of the bed reading 'Frankenstein' for the third time.

I was correct in assuming that I'd enjoy the book, as I barely parted with it. I took it everywhere with me from SHARE'S facility to just a casual trip at Costco.

"I do know that for the sympathy of one living being, I would make peace with all. I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other." I read the line silently to myself.

That line, in particular, called out to me. In my opinion, the quote summed me up pretty well, for I had both love and rage in my heart. The two battle for control at every moment of the day. Love was generally the winning side; however, there were some moments that rage would gain the upper hand.

Take me tossing Carlisle in the woods for example, in that moment rage had won. A sigh escaped my lips as a thought about that forsaken moment once more. I closed the book and traced the cover lightly with my fingers sitting up on my bed.

A knock sounded at the door causing me to flick my eyes to it. A moment later Bella walked in with a small smile. Her hands rested in the pockets of her jeans and she awkwardly bounced on the balls of her feet.

"We're having a family meeting downstairs." Bella nodded her head directing me to follow her as she left the room. I threw Frankenstein on my bed and raced after Bella, my pajama pants swaying.

As we descended down the stairs my eyes caught sight of both the Cullen's and Quileute's sitting around the large living room space. I was slightly confused as to why the Quileute's were joining the family meeting as well. I shrugged it off, as it was most definitely not my place to be questioning who was and wasn't allowed at a family meeting. I was lucky that they allowed myself to join.

The entire group of people was silent as they watched me. All their gazes stuck to my body not leaving once, to be honest, it was slightly nerve-racking. Rosalie patted the space next to where she was sitting, a small smile adorning her features.

I sat in the space next to her and gazed around at everyone curiously. They all wore sullen expressions as if they were sad. Edward cleared his throat taking the lead looking to me sadly.

"Frankie, we have been keeping sonething from you for quite a while..." Edward trailed off glancing at everybody in the room.

Carlisle then walked to my side and gave me a welcoming smile. "Have you noticed any oddities about us?" Carlisle asked me softly.

I frowned looking to all them in confusion. They looked normal to me, other than Emmett's eyes. They were too small for his face in my opinion but I'd never tell him that. I slowly shook my head from side to side confused at their behavior.

"Aren't we all extremely beautiful compared to other people you've seen?" Emmett butted in earning glares from the rest of his family.

"Well yes, you are very attractive compared to everyone else. Though I didn't want to be rude so I didn't say anything." I informed them, they gave small laughs in return.

"Frankie, what we are trying to explain is that our family is very different from other's, we have been for a very long time. We are different from those you encounter in town and at SHARE. We are different from the normal laws of society." Jasper explained soothingly.

"We're vampires!" Bella suddenly spat out for everyone.

"Actually I'm a hybrid and they are shape-shifters." Renesmee pointed to herself and the Quileute's.

I scrunched my eyebrows still not fully understanding. What were any of those? "What is a 'vampire'?" I questioned softly, looking at Esme.

"Allow me to elaborate in the most basic way possible," Carlisle stated gently, resting an arm on my shoulder. "Vampires are immortal creatures, who never age past the date they were turned. Along with naturally enhanced beauty, we have some other assets such as speed, and sense's, also as the myth's say vampires drink blood. Our family is different though, we drink the blood of animals whereas most drink from a human, that is why our eyes are golden while a vampire that drinks human blood would have crimson eyes. Few vampires have something alike to a sixth sense, or a 'gift' as our world calls it.

Edward, Alice, Jasper, Bella, and Renesmee are all gifted. Edward can read thoughts, Alice has visions of a potential future, Jasper is an empath meaning he can feel and control emotions, Renesmee can show you her thoughts with a simple touch, and Bella is a shield to these gifts meaning she blocks all mental gifts out." Carlisle explained pausing to see if I had any questions.

For the most part, I understood, but I did have one question. "Can you read my thoughts?" I asked Edward with a smile.

Edward smiled back. "No, actually none of us can use our gifts on you, it's quite interesting really. The only one who's even come close to potentially using their gift with you is Alice, and even then it's only when she's reading someone else's future and you just happen to be there." Edward chuckled a bit causing a large grin to grow on my face. I was quite happy, really. Now I wasn't the only odd one here.

"Anyway back on topic." Alice cut in. "Like Renesmee said before she's a hybrid, a hybrid of a vampire and human, Edward and Bella's daughter." That explained why I've caught Renesmee calling Bella and Edward her parents on multiple occasions. "Now in the vampire world, we have a coven called the Volturi. They are the closest thing our world has to royalty. It's lead by Caius and Marcus who are co-leaders, and Aro the main leader. They basically enforce the laws of the vampire race, there aren't very many, but there are two main rules.

Rule one, never tell a human about our existence, Rule two, never create an immortal child. The Volturi believed Renesmee was an immortal child and came to kill her when she was only a child. We were able to convince the Volturi of our innocence and made an agreement for them to see Renesmee once she reached maturity. Renesmee has reached maturity and the Volturi have now decided to make the journey here to witness what she has grown into and ensure no laws have been broken. They'll be here in three days exactly. In the vampire world, we have mates, mates are basically your soul-mate, your perfect match. I had a vision, when the Volturi get here, Aro will see you through our thoughts and realize what you are to him. Frankie, you're Aro's mate." Alice finished.

Everyone watched to see my reaction. I simply shrugged my shoulders. "Okay," I said

"Okay?" Jacob echoed back. "You're telling me you're just 'okay' with this? Do you know what this means Frankie? Aro is going to take you back to Volterra with him!" Jacob raised his voice.

"No, he won't," I stated simply shrugging my shoulders not very concerned. Even if Aro was going to be taking me I don't think I'd have much of a problem with it. It would be nice to get away from SHARE, and if what the Cullen's were telling me about a mate was true then I would love to have one.

"Why not? Who's stopping him. This is basically the king of vampires we're talking about." Leah spoke raising an eyebrow. The Cullen's were also curious as to why I was not panicking.

"I'm subject 2935F at the Scientific Human Advanced Restricted Experimentation. I am not undead like you guys, I'm am quite literally someone who has died and returned to the land of the living. There are too many factors against this, he cannot just take me." I pointed out.

"She has a point," Emmett added after a moment of silence. "Listen I don't know how he does it, but Aro somehow manages to take Frankie with him, I saw it!" Alice let out a frustrated sigh referring to her vision.

I let out a sigh looking to the ground. Carlisle wrapped an arm around me and kissed the top of my head in a fatherly manner. "It'll be okay, I promise."
