1 YEAR LATER

"Ooh, I got another one," I commented, chewing on my grape quickly so I could get my words out. "No fighting in front of her. If we have a problem we solve it while she's not home."

"Sweetheart, when do we ever fight?" Tobias rested his hands around my waist and I smiled as I felt his lips touch my neck.

In a way, his words were true. Ever since Olivia has been born we haven't fought. Sure, we might've fought over what we wanted for dinner or who was going to take out the trash tonight, but what normal couple didn't?

Pretty pink balloons and streamers were hung all over our new home, in Long Island. Our home was beautiful, quite large for just the three of us, but that's okay because I was hoping to get pregnant soon again. So far it hasn't been working out, but I wasn't about to get up. A small blush crept up on my face. Tobias wasn't ready to give up either, in fact, he's been trying to get me into the bedroom all day. But I couldn't today. Today was all about our little girl, who just turned one.

"Stop!" I squealed, pushing his head away from my neck. "The guest will be here any minute!"

"They could wait outside for a couple of minutes...or hours," he husky voice said. I felt his teeth nibble my ear and I shuddered from the intimate feeling.

"Tobias!" I hissed, fully stepping away from his body now. I could see him half smiling and half smirking as I began squirming around. "Make yourself productive and get the birthday girl."

Tobias rolled his eyes as he popped a grape in his mouth. "Do you really think I'm going to be able to get Noel away from her?"

I chuckled. "Well, that's Noel's problem. She needs to have her own baby and stop stealing mine!"

"Hey! I heard that!" Noel shouted from the living room.

"You were supposed to!" I shouted back, smiling.

Life was definitely looking up for not just me, but for everybody else around me. Julian, for starters, completed his residency training and he was now a doctor at Lakeshore Hospital. Scott graduated at the top of his culinary class. Though his family was still dissatisfied with his choice to not go in the medical or law field, they were quite impressed with him. Noel on the hand had trouble finding work, but she babysat Olivia while I Tobias and I were at work.

Where I was working now wasn't ideal; it was a small family own practice where I shadow a psychiatrist. One day I hope to go back to school and get my graduate degree. Tobias, however, was prohibited from fighting until they completed conclusive testings. Boxing was in his blood, though, so instead he became a trainer at a gym not far from home. We both weren't doing what we loved, but it was worth it every time we saw our baby girl.

"Dada!" Olivia exclaimed, her chunky legs wobbling as she walked to him.

The smile on Tobias's face lit up the whole room. Olivia was definitely a daddy's girl. Her first words were dada and she has yet to say mama. Tobias would assure me that she would say my name soon, but I knew he was secretly thrilled she hasn't. Olivia might be a daddy's girl, but he was definitely a bigger sucker for her.

"Livy!" Tobias exclaimed back, opening his arms for her to come into.

She just learned how to walk, resulting in her falling every now and then, but it looked like she might reach Tobias in one walk today. I could see Noel smiling from the doorway.

Rachel's sacrifice for our family has never been forgotten. We visit her grave every month or so, bringing in a new case of flowers. Additionally, we named Olivia after her. Her full name was Olivia Rachel Sorensen. I wanted to her to have Rachel as her first name, but I could see Tobias was uncomfortable with that. The look on his face showed how guilty he felt. He reads the letter she left him every night, alone, and sometimes I could hear him cry. He claims he's dealing with it, but I know it still pains him every day.

"That's my baby girl," he cooed, as she finally reached his arms.

He swung her around and her soft giggles echoed our kitchen. Her chubby fingers played in Tobias's scruff and he pretended to bite her fingers, making her giggle even harder.

"Olivia is the best thing that ever happened to him," I heard Noel speak from behind me.

I looked over my shoulder and I could see a longing look on her face. She wanted a family on her own, but she wanted to wait until she got a job first. I nodded, agreeing with her.

"She's the best thing that happened to us both."

The front door bell broke me out of my stare and I shrieked. I didn't even finish plating the food! I was so busy fixing the decorations I forgot about the most important part.

"Don't worry, I got this," Noel said, reading my mind.

I gave her a thankful smile before running to the front door. I saw Jamie and Will hand in hand with a big pink box and a slightly smaller pink happy birthday bag. My suspicious about them being together was no longer a suspicion. Will's pale face was slightly pink and flushed while Jamie looked refreshed and wide awake.

"Congrats on being a mommy for one year!" Jamie exclaimed, pulling me into a hug. I chuckled at her enthusiasm and hugged her back.

"Thanks, Jamie. And thank you Will. I appreciate you both coming to celebrate Olivia's birthday with us," I told them both.

Soon guest were arriving like flees. Soft music was coming from our wireless speakers around the house. Our fireplace was crackling in the living room where our friends were laughing and chatting away. I sipped my wine as I saw Olivia run to Julian. Julian smiled as he spun her around. Her face and hands were covered in cake and frosting. I chuckled at the sight of her; she looked like a cake monster.

"I still can't believe it's been a year since she's been born," Tobias said, taking the glass of wine out of my hands. He placed it on a coaster and I frowned his actions.

"Hey," I complained. "I haven't drunk wine in months."

My voice was cut off by Tobias smushing me into his chest. I felt my cheeks get warm from his sudden affection. I didn't bother to push him away; I loved being in his arms more than anything.

"Have I ever told you how much I love you?" He spoke, slightly releasing me so that I could look up. His full attention was on me. His eyes never left mine as one of his hands left soft patterns on my back.

I pretended to think about his question, scrunching my face up in confusion. "No, I don't think you ever had."

"Well," he began, a small smile tugging on his lips. "I love you more than life itself. I love how passionate you are about everything you do. I love how you never gave up on this family. I love how you made me become a daddy. I was just passing through life blindly before I met you. But then my whole life changed."

His eyes darted away from mine briefly and I knew he was looking at Olivia. "You gave my life purpose and I would never be able to repay you for that."

"Tobias," I softly said, freeing one of my hands so that I could caress his cheek. "I could sense something alarming in your eyes, but I promise you I'm not going anywhere and neither is Olivia. We're a family now. Nothing is going to tear us apart."

"Promise you'll never leave?" He asked, his face dropping a little.

My heart fluttered at how vulnerable he looked. I gently brought his head down and connected my lips on top of his. His hold on my waist tightened and I had to pull away before it got too intimate in front of everyone. Tobias eyes shined brightly as I stared into them.

"I promise."
