*Jessica's P.O.V*

"There's the house," Max said, pointing to the end of the street.

The lane was shaped liked horseshoe, so the house seemed to be the head of the street. As he parked the car, I stared at it in awe.

Big black gates guarded the entrance. A black box, which looked like an intercom, was placed against the wall. Through the gates, I could clearly see the house.

"Ready?" Max asked, taking my hand.

I looked at him and smiled. "Ready."

He nodded and as I turned back to the house, I noticed the gates were opened, inviting us inside. Holding hands, we stepped inside. I looked around the foyer and my jaw dropped.

It was bright, filled with many windows and marble floors. I noticed a gardener picking flowers from the huge backyard through one of the windows. There were parts of the house that looked like it was made out of glass or something, because the sun hit a certain angle and a blurred rainbow showed on the floor.

"It's beautiful," I murmured.

"Yeah, but not more than you. Now come on, they’re expecting us," Max replied, and led me inside.

As we entered in the first room, we were greeted by a woman who I guessed was his mother. My eyes widened as I took in her looks. She was beautiful. Her brown wavy hair fell past her shoulders and her blue eyes shone brightly. She wore a white shirt and a pencil skirt.

"Hey, dear," she greeted with a wide smile.

She pulled me into a hug, placing her hand on my head.

"Hello, Aunty," I blushed.

"You can call me Macy." She smiled.

"Um, actually, we don't take the names of our elders and as..." I trailed off, when I noticed her smile fading.

She clapped her hands and grinned. "Wow, that's great. I’m going to learn many things from you." She then turned to Max and winked. "I already like her."

"Me too." Max smiled but I noticed his cheeks going red.

"C'mon, Macy, we want to meet her, too," someone shouted from behind her and Max groaned.

"Seriously, Mom? I thought it was a family dinner." Max rolled her eyes.

Macy shot an apologetic look in my direction and said, "I’m really sorry. They kept bugging me to meet you since they heard about you at our anniversary party. I wanted to tell you, but then Max wouldn't have brought you here."

"Mom, not cool. You know..."

I cut him off, "It's okay, Aunty. I would love to meet them." I smiled.

"Jessica, they are my crazy relatives." He shook his head.

"All relatives are crazy, Max, so what's the big deal? We can't avoid them forever, right? Let's face it, together," I suggested and he nodded, glancing at his mother who was watching us with amusement in her eyes.

"Mom, are we going to stand here? Or you are going to introduce her?" Max asked in a mocking tone.

"Of course, dear, come on." She stepped aside and led me inside the large hall which seemed to be a drawing room. It's walls were hung with fine grey canvas, it had a large, silvery grey, silky carpet, and the furniture was covered with dark green silky material.

As soon they saw us, their eyes took me in from head to toe, and I felt nervous. I was wearing a simple red sundress and a pearl necklace. Nina insisted that I wear 6 inch heels, but after a lot of fighting, we settled on 4 inch.

"So, this is Jessica. My girlfriend." Max cleared his throat to draw everyone's attention from me and I took a breath of relief.

"She is so beautiful."

"Yeah."

"She seems Indian."

"Indian girls are so pretty."

My cheeks flushed when they started whispering about me.

"You must be hungry. Come on, let's have a snack first," Max whispered in my ear and I beamed at him.

He took me to the kitchen which was professionally designed with well equipped utensils, but nothing superfluous, and offered me a seat near it.

"Thank God, you took me here." I sighed.

He chuckled. "I know, it was so embarrassing. I saw the look on your face."

I pouted. "Are you finding this amusing?"

"No, I find it sexy." He winked and I felt blood rushing to my cheeks.

"Whatever, can I have something to eat now? I'm starving," I replied, ignoring his heated gaze.

"Want pasta?" he asked and I nodded.

Later, we were seated in the poolside garden, laughing and smiling. They were telling me about Max’s childhood which was really entertaining. And the most interesting part was, Max wasn't embarrassed or groaning, but actually enjoying it. This was something new.

"Let's change the mood. Someone please start the music, I want to dance." I heard one of his aunts shouting and cheering at the same time. I guess she was bit tipsy.

"Don't mind her, they’re all crazy," Max whispered in my ear.

"And drunk, too," I added, giving him a challenging look.

He shrugged. "It's normal for them. You’ll get used to it."

"I don't think so." I scoffed.

"Well, I am sober which is the main and most important thing, right?" He grinned and lifted his eyebrow.

I smiled. "Right."

Our heads snapped out of our little moment when we heard them calling our name. "It's time for the couple of the evening, Max and Jessica, to dance."

The crowd cheered, making me groan. Max stood and smiled brightly, offering me his hand.

"Seriously?" I chuckled.

"Yeah, seriously." He winked.

I rolled my eyes, giving him my hand. "Don't try to take advantage of the situation."

"What do you mean?" He said in an innocent voice.

"Now we’re playing the innocent game?" I smirked.

He started leading me to the centre of the improvised dance floor and I followed him. Then, he turned and faced me, lifting one of my hands while he placed his other hand on my waist. I reluctantly laid my free hand on his shoulder.

My feelings started to jumble internally, from the fluttering butterflies in my stomach, to the goosebumps rising on my arms, to the heat radiating through my entire body, to my blushing cheeks, to my sweaty hands and forehead. Everyone's gaze was upon us.

"I'm as innocent as you are," he mumbled, and I could feel his hot breath on my face. "Are you alright?" he asked in a husky voice as we swayed to the soft music.

"Y . . . Yeah." I breathed out, trying to calm down.

He nodded and pulled me closer to him. Suddenly, I twisted on my feet and I felt a sharp pain in my ankle.

Perks of high heels!

"Anything wrong?" Max asked, noticing my discomfort.

I shook my head, ignoring the pain. Damn! It hurt so much, I couldn't dance like this.

"Step on my feet," he said.

"What? But . . ." I wanted to ask, but he cut me off.

"Just do it."

I nodded as I felt his chest rise and fall and his breath across my face. Inhaling his mint scent, I clinged to him tighter and closed my eyes.

The soft melody sweeped us in the air, like we were floating. I didn’t believe in fairy tales, but this felt like a fantasy, our dance on rose petals and under the moonlight. I could hear his rapidly beating heart.

I almost forgot that we were in public when his lips brushed mine. I just wanted to taste him.

"Jazz."

I opened my eyes, realising the music was gone. I could practically  feel everyone's observing eyes.

I let out a shaky breath, but he wrapped his arms tighter around me. The electricity between us hummed quietly. He pressed his lips to mine and I placed my hands on his cheeks, kissing him back with just as much need. He trailed his lips slowly to my neck, sucking on my sweet spot, and I moaned.

I took a step back and groaned loudly, as the pain in my ankle returned. He shook his head and picked me up in a bridal style. He waved at others, signalling that we were going inside.

"You're amazing, did you know that?" I asked smiling as he started walking towards the house.

"Only because I have an amazing woman by my side, " he murmured in my hair. "God, you've changed me so much."

"How?" I chuckled as he opened the door of his room. The room gives away his bachelorhood. The floor was polished concrete, the walls black and white, and the furniture surely was from a famous designer. My eyes landed on the side wall of the bed where I spotted pictures of his childhood. Deceased most likely, given the careful placement of white candles. Around it were smaller pictures of Cole and Max, birthday parties and the likes. They looked so happy in those pictures, and it made me wonder if they were ever going to sorting out their issues or not.

"All I ever did was screw practically any girl before you came into my life. You changed my life, Jazz, and I’m glad you did. Thank you so much." His voice snapped me out from my own world and made me realise that I was still in his arms. I punched his shoulder and told him to put me down.

He kissed my forehead, and putting me on the bed, sat on his knees. His intense gaze bored into mine and I swallowed the large lump in my throat.

How could it be that I hadn't seen Max’s true love?

Pure, unselfish, and undemanding!

A love like this was to be cherished for life. I smiled and thanked God for sending me to this foreign country.

Finally, everything started making sense.

Now, I should tell him.

"Max?" I said slowly.

"Hmm?" he mumbled, resting his forehead against mine.

"I love you," I confessed, gulping down nervously.

He lifted his face and I could see the shock in his eyes. His jaw dropped. "What?"

"You don't have to say it back or anything. It was the moment, I lost control, but it doesn't mean . . ."

He stopped my blabbering, smacking his mouth on mine. The kiss was different from our previous kisses. I could sense the happiness in it.

He broke the kiss and smiled. "I love you, too."

"Really?" I asked, surprised.

"Of course, you idiot. I thought you would never say those words." He kissed my hands.

"I was just afraid." I shrugged. "But not anymore. I want you, Max." I smiled and gave him a peck on the lips.

"I'm glad, because I’m not going to let you go, ever."

He winked and pulled out a small velvet box from his pocket, making me gasp.

"Since I’m already on my knees, I just want to remind you that it's not a marriage proposal, so you can relax," he said and smirked. "But it's a promise that I, Max Hasington, promise to love you, always. I will never let you down, will never break your trust, will always care for you. I just want one thing in return, though." He stopped and looked at me, hopefully.

I nodded and smiled as tears started forming up in my eyes.

"Never give up on me. We will make it to forever," he finished, his voice cracking up.

I felt tears rolling down my cheeks, but this time, they were happy tears.

"We will, Max. We wilI," I whispered and hugged him tightly.

He nodded and pulled away to show me the beautiful diamond ring with the initials 'J&M' on it. I looked at him through my tears and smiled. "It's lovely."

"May I?" he asked and I gladly put my palm in his hand. "Now, it's beautiful," Max said softly, glancing at my ring finger with the ring on it.

"Are we engaged now?" I teased him.

“No, I've just marked you,” he winked

What?

“As werewolves do?” I lifted my eyebrow, but before he could say anything, someone opened the door.

"Oh, my God!" I heard shouting and we both turned towards the door to find the source of it.

One of his cousins named Hayden, wearing a red summer dress, which complemented her golden straight hair and curvy figure, stood there with wide eyes. She must’ve witnessed our little secret marking ceremony. Well, technically whatever she saw could be named as proposal so, her reaction was understandable.

"Hayden, listen," Max tried to explain, but she was already out the door.

He ran his fingers through his hair and turned towards me. "I wanted to tell them later, but like you said earlier, let's face it together." He smiled, offering me his hand.

"Lets face it." I smiled, taking his hand.

"We will convince your parents, too," he said.

"Yeah, I will come clean to them," I replied.

"What?" He raised his eyebrows.

"That . . ." I leaned closer.

"Hm?" He mumbled, looking at my lips.

"A foreign boy took my heart," I whispered in his ear, biting on it.
