CW: Unresistable fluff, emotional, mommy issues I guess

__________

After school you went straight into your bedroom, trying to be productive by finishing some homework assignments. You failed miserably. You had too many thoughts running through your head. You threw your biology textbook aside onto your bed and walked over to the record player. It was a gift from your mom, along with it you inherited her ABBA record collection, something that you cherished.

You looked through the unorganised row of records searching for Voulez-Vous. Eventually you eyes catch a glimpse of the blue albumcover, you pull it out. You wipe a thin layer of dust off of the cover before pulling the record out and placing it into the player. You watch as the needle tries to find track. There is a slight cracking sound before Chiquitita starts playing. You sit down onto the floor and keep watching it play, quietly joining in the singing at the chorus.

..Chiquitita, you and I know

How the heartaches come and they go

And the scars they're leaving

You'll be dancing once again

And the pain will end

You will have no time for grieving..

You can't help but think about Steve, again.

"Y/n? Please come downstairs!" Your mother calls for you just as you're about to burst into sobs. You clear your throat and start making your way downstairs.

"Yes mo-" You interrupt your own sentence. Billy is standing in the doorway, grinning up at your frozen statue on the stairs.

"Y/n, this young man has come here to discuss some school project with you." Your mom smiles, placing her hand on Billy's (surprisingly) covered arm. Billy chuckles.

"Have you forgotten, Y/n?" Billy asks you. The emphasis he puts on your name makes your knees weak.

"Oh yes, of course not." You hadn't forgotten because there was nothing to forget. You had no idea why Billy was at your house and even more curious, how did he know where you live?

Your mom leaves to continue working in the kitchen. You lead Billy into your room, closing the door behind him, but leaving it ajar. You turn around to face him. He is looking around your bedroom.

"What exactly are you doing here?"

His eyes stop wandering and meet yours.

"Finishing what we started last time."

Your breath hitches in your throat. Here? No way. Billy watches as you tense up. He takes a step towards you but turns to face the record player. You watch intently as he picks up the albumcover.

"ABBA? You got good taste in music, Y/n." He doesn't remove his eyes from the cover, almost like he's enchanted by it.

"You like ABBA?" You almost chuckle, you didn't take Billy as the guy who listens to ABBA.

"My mom used to play it to me." You watch his face fall.

Used to? You didn't dare to quiz him further. Does Your Mother Know starts to play. Painfully ironic. Billy clears his throat and puts the album down, neatly on top of the messy pile.

"Well.. Voulez Vous.. dance?" He asks in broken French.

You giggle. "I would love to."

He extends his hand out for you to grab. His warm fingers wrap interlock with yours as he pulls you in. The now familiar Ralph Lauren colone hugs you, making you feel safe. You make eye-contact, it's intense so you lower your gaze to his chest, where a golden locket rests. It's the shape of an oval, bits of the golden paint has chipped off at the corners. You finally look up, expecting to meet his eyes. Instead his gaze is focused on the wall behind you, his eyes look glossy and red. Your heart drops.

Instead of breaking the silence, you slide your arms around his shoulders and press your cheek against his chest. His arms quickly, but gently wrap around your waist. You stand there, swaying from side to side. Suddenly he clears his throat again and lets go of you. You lift your gaze to see him wipe his eyes.

"Sorry about that." He almost whisperes. You smile, grabbing his hand and leading him to your bed. You sit down, pulling him down with you.

"Do you want to talk about it?" You ask, making sure that he understands that you're there for him. He shakes his head no.

"Not right now, thank you, Y/n." He flashes you a genuiene smile. "I should get going."

You nod, not really wanting him to leave just yet. You stand up and start to walk him outside. At the bottom of the stairs you are met with your mother.

"Would you stay for dinner, Billy?"

"No mom-" You start.

"I would love to, Mrs. Y/l/n."
