IT WAS A WEEK LATER, and Brent still hasn't woken up. I would sneak in every night, and I would stay by his side until morning.

I was getting released from the hospital tomorrow, but I knew that I would be here every day for Brent.

The girls have visited me everyday, bringing romance movies and magazines. That was what we were doing now.

We were watching Mean Girls while eating ice cream. My ribs and head still hurt a lot, but they are getting better everyday.

"I can not wait to be out of this hospital room. It gets boring in here," I said, closing the lid on the ice cream.

"Are you staying at the hospital tomorrow after you check out?" Nichole asked before taking a bite of her ice cream.

"I want to, but Mom and Dad will probably make me go home and rest."

"It's only because they care," Anna said, pushing her hair out of her face.

I shrugged,"I know, but Brent needs me by his side."

Madison was pretty silent during the movie which is weird because Mean Girls is her favorite movie.

"Madison, are you okay?" I asked her, making all the girls look at her with concern look on their faces.

She shook her head,"No."

"What's wrong?" Hailey asked her.

Madison looked at the girls,"There is something I need to tell you guys."

"You can tell us anything, Mads," Anna said, making Madison take a deep breath.

"I'm moving to Utah in June," Madison blurted out with tears in her eyes.

The girls were shocked, unlike me who already knew.

"Why are you moving?" Nichole asked her.

"My father got a job there. I'm sorry I didn't tell you guys, but I couldn't bring myself to tell you guys. It was extremely hard to tell Gavin," Madison said before the girls hugged her.

I wish I was over there instead of this uncomfortable bed.

"It's going to be okay. We can Skype and text each other. We can make plans for you to come during the breaks," Hailey suggested, making us nod.

"Yeah, and we can come visit you in Utah too," I said, giving her a smile.

"You guys aren't mad at me?" Madison asked, wiping her tears away.

"No!" We all said at the same time making Madison laugh.

"We could never be mad at you," Anna said.

"Good because I don't know what I would do if all of my besties were mad at me," Madison replied. "Let's finish this movie, shall we?"

We nodded, and Nichole unpaused the movie.

"She doesn't even go here!"

We all laughed, and we watched the rest of the movie.

I love this girls.

It was the next day, and I just finished changing into a pair of tights and one of Brent's hoodies that he gave me. This one was a dark blue color with his number on the back, and it has two lacrosse sticks on the corner in the front.

"Are you ready to go?" Mom asked, walking into the room.

I nodded,"Yeah."

"The boys are at the house waiting for us to return. They are making breakfast," Mom said, making me laugh.

Which was a bad idea. My ribs throbbed again, and I winced in pain.

I ignored the pain and I said,"You left them alone in the kitchen with the oven?"

Mom laughed,"Don't worry. Dad is there helping them."

"Thank goodness," I said before walking over to Mom.

She wrapped an arm around my shoulders, and we walked to the elevator. We stepped into the elevator, and Mom pressed the button.

"Mom, can I see Brent before we go?" I asked her, quietly.

"Campbell, I know that you want to be by his side right now, but you need to come home and get some actually rest. We'll come back tomorrow, and see him," Mom replied, making me nod.

I looked down, upset. We walked out of the elevator, and we walked out of the hospital.

I took a breath of air when I walked out onto the sidewalk. The sun was shining, but it was still freezing.

Mom and I walked to the truck, and we got into it. I laid my head back after I buckled myself up.

Mom drove away from the hospital, and I looked outside my window. The drive to home was twenty minutes from the hospital.

When we made it home, we walked inside to see smoke coming from the kitchen. Mom and I looked at each before running, well she was running, to go see what happened.

The boys were running around as the toaster was on fire.

"Where is that freaking fire extinguisher?!" Gaberial yelled, opening every cabinet.

"Look under the sink!" Elliot yelled, frantically.

They haven't noticed that we were standing here watching them.

Mom opened the cabinet right beside us, and she brought out the fire extinguisher.

"Get down!" Mom yelled before spraying the fire.

Smoke alarms were going off, and I coughed from the smoke. Mom put out the fire before coughing.

"Open the windows and doors while I go turn off the alarms, and when I get back, you boys got some explaining to do," Mom said before walking out of the kitchen.

"Shit. Nick, you're dead," Gavin said, patting his brother on the back.

"It wasn't my fault. The toaster was the one who got jammed," Nick defended himself.

I left the kitchen, leaving the boys, and I walked into the living room to see Winter's bed in the corner with her toys.

I took a deep breath, trying my best not to cry. I headed upstairs to my bedroom.

On the way to my room, I ran into Dad. His eyes were wide with fear.

"You okay?" I asked him.

He nodded,"Yeah."

"You sure?"

"Your mother is going to kill me, and I'm trying to hide from her," Dad said, gulping.

I laughed,"Are you really that scared of Mom?"

Dad nodded,"You bet I am."

"Ross! Where are you?!" Mom yelled from downstairs.

"I gotta go. Pray for me," Dad said before walking downstairs.

I shook my head with a tiny smile on my face as I walked into my room. It was just how I left it. My bed was made, and I had my textbooks on my desk, open.

I walked over to my bookshelf, and I, softly, brushed over my books. I stopped when I saw The Notebook. Memories of Brent came rushing at me.

He picked up a book from his nightstand, and he handed to me. I took it, and I looked at the title.

The Notebook.

"You were saying the other day that you didn't have anything good to read. That book is amazing," he said, walking back over to me.

I looked at him, suspiciously,"You read this?" I raised the book up between us.

He nodded,"I did a month ago. I also watched the movie. Made me cry."

I licked my lips,"I have never watched the movie or read the book. Thank you."

"No problem. Maybe after you watch it, we can watch the movie together."

"That's a plan, Stan," I said.

I didn't even realize that I was crying until a tear fell from my face. I wiped them away, and I sniffled.

I shook my head before sitting on my bed. That's when I saw Mr. Sprinkles sitting on top of my pillows. Memories of the fair came rushing to me.

"Campbell, choose," Brent told me.

"Um....." I said, looking at the stuff animals."That panda." I pointed to a large stuff panda.

The man handed to me, and I felt the fur. It was so soft. I smiled, and Brent looked at me.

"What's his name?" Brent asked me.

"Mr. Sprinkles," I replied, making Brent laugh.

"Okay. Mr. Sprinkles it is. I kinda like it," Brent said, holding my hand.

I grabbed the stuffed panda, and I held it close to me. I laid on my pillow, thinking about Brent and Winter.

God, I miss them.

Somebody knocked on my open door, making me look over to see the boys standing at my door.

"Hey, Cam. Whatcha doing?" Micheal asked me, sitting at the end of my bed.

"Nothing," I replied, sitting up.

"Well since you're doing nothing. Why don't you come downstairs. We cooked a wonderful breakfast," Nick said, making everybody laugh.

"Why aren't you guys mad at me?" I asked them.

"Why would we be?" Elliot asked me.

"Because of me, you guys lost your dog and y'all best friend is in the hospital in a coma," I said, looking up at them.

"Campbell, it wasn't your fault. We're not mad at you, we promise," Nick said, making the guys agree.

I nodded,"Okay."

"Since that's all cleared up, why don't we go get some food," Gavin said.

"Sure," I said.

Elliot and Gavin helped me up, even with my protests, and we walked downstairs. The boys led me into the kitchen to see pancakes, bacon, eggs, and grits.

"There was going to be toast, but....you know," Elliot said, clearing his throat.

"Thank you guys," I said, turning back to face them.

"No problemo sis," Gavin said before we had a group hug.

"Come on, or it'll get cold," Mom said, breaking us apart.

Dad and Mom were sitting at the table, waiting for us. We sat down around the table. We talked and laughed. My mind was occupied about Brent, but I joined in the conversation.

I looked around the table, and I smiled to myself.

I love my family.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

I walked into Brent's hospital room to see nobody in the room except him. I sat in the chair beside him, and I grabbed a hold of his hand.

"Hey, Brent. I'm sorry I didn't come visit yesterday. I had to go home, but I'm here now," I started.

"The boys started a fire in the kitchen, and Mom almost killed them. You probably would have laughed your butt off if you were there," I told him, looking up at his face.

"I get to go back to school next week. The doctors just wanted me to take it easy this week, and I can't do any sport related activities until my ribs heal."

I talked to him for almost thirty minutes when machines started to go crazy. Nurses and doctors came running into the room.

"His heart rate is dropping," a nurse said, looking at the heart monitor.

"What's happening?" I asked, making a nurse come over to me.

"Get her out of here!" The doctor yelled, trying to hear Brent's heartbeat.

"Come with me, sweetie," the nurse said to me.

"What's going on? What's happening?" I asked her as she led me out of the room, forcefully.

"I need the paddles, now!" The doctor yelled, making me more worried.

"Dr. Ryan is going to do his best to save your friend, but you have to stay out here," the nurse told me, calmly.

"Clear!" The doctor yelled. "Charge to 200!"

I looked at the monitors to see them silent. My breathing stop.

No. No. No.

Then the monitors went back to normal. I sighed in relief, and I looked over to see the doctor taking out the tube.

What?

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion until I saw why. As the bed was sitting up right, I saw Brent awake.

He was coughing, and one of the nurses gave him a cup of water. He took a long sip of it before the coughing stopped.

I smiled at the sight of him awake.

Brent was awake.

I took a step forward, but the nurse stood in front of me.

"I'm sorry, dear, but you have to wait until the doctors says that it's fine for you to come in," the nurse said, making me nod.

I stood there for about ten minutes until the doctor came walking past me.

"You can go visit him now," the doctor told me, making my eyes lit up.

I walked into the room, and I hugged Brent. He hugged me back, but he didn't say anything. We broke apart, and I gently stroked his cheek with my thumb.

"I missed you so much," I said.

"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Brent asked me, making my heart drop.

I stared at him in shock until he started laughing at me. I'm so confused right now.

"Your face was priceless," Brent said, laughing.

"You remember me?" I asked him which made him stop laughing. He held my hand before smiling at me.

"Of course I remember my princess," Brent said, making my heart flutter.

Princess.

I hugged him tightly, and he kissed my cheek. Then I broke apart, and I punched him in the chest, softly.

"You scared me. I thought you didn't remember me. Jerk," I said, sitting on the bed.

"I couldn't never forget the love of my life," Brent replied, making me blush.

"I love you, Brent," I said as happy tears filled my eyes.

"I love you, too," Brent replied, pulling me closer to him.

I laid my head on his chest, and he wrapped an arm around my waist.

Love.

Love is powerful. It can make you do stupid stuff, but it can also be your weakness. But love saved me.

And I couldn't be more thankful.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Don't mind me crying a river over here.

First off, I want to say thank you guys for everything. It has been a long emotion rollercoaster. I love you guys so much.

This book has helped me through a lot of hard times.

Second off, there will be an epilogue. This is, however, the last chapter of Foster Brothers.

Insert crying emojis here —>

Third of all, there will be a sequel called Living as a Cade. It will be about Campbell and her senior year.
