FRANKENSTEIN
34 | Arsonist Lullaby.

THE forest surrounded me. It was a familiar forest, the forest which both the Cullen's and the facility resided in. The only forest back in Elkins.

I quickly began twisting left and right, trying to find a break in the trees, someway out of this mess. Panic was growing inside me once I realized that despite knowing which forest this was, I had no idea where I was inside of it.

My breath's came in ragged gasps as my feet darted to my right. I had to find a way out. It seemed like there was no way out, as if the trees just went on for a lifetime. Branches were swatted away from my face, and twigs were broken by my feet. After thirty seconds of running I came to a clearing.

I paused in the clearing looking around for any sign of a road. However, I began panicking once I saw the little girl standing across from me. The same little girl which turned into that foul monster.

I took a step back, once she stepped toward me. "Don't be frightened, I am a friend." She tried to reassure me.

"Who are you?" I demanded an answer from her.

"I am someone very close to you." She answered, her voice high-pitched.

"I don't know you." I spit at her. "Get away from me."

"I can understand your hostility towards me, but I promise those demons can't get in your own head unless you let them." She attempted to walk toward me.

I held up a hand, motioning for her to not come any closer. Her facial expression turned into that of annoyance.

"Listen." She started. "I thought appearing in the shape of a trust-worthy person would help, but it appears not - so I am going to get straight to the point." The little girl snapped, obviously fed up.

"That chip in your brain is not good! It's stopping you from important knowledge, therefore stopping your true-self all together. Your true-self not being here, isn't good. In fact, it's very bad, because now there is no one to keep the spirits at balance. You being alive when you're suppose to be dead has already affected a lot, but now you not remembering has completely tipped the scales. So, you need to remember your past - you need to know who you are." The little girl finished, crossing her arms.

"And how exactly am I suppose to do that?"

"In order to remember who you are, you need to forget who they told you to be." She answered, mysteriously.

"What-" I paused when I saw her disappearing. "Wait!" I yelled, but she was already gone.

I panicked when everything seemed to be ripped away. Including myself.

~

I gasped jumping up from my spot asleep. I looked around confused as to how I got here. My dress was discarded to the other side of the room, leaving me covered in only my undergarments. I figured Aro must have undressed me for the night, as most of the car ride was a blur.

I rubbed my head, which had a slight headache and groggily made my way to the bathroom. After showering I opted for just wearing pajamas, and leaving my hair down. I was in no mood to actually put on clothes for the day. I knew it'd probably annoy Aro to no end, but I couldn't find it in myself to care that much.

I was stuck on the phrase 'to remember who you are, you need to forget who they told you to be.' I mean what was that suppose to mean. Could she have been referring to SHARE? I didn't know, but my head hurt just thinking about.

I was considering telling Aro, but I quickly tossed that idea down as I didn't want him thinking I was going crazy. I decided that if it didn't get any better than I would call Carlisle. As I exited the bathroom, that still didn't have a door on it I checked the time. I feel like Aro enjoyed not having a door, as he could watch me bathe freely.

The large shirt hung loose over my body, and the capri pants swayed as I walked. An inaudible whimper left me at the small pounding in my head. Apparently alcohol still affected me the same. Instead of putting on shoes, I went for putting a pair of fuzzy socks.

As I walked down the long corridors of the castle, I couldn't help but feel slightly paranoid. Whatever, that shadow thing was freaked me out. If I saw it again, I swear I'll punch it even harder than before.

I didn't sleep well at all last night. The under bags of my eyes were purple, and I couldn't stop yawning. My feet almost dragged as I walked, the event of last night taking its toll. Soon, I came by one of the many common rooms the guards had.

My attention was fixated on the familiar voice of Jane Volturi yelling, and a guard members pained screams. Hesitantly I walked in only to see a lower guard on the floor withering in pain, and Jane's fierce glare on her. Alec and Jane couldn't have been older than fifteen when they were turned.

"This is exactly the kind of crack work, I'd expect from someone like you." Jane hissed at the vampire who was begging for mercy. "Get out of here, while I go explain to the masters just how you let that human slip through your incapable fingers." After her cold voice rang out, she stopped using her gift on the poor soul.

The lower ranked vampire ran out of the room as fast as he could, passing me in a blur of movement. I looked back to Jane wide eyed, in slight disbelief. She only gave me a blank stare in return.

"We haven't been able to interact with each other much, I am Jane." She said, her tone able to compete with an angel.

"Hello." I gave her a polite smile, hoping I wouldn't get put on her bad side.

"Come, Aro has requested your presence." Jane tilted her head as she left the room, her dress dancing when she walked.

Jane's entire stature reminded me of a goddess. Everything about her, was beautiful. Yes, she couldn't have been older than fifteen when she was turned, but that didn't take away her beauty.

The two of us made the trip through the corridors in silence. I was caught up about my thoughts on what had been happening to me as of late. Was I going insane? No, I couldn't be. Quickly, I shook my head not wanting to get into things such as that. I had to distract myself.

"How old were you when you were turned?" I asked Jane, quickly, desperate to get out of my own frantic thoughts.

"I was fifteen, but I have been a vampire for over a thousand years." She said, not turning around to face me.

"That's a long-time. Doesn't it ever get boring?" I questioned.

I knew I asked this question multiple times, to different vampires. But I was curious as to each of their answers. Surely they couldn't be content all the time.

Jane seemed to hesitate for a second, before answering truthfully. "Yes." She admitted. "It does get boring, but the world is always changing. Besides, I can't expect to be entertained with something for every second of the day." She said.

I hummed in reply, happy with her answer. We were in a moment of silence once more, me trying my hardest not to get lost in my own mind.

"I heard last night was one of the best opera night's the master's have had in a while." I was thankful for Jane speaking.

"Really?" I asked, surprise leaking my tone.

"Yes, according to Athenodora, she would like to get you drunk more often."

"What!" I nearly shouting, panic lacing my tone. "Oh my gosh, last night is such a blur. What did I say?" I muttered to myself, pulling at my hair.

"I'm not sure, all I heard from Demetri is something about wanting to... uh..." Jane trailed off, an awkward look adorning her features. I swear if vampires could blush, Jane would be red as a tomato. "Get in bed with Aro." Jane spoke fast and quiet.

It was odd, seeing one of the most powerful vampires out there shy about sex. I figured it probably had to do with her age at being turned though. Then, it occurred to me what she actually said. I could've passed out from embarrassment then and there.

"Yep, I'm going back to Aro's chambers to hide away for the rest of my life." I nodded to myself, beginning to walk away from Jane.

"You can't though, master Aro said he wanted your presence as soon as you were awake." Jane said, causing me to turn back around.

I didn't want Jane to get in trouble for my actions. With a breath, I begrudgingly agreed. The rest of the walk was with me freaking out about being drunk last night. As soon as we got to the throne doors, I was shaking from anticipation.

"They are in the middle of their last case for the day, so when we enter we'll need to be quiet." Jane said to me, earning a nod in reply.

Stealthily, she opened the throne room doors, and slipped inside me by her side. The kings sat on their thrones, staring at a male vampire. Even with the vampire beauty, this guy looked like a mess. He hair was strewn all over the place, and he held a crazy look in his eye.

Momentarily Aro's attention was diverted to me, but he quickly placed his eyes back on the vampire before he could notice. Felix and Santiago stood by the doors, while Alec stood to the left of Marcus's throne. Renata was behind Aro's throne, Renata was an interesting character.

She was Aro's personal bodyguard, because of her ability to repel other gifts. Alike to Bella, the both of them were very powerful shields. Jane motioned me to the side of the room, where I went to stand. Jane herself went and stood by Caius's side, glaring threateningly at the vampire. I made sure to make no noise, as I didn't want to disrupt their work.

The mess of a vampire looked to the Volturi kings anxiously. Even though he had no need to breathe, he was still letting out very loud breath's. "Please." He muttered, just loud enough for the entirety of the room to hear.

"We don't encounter a lot of vampires such as yourself, willing to end their own existence." Aro said in a soft condescending tone.

"You are pathetic. A disgrace to our world." Caius hissed, at the sorry excuse for a vampire.

"Are you absolute in going through with this?" Marcus asked, in a voice barely above a whisper.

"Yes. She is gone, I have no reason to exist anymore. I am coming to join you, my Rachel." The vampire said, sadly.

Aro stood from his throne and slowly walked down the steps leading to the vampire. Felix and Santiago, were immediately there holding down the vampire. They pushed him to his knees, with blank looks. As soon as Aro stood in front of the vampire, he gripped his head gently.

Caius watched with a smirk, Marcus only giving a saddened look. Aro looked the vampire in the eyes, giving him a comforting reassuring smile. "This won't hurt a bit." I heard him say quietly to the vampire.

In seconds Aro had ripped off the vampires head, Santiago and Felix pulling off the arms. They threw the limbs to the side, Aro letting out a sad sigh. "Oh, the waste of such an existence."

It sounded like marble, as if someone had allowed rock to clash together. He got over it quickly though, turning to me with a large grin "Court dismissed, do as you please for the rest of the day." Aro said.

In fast movements the guard were gone, along with his brothers. I looked at the now empty throne room with a raised brow. "That was fast." I looked around, laughing.

"Yes, as you can tell our guards are quite keen on their free time, and Caius has been thinking of Athenodora all afternoon." Aro had a slightly disgusted look on his face at the last part.

I laughed at that, earning a small grin in reply. He came up to me and caught my face between his hands. In an instant our mouths clashed together as one. As we pulled away I gave him huge smile, happy I could finally get my mind of the possibly that I was going insane.

"But, I have been thinking of you all afternoon as well." Aro told me sweetly, resting our foreheads against each other.

The happiness I felt in that moment was unreal. I don't know that anyone could ever understand the feelings Aro Volturi gave me. Happiness, lust, love. However, it was love and happiness above all. I was so happy here, with him.

"You give me more joy than anyone ever has, as well." Aro said, beginning to trail kisses down my neck. "I love you." He told me, in between kisses.

"I love you too."

"Let's read this one!" I exclaimed, pulling the book Frankenstein off one of the shelves.

"And how many times have you read this?" Aro challenged, with a laugh.

I stuck my tongue out at him placing the book back on the shelf. He only tutted at me shaking his head.

"Do you have any suggestions, Mr. Frankie-can't-read-a-book-five-times-in-a-three-month-span?" That comment caused his jaw to fall open.

"Five times, in three months! How are you not bored of it already." Aro sighed. "I suggest we read this." Aro held up a book titled Gatsby.

"Okay." I smiled, happy we get to read. "Wait, have you read this before?" I hesitantly asked.

"Yes, I've read all these books at least once." He shrugged, causing me to do the same.

I walked over and took the book from him, studying the cover. "What are you hiding from me?" Aro asked me, causing me to freeze.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean every time I touch you, it is obvious you are trying very hard not to think about something. I would like to know what that is." Aro casually said, taking my hand between his own.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I tried.

Aro only sighed shaking his head. "I hoped we were past the point of keeping secrets, I guess I was wrong." I could tell by his voice he was disappointed, making me feel bad. "But I'll find out what it is eventually, I always do." The last sentence made my nerves go skyrocketing.

Soon, we began reading Gatsby, my nerves still on edge. I didn't want Aro finding out.
