FRANKENSTEIN
17 | Drumming Song.

"CARLISLE." My voice was just above a whisper, as I spoke on the phone.

We had gotten back just an hour ago, and I had practically run to Aro's chambers. Chelsea offered to help me put all the clothes away, but I told her that I would probably take a nap first to catch up on my missing sleep.

Of course, that was a lie, considering that with how I currently felt I most likely wouldn't be able to sleep anytime soon. No matter how much I wanted to.

The Advil somewhat worked for about thirty minutes of the trip before it wore off and left me feeling sick to my stomach. I was surprised that I had managed not to barf throughout the car ride.

The three had noticed something off about me, but I simply played it off as being tired. I was trying refrain Aro from finding out about my sickness, partly because I didn't want his guard getting in trouble for feeding me food which I wasn't allowed to have, the other part being I simply didn't want to come off as troublesome. I didn't want Aro stressing over my health when he had more important matters to attend to. Plus, I'm sure to a vampire, human things like this must've been extra gross.

The chocolate bar didn't help at all. It made it worse if anything. After running a marathon to get to Aro's chamber's I was immediately over the toilet puking up what felt like my intestines. That traumatic experience lasted a total of five minutes until I finally had nothing left to puke up.

I now stood in front of the bathroom mirror on the phone with Carlisle, because I was at a loss for what to do. Staring back at me was an obviously unhealthy girl. My face was sickly pale, and purple almost black bags were under my eyes.

"Frankie? It's so good to hear from you, how's everything going?" Carlisle's voice came through the speaker.

"Everything's good, but I had to call with some really bad news," I said bringing a hand up to let my hair out of the bun.

"What's wrong?" He asked his voice taking a serious tone.

"Okay, to cut a long story short, I saved Demetri from some weirdo but ended up eating a 'vegetarian' pizza. It's been about an hour and a half since I ate it, and Advil didn't help." I spoke in a rushed tone.

"Frankie! Why would you do that! Don't remember what happened the last time you ate something without meat? You didn't even eat the entire salad, and you were still sick for days! At least tell me you didn't eat the whole thing?" Carlisle scolded through the phone.

"I know, I know, I wasn't thinking about the consequences of my actions. Unfortunately, I did eat the whole thing." I sighed, earning an annoyed huff from him.

"Frankie, you're going to be bedridden within the hour. You're most likely going to feel even worse than last time since you ate the entire thing." Carlisle informed.

"I know, I already vomited everything up, and my body's beginning to feel achy - like it's shutting down on me. Is there anything I can do?" I asked resting a palm against my forehead. "Darn it, I'm already burning up," I added upon feeling my warm head.

"Everything that could even possibly help is back at the lab, you could try over-the-counter medication, but I doubt that would do very much. If it comes down to it, they may need to just knock you out with high anesthetics. Here, let me talk to Aro because he's going to need to know exactly how much anesthetic you should be taking." Carlisle stated over the phone.

"Aha, well...um...you see, it's quite the funny story..." I trailed off getting interrupted by Carlisle "Frankie, what's going on?" He questioned sternly, in a fatherly manner.

"Okay, Aro doesn't know. No one does." I admitted with a defeated tone.

"Why not?" He gently questioned.

"Because I don't want him to know. I don't want to become a bother to him, the last thing he needs is to worry over my health. Plus, he really doesn't need to see me sick." I attempted to clarify my actions.

"He's your mate, Frankie." Carlisle deadpanned. "Either way he's eventually going to see you sick, and he'll be mad that you didn't tell him. It's better if you go and tell him now, rather than trying to hide it from him. Aro needs to know." He added gently.

"I know." I sighed placing the phone on speaker, setting it on the counter. I rested my hands against the counter and leaned forward staring at my sickly reflection. "God," I muttered rubbing my head which was beginning to pound.

"You're not going to tell him, are you?" Carlisle said calmly through the phone.

"You're right, I'm not," I admitted with a pained groan.

"Edward, get the Volturi on the other line please." I heard Carlisle shout.

"Wait no! Please don't!" I begged him.

"He needs to know as soon as possible Frankie." He said exasperatedly.

"I know but..." I trailed off as my vision began to get slightly blurry.

"Frankie. Frankie? Frankie!" I heard Carlisle yell through the phone gaining my attention once more.

"Sorry," I muttered shaking my head.

"Edward?" I could hear Carlisle say in a slightly frantic questioning tone.

"I'm stuck with the 'office', she's refusing to let me speak with Aro." I could hear Edward from the other side. "Miss, if I could just have a word with any vampire there? It doesn't even need to be the 'masters'." I could hear Edward attempting to bargain.

"Carlisle please don't," I said drowsily through the phone.

"Frankie, listen to yourself. You're delirious already! I can hear it in your voice, you need help!" He exclaimed to me.

"Okay, I'm getting Demetri on the line!" I could hear Edward's excited voice yell, earning a sigh of relief from Carlisle.

"Give it here, son," Carlisle told Edward before he presumably handed him the phone.

"Hello, Demetri. This is Carlisle Cullen, is there any way I can speak to Aro immediately. It's an emergency." I could hear Carlisle state before pausing. "It has to do with Frankie's health, I doubt she told you this - but for reason's unbeknown to us she can't eat anything that isn't in a carnivore diet, meals high in sugar being the only exception." I could hear Carlisle state. "Yes, she just told me that she ate a 'vegetarian' pizza earlier, and is now getting extremely sick from it. In fact, she's on our other line as we speak." I cringed knowing he was talking about me.

"Thank you." Carlisle paused for a second. "Aro, hello. I thought it best to inform you that your mate has decided she doesn't want to tell you she is becoming very ill from a food she ate earlier." I hung up the phone once I heard Carlisle say that, so I could only presume to be Aro.

"I'm an idiot," I said to myself as I walked to the bathroom door locking it.

I had long since taken my sweatshirt and shoes off, leaving me in my pajama's. Slowly, I walked back to the counter leaning my weight on it. I felt extremely delirious and began shaking my head constantly in an attempt at ridding the feeling.

My vision started becoming hazy, and my mouth felt dehydrated. I started panting pushing myself away from the counter stumbling slightly. My stomach suddenly lurched and once again I was over the toilet my puke coming up without stop.

The nasty bile taste remained in my throat as my body wretched and clenched over the toilet. Luckily, it only lasted a few moments and I was able to flush it after. Quickly, I washed my mouth out with water and splashed some on my face. A small whimper escaped my mouth as the pounding in my head increased.

"Frankie! Open this door now!" Aro knocked at the locked bathroom door.

My gaze suddenly snapped to the bathroom door which was jiggling at Aro's furious knocks. "Why on Earth would you eat something that put's you in danger! Then go and try to hide the fact that your sick from it? Carlisle told me everything, now I need you to open this door so I can properly tend to you." Aro yelled through the door.

"Aro? I'm so sorry." A sob left my lips as the pounding in my head and on the door became more persistent. "Oh God, it hurts!" I wailed out gripping my head.

"Open this door now!" Aro screamed, worry apparent in his voice. "I swear by God, if this door isn't opened, I will break it down!"

My vision was becoming a mass of swirls and colors by the second. My entire body hurt, and my legs became jelly. Without warning, I fell to the ground with a loud 'thud' curling into a ball. The cool marble greeted me as I rested on the ground. My hands continued to grip my head as I cried out in pain. Aro's screams for me and the pounding on the door were all tuned out. The only thing my mind processed was the drumming noise inside my head.

It was louder than anything else, and it continued on its beat. Finally, it became too much and I began scratching at my head trying to get it to stop. Everywhere felt tender, I felt so heavy that I couldn't even pull myself off the ground.

Small whimpers left me as I scratched my head desperate to get the thumping to stop. "Move away from the door, I'm breaking it down!" About five seconds after Aro had said that the door fell to the cool marble ground with a heavy thud.

In milliseconds my body was lifted into Aro's arms and suddenly I was on the soft bed. "Shh, my sweet. It's okay, you'll be okay." Aro coaxed me as he fluffed the pillows and shifted the duvet.

Everything hurt. I didn't remember feeling this terrible last time. Note to self: Never spare Demetri's feelings again.

Instantly Aro was laying next to me moving my hands away from my head. His presence seemed to make the pain slightly more bearable. I moved my sore body so I was cuddled next to Aro - almost on top of him at this point.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry." I kept muttering the words in Aro's chest.

"Shh, it's okay." He whispered back, kissing the top of my hair while holding me tight against him.

"Don't leave, please don't leave me," I begged in a whisper.

"I promise, I'm not going anywhere."

Suddenly my head felt like it exploded. Colors everywhere, vibrant bold colors. Then my vision began changing like I was moving somewhere else. It was an odd sensation.

~

Images flew behind my eyes. Images that I barely understood. A warm sunny day, a man worth billions of dollars, and a little girl with flaming hair - and apple green eyes. But suddenly the images took a turn to a slightly more dark perspective of life.

Black blood drizzling down a girl's lips, shadows trapped somewhere, and a familiar looking girl no older than seventeen talking to a transparent woman. A woman who appeared to be clothed from a different time and who floated.

Then it all stopped and I was pulled somewhere different.

~

"Come here, little girl." A well-dressed man stated motioning an auburn haired little girl toward him.

The man wore an expensive suit with sunglasses covering his eyes. He bent down and opened his arms in an embrace. The little girl who wore a bright yellow sun-dress, and had her hair braided back in two ran to the man's open arms. The man let out a laugh standing up with the little girl gathered in his arms.

The two were on a roadside cliff, which leads down to a view of the ocean. It was a beautiful scene, to say the least.

"Where are your shoes, little one?" He questioned the girl only receiving a giggle in reply.

"I don't know." She laughed dramatically shrugging her shoulders.

"You're daddy's youngest you know, which means you have the honor of being his favorite." He stated placing a tender kiss on the little girl's cheek.

"You love me more than everyone!" She shrieked with bubbly laughter.

"No, I love all my babies the same. But, you, my youngest girl, hold a special place in your old man's heart." He sighed dramatically placing a hand on his chest.

"Yay!" She cheered as the man spun her around.

"Oh, my darling. We, unfortunately, need to go back home and eat that terrible meatloaf your mother makes." He placed one last kiss on his daughter's cheek before walking towards an expensive looking car with his daughter in his arms.
