"You can't hide from me any longer! I found you now!" Tobias's dad exclaimed, releasing a nasty laughter.

Tobias tightened his grip on my arm, almost cutting off my blood flow by how tight it was, as he lead me down some shady alley. I didn't bother to ask him where we were going. I wanted to get away from his father as fast as I could too. The stories I heard about him made me angry. I wanted him to suffer. Hearing what Tobias went through and how he was still continuing to push through his life continued to amaze me. I looked up at him and I could see his face resembling a stone, hard and stiff. I could see no movement, not even his usual clenching of his jaw when he was angry. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest. This was bad, really bad.

"Tobias," I softly said.

He looked down at me, his eyes distant. For a second I could see the Tobias I fell in love with by the way he was looking me; full of curiosity and love. But it quickly went away as he snapped his eyes up, picking up his pace. Was this some shortcut to his car?

"You can't keep dodging me son," Tobias's dad yelled, his voice becoming more clearer.

I turned my head, wondering how I could hear it so clearly. This was a mistake. I saw him just inches a away from me, his face displaying one emotion: anger. I screamed as I felt myself being ripped away from Tobias's arms and snatched into his fathers. Tobias stopped walking at once and I could see I swear I saw flames flash through his eyes.

"Ah, so the only way I could get your attention is by taking your little girlfriend," he chuckled, his filthy, meaty face blubbering. "This will be fun."

"Let her go," I heard him say calmly. I wanted to scream. Of all the times he was angry he chose now to remain calm? I fought to get out of his grasp to only feel a rough slap against my cheek.

"Hey!" Tobias growled, stepping in front of him. "Don't fucking touch her! I will kill you if you hurt her."

I expected to hear a dry laugh come from his father, but instead I felt my arm be released from his grasp.

"It isn't so nice, is it? Knowing that the one you love got hurt?" Tobias's father seethed, spitting in Tobias's face. "Only mines died. I think that's a pretty fair price to repay."

I felt him turn around to come after me until Tobias stepped in front of him. "It wasn't my fault she died! You guys are both fucking crackheads-"

I saw Tobias's father punch Tobias across his cheek, making me wince. Tobias held onto his sore check. He spat on the fresh plush of snow. It was no longer white and pure, instead I saw a little pool of blood and silva stain the clean snow. He looked back up at his father, but he was no longer looking at him without anger. Instead, I saw something flash through his eyes I never seen before; fear.

He hung his head low in front of his father as if he was a little boy again being scolded for not washing the dishes fast enough. My heart ached to console him, to bring him back to reality, something. Instead I stood back, too scared to move, and watched as father and son interact many years later

"It was your fault she died," Tobias's father growled, his meaty face red as he began to talk in Tobias's face. "Say it!"

Tobias mumbled something underneath his breath and his father struck his face again. "Speak up when I'm talking to you!"

"It was my fault," he said louder, his voice cracking as he looked up at his. His eyes were clouded as he stared at his monster of a father.

"You're right it was!" Tobias's father yelled. "And you're going to pay for it. Pay for all those drugs of mines you destroyed, for being a fucking idiot, and for killing my wife! I never wanted you and instead I was left taking care of you. The best thing that ever happened was you leaving! But you made a name after yourself, huh?"

I could faintly see his father reach into his pocket and pull out a small baggy containing a needle that looked like it had some type of liquid drug in it.

"Tobias Sorensen, the undefeatable boxer," his father spoke, laughing as he said it. "Wait till they find out he's on drugs. Your career will be over. Then I'll take your black bitch and you'll have nothing left."

I felt like telling him off but instead I bit my tongue, knowing if I said something it would only make things worse. The only thing I could think of was Tobias's having to take those drugs involuntarily. He couldn't. It could affect his heart and it was already weak enough. I prayed that Tobias would have another panic attack. At least this would buy us some time and his father was probably too dumb to know what was going on.

"What's wrong?" Tobias's father said, holding out the needle for him. "You used to love this stuff when you were a child."

"I haven't touched that in years," he replied, looking down.

I was surprised to see the kind of effect he has on Tobias. It was like he was a whole different person, no longer the confident and strong Tobias I knew. What surprised me even more was the fact that he took drugs in the first place, voluntarily.

"You know you miss it," his father daunted, waving it around. "Come on. Just once, for old times sake."

Tobias looked at the needle at interest. I could feel the hair on the back of neck stick up. How could even think of doing drugs? Doesn't he know how bad they are for you? He was a boxer and he knew first hand how they could mess up your life, thanks to his father. Tobias took the needle from his father's hand and I closed my eyes, disappointed in him. I never knew how much of a hold his father had on him, how he was practically under his control.

I heard a deep shout and I opened my eyes at once. Tobias was kneeling on the cold, snowy floor, with his father leaning over him. I could see his father kick his stomach, causing Tobias to yelp out in pain. My heart quicker as his father bit the top of the needle, before ripping Tobias's jacket up.

I couldn't watch this any longer. I ran after his father, planning to smack the needle out of his hand. However, his father turned around at the same time and just smiled at me, causing my skin to crawl as a result.

"Don't worry baby. You're next."

As I reached out to snatch the needle he slammed into Tobias's popping vein. He growled, throwing his head back as the drug surged through his body. I cried out loud, sinking to my knees as Tobias screamed out in intense pain. I could see tears flow from his eyes and I wondered how bad he was in pain right now. I never experienced anything with drugs, but I knew the moment you were clean and you relapse it was really bad.

"You're a monster!" I shouted at his father.

The tears on my face were the only warm thing on my body. I was freezing and it wasn't only from the weather. Seeing Tobias so hurt, so fragile, numbed me. I couldn't feel anything because he was feeling everything.

I felt myself being lifted up from the floor and I tried to get out of his hold. For a small girl like me this was extremely hard. I managed to slap him across the face, earning me a second to escape, but he was quicker and I was a prisoner once again.

"Get off of me! I will kill you!" I declared, still trying to get free. I felt the back of his hand slap my face and I could've sworn I tasted blood.

"Any last words you want to say to your little boyfriend?" He spat, humor glistening through his eyes.

I felt him reach into his pocket, using his free hand until he grabbed another needle. I glanced at Tobias on the ground, his pupils dilated and his jaw clenched as if he was trying to hold in the pain. Tears ran down my face as I saw the guy I love suffer and there was nothing I could do about it. Tobias's father bit the top of the needle, pulling the cap off, before glaring at his son.

"You're about to see how I felt. You're going to witness the one you love die, only your girl will die quickly but painfully."

My heart hammered in my chest as I saw his hand move my hair back, gaining him access to my neck. Maybe I deserved this. Maybe this was my punishment for putting the ones I loved through so much torment. But I didn't want to die. Not when I finally realized I loved Tobias unconditionally and not when I found out that I was carrying his child. I couldn't do that to my unborn child.

As his father reached down to inject the needle into my pulsing vein I yelled out "stop! I'm pregnant!"

Everything seemed to stop. It was as if time has frozen all of us. Tobias's father stopped moving his hand, the needle inches away from my neck. Tobias's eyes were bright and some sense of life was restored back in him. Though he still looked in pain, he sat up very slowly, with his eyes fixated on me.

"What?" He choked, trying to stand up now. He was too weak. His attempts were useless.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and glanced at his father who was looking down in confusion. I hoped that my confession would've changed his mind but as he glanced up at me I knew I had only made things worse.

"Even better."

I pushed his chest quickly, catching him off guard. The element of surprise managed to knock the needle out of his hand. He looked down in anger before wrapping his meaty hands around my throat.

"You want it the hard way? You got it," he spat, his hands tightening around my neck as a result.

I struggled to breathe, my eyes widening as if that could help. In the corner of my eye, I saw Tobias scream out loud, pounding the concrete as he tried to get up. My eyes began to water as I saw his father smile.

This was it. I was going to die out here. I've hardly even started living. I didn't even finish undergrad and I would die with a little fetus in my belly.

Just as I started to black out, I felt my lungs begin to work as Tobias's father let go of my neck. I coughed a couple of times before I got a view of what was happening. Tobias tackled his father and he was sitting on top of him, his fist hitting his face repeatedly. His father tried to sneak a punch in, but Tobias was too quick. He dodged his punches, resulting in his father swinging in the air.

"You fucking ruined me!" I heard him cry as he continued to punch him.

I saw blood on his knuckles and I moved around so that I could get a good view of his father. His eyes were blinking repeatedly as he tried to stay conscious. His hands were spread out on either side of him and his face was unrecognizable due to all the blood.

I had to stop this. Tobias was seconds away from killing him. I grabbed ahold of his fist as he was about to throw another punch. Tobias snapped his head at me before his body posture became limp.

"Reign, I need to finish this," he growled, staring down at his father. He looked groggy as he stared off in the distance.

"You're going to get arrested!" I cried, trying to get his other hand. Instead he shook my hold on his left hand, leaving me alone.

"I don't care. He deserves to fucking die!"

"I know," I whispered, tears falling down my face as I saw the scared little boy flash through his face. "But I need you. I need you right now."

Tobias snapped his eyes up at me before glancing at my stomach. His eyes wandered back at my eyes like he was asking if it was true. The expression on my face said it all and I could see his face turn stone cold.

I turned around and called the police, briefly describing them where we were and that we found a homeless man who had illegal drugs on him and he was beaten half to death. I hung up the phone quickly before grabbing ahold of Tobias's shoulder. He fought with me to stay and finish the task he started, but his body didn't allow it.

He was too exhausted and whatever the drugs his father gave him was making it worse. As I wrapped his arm around my shoulder and practically drag him out of the alley and onto the main road, I saw his car right there. As I went to unlock it Tobias collapsed on the floor, his body shaking as began to have a seizure.

I cried out of help, dropping to me knees to help him. People gasped around me while other took out their phone to record. I grabbed my own phone shakily and hit a familiar number.

"Julian!" I sniveled, tears falling down my face as I tried to hold Tobias down, my phone in between my ear and shoulder. "Julian, Tobias is hurt and I need your help."

I don't like this chapter at all. It wasn't how I expected it to go. However, I'm doing to leave it until I edit my book or I might change it tomorrow. Who knows.

Please, comment/vote. I've had a shitty week and I could use a picker upper. (By reading your lovely comments)
