Alex's POV

     James and I are on our way to the pack house for our monthly meeting, much to our annoyance. Both of us would rather be home with our mates and growing family. Chloe is two months away from giving birth and him waddling around everywhere is so fucking cute and yet I have to miss it to sit through hours of boring meetings. Pitiful.

     James and Cody have officially adopted Jonah and they three of them have quickly blossomed into such a perfect family. Though shy at first, the kid quickly fell into an outgoing and sporty personality much to James' excitement. We found out that the boy is a Warlock and though it's hard, we're trying our best to make sure he doesn't lose touch with his roots.

     Cody and James spend a least an hour a day trying to learn how to do Jonah's hair and making sure that he feels safe and comfortable with us and I think they're doing a great job. We introduced him to our friends one by one, to make sure that we didn't overwhelm him. He's quickly taken a liking to Bri, her nature Faerie magic the closet thing he has to someone like him. And though she only knows so much from growing up around werewolves, she does the best she can to help him learn at least a small piece of his magic.

We're halfway to the pack house, the feeling in the car heavy as we make our way to hell on earth.

"How's Chloe doing with the pregnancy?" He asks and I perk up at a chance to talk about my Mate.

"He's doing great, though no one really lets him do anything. He's so short and being pregnant with twins is causing back problems and aches and pains but a good session in the jacuzzi and a heating pad usually help with that." I say proudly, my pup is doing amazing at being a mom and with all the stuff his body is going through, I'm even more appreciative towards those that carry our kids. That shit does not look easy or fun.

"That's good. Jonah was asking to come and see him. The babies aren't even here yet and he's very protective over them." He says and I have to agree. The times that Jonah has been over, he's followed Chloe around every step of the way to make sure my Princess is okay and talks to the babies constantly.
I thought it would annoy Chloe but he said it's nice to have someone around to fuss over him and make him laugh while the rest of us are busy.

"Yeah, I'll be sure to talk to him about it when I get home." I tell him and he hums. We finally make it to the pack house and with heavy sighs we open the doors and hop out the car, James locking the doors before he comes to walk with me through the door and to the meeting room.

      "Good morning Alpha James and Beta Alex, how are you doing today?" Zee, James' personal assistant and one of our longest friends says mockingly as we enter the room and I instantly roll my eyes.

     "Oh shut up, Zee. No one believes the preppy shit coming from your mouth." I tell her and she laughs as she sets our papers on the table.

     'Her girlfriend Rain does, how she misses out on the crazy I don't know.' Tobias says with narrowed eyes as she plops down at the table. As always James sits at the head and I fall into the right with Zee sitting across from me.

    "How's fatherhood treating the two of you?" Our friend asks like she's not trying to come over to one of our houses every other day to check for herself.

       "Doing the same as when you last came over." James says and I snicker but Zee is not phased, used to the two of us after three years.

     "Well Jonah should cone over to my house. He's so sweet and he needs some Auntie Zee love in his life." She says wistfully and I snort.

     "What he needs is therapy after last time." I tease and she sticks out her tongue at me. I change topics however to a more series one. "Are you going to have kids any time soon?" I ask and I can see her body deflate.

     "No." She says quietly. "Not yet. Rain said she's still not ready." She says looking up at the two of us with a sad smile. I wish there was something I could say or do to make her feel better but this is a battle that I can't fight for her no matter how much it hurts to see that look in her eyes.

     Just like Cody she's been trying to have kids for two years. Unlike Cody, she's perfectly able to, but her Mate doesn't want any. I guess as much as the Goddess makes someone for us, we can't have everything.

    It's five minutes to eleven and the door falls open as the steady stream of the rest of our team falls in. I begin to look around for the notes from last meeting only to palm my face when I realize that I left them on my desk at home.

    "Hey, James. Give me two minutes to go call, Chloe so he can bring my notes." I say leaning over to my friend over the noise and he nods as he gets his own notes from Zee. Lazy bastard. I grab my phone out of my pocket and stand up to make my way out of the office muttering excuse me to the idiots that try to squeeze in as I'm walking out. I take my phone to the den where the patio is to the right and quickly dial Chloe's number.

He picks up on the second ring and I smile as I hear his voice. "Hey, Alex, whats up? I thought you had a meeting."

"Hey princess, I do, but I forgot my notes on my desk in my office. Do you think you can bring them over here? If you're not feeling good, I can call Cody or Thomas to come pick it up." I tell him, not wanting to stress him out too much with how big and far along he is.

"It's okay." He says and I can hear him get up and start shuffling around the room. "What do your papers look like?" He asks and I hear a door open.

"It's in a blue folder on the right  hand corner of my desk." I tell him and he's says okay. We quickly say our goodbyes and our love yous before we get off the phone and I'm heading back to the meeting with a smile. At least I get to see Chloe before I had planned. I need my daily dose of serotonin in order to deal with these stupid people.

I open the door just as they're about to start and sit back down in my seat making sure to glare extra hard at David as I take a seat like I always do. "Good morning, everyone, it's good to see you all today." James starts ever the gentleman as the rest of use begin to pay attention and the chatter dies down.

     "First order of business, Lance, how is the construction of the school going in our sister pack?" He asks looking up at the Autumn Falls Construction's president.

    "It's going good, we have enough material now to get the job done about a month or two ahead of schedule. The families of the pack always feed us lunch and bring us water which makes things easier. They're all really grateful that we chose to help." He tells the group proudly and James gives him a nod of approval.

      "Good job, Lance and thank you for using your men and women to help our family in need, you'll all be getting a two dollar raise within the next month for the extra work as well as trying to continue building the pack's family homes." He says and I beam proudly at my friend who always goes above and beyond.

     Not only does the construction team get paid to build whatever they're working on, James makes sure to pay them hourly and every overtime they're out in the sun or the cold, an extra nickel ever hour. As much as people were skeptical about James becoming Alpha, no one can say he's not doing a great job.

     We continue to go down the list until there's a soft knock at the door and I smile as Chloe comes through the room, his perfect belly huge, filled with love, food and our precious babies. He comes over to where I'm seated, eyes only for me as he hands me my blue folder. And of course he's not done there, he carefully pulls out a catering bag from behind him that he sets on the table before glancing around at everyone.

      "I know some of you eat lunch late because of this meeting, so I thought I would bring some for you guys. Meetings on an empty stomach makes everyone grouchy." He says softly and people around the table laugh as I just sit there and marvel at how thoughtful he is as James and Zee begin to distribute the food. Chloe bends down to give me a kiss and I smile into it as I rub his swollen belly lovingly.

      "Thank you, princess." I murmur and he gives me one last kiss before he pulls back slightly.

     "You're welcome." He says before he standing up to carry himself and the twins out the door. He turns around once more to wave and blow me and kiss beige the door shuts behind him.

     The Goddess blessed me more than I could've ever asked for and I'll be forever in her debt.
