Two weeks have passed and I haven't seen Tobias. On one hand I was happy; my life was getting back to normal. I went to my classes and worked my ass off as I have been for the last three years. On the other hand I felt empty, an adjective I would never use to describe myself. If I allowed Tobias to be in my life any longer I would've grown attached to him and that scared me.

I think apart of me knew why I picked on every date that I went out with. I didn't believe in relationships. Sure, there are some examples of successful relationships and Noel and Scott are one of them. But divorce rates are at an all-time high and they're only going to increase. I don't want to marry someone to only divorce them a couple of years later. What's the point in that?

I was at Noel and Scott's house. They were having a Halloween party. They invited fifteen of their close friends each, which was a little bit too much for their apartment. Noel was dressed up as Sandy from Grease, thanks to my help, and was glued next to Scott. She was flashing her ring off to all her friends proudly. While she was doing that Scott was looking at her intensely, full of love and happiness. I could tell they're going to be together for a long time.

Sighing, I got up and went to the kitchen. I looked under all their cabinets before finding Cabernet Sauvignon, my favorite type of wine. I kept a bottle here since I come here often. I poured myself a bit in a glass and returned the bottle in its rightful place. I went into Noel and Scott's bedroom and opened the balcony doors. I breathed in the cold air, enjoying the coolness. I took a sip of my wine, enjoying the familiar taste.

"Nurse Ratchett huh?" I heard a voice speak behind me. I saw Scott come out in his Danny costume from Grease.

I smile softly and take another sip of my red wine. "Yeah, you know how obsessed I am with that movie. Why aren't you inside?"

Scott sighed and leaned against the railing. You had a pretty good view of the city from up here, not the best but pretty close.

"I had to get away from all the congratulations and finally. It's too overwhelming," he said, shaking his head. "And did you know she wants to have the wedding during Christmas? How are we going to have everything done by then?"

"Well, there's something called a wedding planner. They're pretty good at their jobs you know."

Scott sighed again and sat down in one of the patio chairs. "I wanted a small wedding, preferably a destination wedding, just something we would both remember."

"It's your wedding. It would be memorable either way but if you really want to do that I suggest you talk to her about it."

I've known Noel and Scott for a long time now, but I've known Noel longer. She always wanted a wedding during Christmas time, just like her parents. They died before Scott could ever meet them so I knew she wanted this very badly.

"Hey! What are you guys doing out here?" Noel's bubbly voice spoke. She had a bright smile plastered on her face and I never seen her happier.

"Just taking a breather," Scott replied. He got up and gave her a kiss on the cheek before walking back inside. Her smile lingered for a moment but flattened when she saw my expression.

"Reign, what's wrong?" She asked, coming next to me. She put her hand on my shoulder, trying to comfort me but it only made me want to remove her hand.

"Nothing's wrong," I told her while smiling.

"Cut the bullshit, you've been a ghost the last few weeks. I didn't say anything because I know how you are, you don't really like talking about your feelings, but I still need to know how my best friend is doing."

I sighed and removed her hand off of my shoulder. "I'm seriously fine Noel. Just tired with school. You of all people should know how that is."

She nodded in agreement. "If I knew becoming an architect was this hard I wouldn't have thought about becoming one."

I gave her a sad understand smile, and pulled her in for a hug. "I'm going to go home now. But have fun tonight and flash that ring off, girl!"

She giggled and pulled away. She wiggled her fingers and admired it again. "I can't believe you and Scott went behind my back and surprised me. I would be angry with you, but I'm still on a high. I can't believe I finally get to call him my fiancé! And soon my husband!"

"You are one lucky girl Noel Cole."

In the back of my head, I was thinking of how jealous I was of her but I quickly pushed those thoughts away. If anyone deserved to have a happy ever after it was Noel. She has a good heart and had so many terrible things happen in her life, she needed something good to come out of it. I'm just glad she finally has.

After saying my goodbyes to Noel and tracking Scott down to do the same, I exited their Manhattan apartment and headed to my own Brooklyn one. On average it took about a half an hour but with traffic it could become an hour. I never had the honor of getting my driving lessons and as a result I was always stuck in a dirty mustard taxi that has been worn out due to many years of service.

My stomach grumbled as I set my apartment keys on my kitchen counter. I rummaged through my fridge to find nothing flattering; some milk and fruits weren't going to fill me up. Of course, I would be the one to wait last minute to do grocery shopping.

I went back outside and waited for another taxi to arrive. After about five minutes I managed to get another driver, only this one was very into Halloween.

"Happy Halloween!" A middle-aged man with salt and pepper hair exclaimed. He painted white all over his face and painted red around his lips. His resemblance to the joker was scarily similar.

"Umm, Happy Halloween," I replied weakly. "Can you take to to Stop and Shop, please?"

"Coming right up!"

His bubbly personality didn't match his costume, which eased me. I relaxed in the back seat and stared out my window. I shivered a bit and I realized I left the house in my costume without a jacket. I gritted my teeth at my idiocy.

Five minutes later we were at the grocery store and I asked him to keep the meteor running while I quickly ran inside. I wasn't going to do heavy shopping; I usually saved that for the weekend. I grabbed a basket and went to the produce aisle. I was in the mood for Chinese tonight. I grabbed all the necessary ingredients; cabbage, onion, peas, carrots, and eggs. I already had rice at home and all that was left was chicken. I raked my eyes through the different chickens and went to grab one before I saw someone else grab it.

"Hey! I was just about to grab that!" I complained.

I looked at the asshole that grabbed it and saw a guy with smooth dark skin with black stubble around his jaw. My eyes wandered to his outfit and noticed he was dressed in scrubs. What a creative outfit.

"Just grab the next one," he retorted while walking away. I looked down and realized he took the last one. I stomped my way in front of him and saw the annoyance in his face as he looked down at me.

"This," I said, grabbing the chicken package out of his hands, "belongs to me."

"Excuse me?" He said amused. He took his headphone out and tried to take it away from me, but I held it back.

"You gotta be quicker than that," I joked, stealing the State Farm commercial saying. I could see a small grin appear on his face as I left him.

I went in line and began putting my stuff on the belt. I saw the guy in scrubs in the aisle next me. His back was to me and I had a moment to admire his physique. He was strong; his arms were heavily built but slim at the same time. I also noticed he was extremely tall, probably 6'3. He towers over my small 5'3 frame.

"That'll be $24.50 ma'am," the cashier spoke, interrupting me from my thoughts. I pulled out my wallet and handed him twenty-five and told him to keep the change. I grabbed all my bags and managed to drop my wallet.

"Damn it," I hissed. I would have to put all my grocery bags down just to pick it up. Just as I was about to reach for it I saw some hands pick it up for me. My eyes looked up and I saw it was the same guy who tried to steal my chicken.

"Here you go, Nurse Ratchett," he said smirking. I was surprised he knew whom I was going for. Scott knew mainly because I always watched that movie. To me, my outfit looked poorly put together but it seems as if I got it right.

"Thank you, doctor," I replied, mirroring his smirk. We both left the grocery store and walked out separate ways. The taxi driver helped put my grocery bags in the trunk.

"Next stop?" He asked as we sat back inside.

I wanted company and I wanted it from Tobias. But I knew I couldn't do that again. I would have to suffice with watching Brad Pitt on my TV alone. I told him my address and sighed as I looked outside the window longingly.
