"Happy Valentine's Day, baby."

I felt Tobias's stubble tickle my cheek as he began to leave small kisses around my ear. Once he reached my neck I felt my body begin to squirm from his touch. I tossed around in bed and saw him grinning at me. He looked young and happy. Oh, boy, did he look good and he was all mine.

He looked like he just woke up; his hair was ruffled messily and his eyes were a bit puffy, adding emphasis on his scars. On top of that his voice sounded huskier than normal, turning me on. It was something about a guy's sleepy voice that always seemed to make my heart go into a frenzy. I smiled up at him as I grabbed his face. Slowly, Tobias knelt down to me and I kissed him long and slow, enjoying his lips on mines.

I didn't see much of him and that was mainly my fault. School started up again. I was busy trying to get all the remaining credits I needed in order to graduate. I didn't want to be like other people who prolonged in getting their degree.

"I missed you," he said, pulling back. "What time did you get home last night?"

I pushed myself up, propping my back against the back of the bedrest. We finally got Tobias's bed into my apartment, very difficulty, and I was more than thrilled. I secretly always loved his bed. It was just so spacious and comfortable.

"Around midnight. My class didn't end until 10:30, but I then I started studying and by the time I needed to get home it was almost 11:40. Thank you for letting me take your car, by the way," I gushed.

Tobias smiled cheekily and shrugged. "No need to thank me."

I rubbed my eyes together, still feeling groggy. I pulled my comforters off of my body and jumped off the bed, but I felt something soft and oddly soothing touch my feet. I glance down and see a pathway of roses scattered across my apartment. I turned my head back to Tobias and saw him just looking at me shyly.

"What's this?" I asked, trying to hide my surprisement, which I failed to do.

"Just follow it," he said, nudging his head out my room. My door was still disabled and was laying limply on the floor. I kept forgetting to tell Tobias to fix it.

I began to follow the pathway of roses. I could smell the fragrance of roses around me. It was hard not to; they were everywhere! I heard Tobias walk closely behind me and my heart started beating quickly as a result. I wasn't the best at surprises... In fact, I hated them. But I loved this surprise.

In my living room, I saw a big wooden crib with plush cream bedding. A small gasp escaped my lips as I stepped closer. We hadn't even begun to talk about the baby's furniture or anything about him or her be honest. It was always on our mind, though, but we never knew how to talk about it because once we did we started thinking about our future we knew we wouldn't have.

"Tobias," I gasped, tears glistening in my eyes. "When did you... How...?"

I couldn't even get my words out. I was in awe. This was coming from a guy who never even talked about having a family and now here he was buying furniture for them. I walked closer to the crib and saw a little teddy bear placed in the corner.

"It was pretty easy actually. You haven't been home, making it easier to hide. I assembled it yesterday actually. It's been in our living room all night," he said, scratching his head.

I almost melted at the sight of how adorable he seemed. Instead, in two long strides I made my way towards him and pulled his shirt down. He looked at me alarmed, but his eyes quickly softened at the sight of me.

"I love you," I simply said, my heart beating quickly. My eyes scanned down to his lips and I saw him do the same. I tried to kiss him, but he pulled back, and I saw a little teasing grin come across his face.

I chased his lips, wanting nothing but his mouth to touch mines. Every time I came closer, he nudged me away with his nose. The edges of his mouth turned upwards in a smile as he teased me. For a brief moment our eyes locked, the mood suddenly intensifying. He held my jaw tenderly, his thumb gently stroking my cheek every so often. I took my chance and quickly leaned my head forward and locked my lips with his. I could hear Tobias chuckle a little bit at my enthusiastic behavior and I could help but smile back. I felt a little jolt in my stomach and I pulled back at once.

"Woah," I exclaimed, placing my hands around my belly.

"What?" Tobias asked, his face filled with concern. "Are you alright? Is the baby alright?"

I couldn't answer him. My thoughts were focused on one thing and one thing only. Did I just feel my baby kick?

"Reign," Tobias said harshly. He raised my head up by moving my chin. "What's wrong?"

I opened my mouth to tell him what was wrong, but I felt the same jolt in my stomach. I gasped, the feeling returning again. I grabbed Tobias's hands and placed them on my stomach. He looked exhausted and eager to know what was wrong with me, but I couldn't explain it. It was better to just let him experience it with me.

"Reign," he repeated. "Sweetheart, please tell me-"

He stopped talking when he felt our baby kick once again. His eyes widened as he stared at my stomach. He snapped his eyes back up at me, his hazel eyes shining brightly, something that only happens when he's excited or angry. I was hoping it was the first.

"Was that-"

"Uh uh."

"And did he just-"

"He?" I repeated, giggling a little. "What makes you so sure it's a boy?"

Tobias grinned, his hand never leaving my stomach. "It's a boy. I'm sure of it. Just look at the he's kicking inside of you."

"And what if it's a girl?" I challenged, pushing his hands away from my belly. "What if she's as feisty as her mother and has a temper of her father?"

"She definitely as feisty her mother," he replied, stepping closer to me. He held onto my cheek tenderly. "Exactly why I love her."

My heart fluttered at his words. I wasn't the only one who was feeling all giddy. Our unborn child was kicking eagerly, feeling the words of their daddy.

"And I will continue loving you," he said, his eyes never leaving mines. He crouched down on his knees and held onto my stomach. "And you. I haven't even met you yet and I love you unconditionally."

I tear slid down my face. Tobias looked up at my face and his lips turned downward as a result. He tried to reach down and console me, but I moved away.

"Reign, I'm sorry."

"You know how I feel every time you talk like that," I sniffled, pulling the sleeves of my sweaters down.

Tobias sighed. "I know, I didn't mean to. When I start thinking about our child I can't help but say things like that."

"You talk like you've already given up. How's that supposed to make me feel?" I questioned, folding my arms. Tears were still falling down my eyes, but I didn't bother to wipe them away.

Tobias shook his head. "I haven't given up. Not on you and not on our baby."

I ran a hand through my face wearily. "I have no idea what we're doing Tobias. We're acting like everything is going to be okay when in less than a month you may or may not be here. And then what?"

"Then nothing because I will still be here," Tobias growled, stepping in front of me. This time, I didn't move away. "I promise you I'm not going anywhere."

"Don't make promises you can't keep," I whispered, one last tear falling down my face.

Tobias pulled me into his arms. I immediately felt myself begin to relax by just being in his hold.

"I promise. I'm here to say," he whispered. I felt his lips leave a small kiss on my head. "Now come on. We have reservations."

I pulled back and wiped my eyes with the sleeve of my sweater. "Reservations? Where?"

Tobias grinned cheekily as he grabbed my hand. "You'll just have to wait and see."

~*~

"Tobias, it's okay. I'm cold and tired. I much rather be home snuggled up with you."

"No," he replied, gritting his teeth.

He took off his jacket and placed it around my shoulders, leaving him with a plain white button up. I was already wearing my wool coat, but I couldn't stop shivering. We've been waiting for over twenty minutes to get inside a fancy French Restaurant. They told us even though he had reservations we had to wait. It was Valentine's Day after all; the busyness was expected.

"I made reservations dammit. They can't keep making me wait out here!" He yelled, a vein in his neck starting to pop.

He was about to charge into the restaurant, but I grabbed his forearm before he could enter. He glared at me harshly before softening his gaze.

"What are we doing here? This isn't our scene at all," I consoled, keeping my voice light. I could see his temper was only increasing by the minute.

"It's Valentine's Day. You should be able to eat at somewhere nice for once," he explained. I could see his jaw clench as a couple went inside the restaurant excitedly.

"Hey, look at me," I told him, moving his face towards me.

His eyes looked down at me angrily, but he did look in my eyes. I softly stroked his cheek, and this time his eyes met mines.

"I don't need to be showered with gifts or be taken to a fancy restaurant. I don't even need to leave the house."

I sighed and moved my hands away from his face. I wrapped them around his waist in pulled him in.

"Tobias, you already made the happiest girl alive. You filled the darkness in my soul with light, the sort of light that I've been searching for everywhere. You already gave me the biggest gift; you allowed me to carry your baby. So come on, let's go home and let's just enjoy each other's company. That's all I want. That's all I ever wanted."

"Fuck, I'm so in love with you."

A small smile came over my face as he bent down to give me a small peck on my lips. It was short and sweet, just like our relationship. However, what I wasn't expecting was for some idiot to run our moment by swerving onto the curb, knocking both Tobias and I. It felt like I was flying before I felt my back hit something hard. I experienced some excruciating pain before everything went black.

I don't even know what to say for the author's note lol. You guys probably hate me. Anyways, tell me your thoughts!
