THERESA HAD REASSURED HER that she wasn't angry because Delilah had left, but when they walked into their second class, she seemed on edge. Delilah didn't pry, sitting down in the second row as she glanced up at the professor. Today's lesson was about quantum mechanics and she had been looking forward to it, already taking out her notebook, but Theresa spoke to her before she could open it.

"Did you really not notice?" she said," how can you be so at ease?"

"What are you talking about?" Delilah said.

"Everyone has been staring at us all morning," Theresa frowned as she looked around," it's like we're walking around naked."

"Am I?" Delilah blinked, glancing down to check before nodding to herself," no, it's fine."

"I've been thinking this," Theresa said, her voice amicable," but you really are lost in your own world at times, Delilah. In the best way, I mean of course."

Delilah's fingers tapped absentmindedly on her cheek, a smile on her face. "Mhm."

"Hey, you're Delilah, right?"

She glanced up, Theresa already raising her eyebrows at the two girls who were standing in the row behind her. When Delilah nodded, one of them scoffed, glancing back at her.

"You're the girl who assaulted Jonathan?" she said.

"Did I?" Delilah mused.

"Oh, don't act all innocent now," the other said with a roll of her eyes," the whole university knows you're crazy. You've been going around telling people that their dead friends were talking to them, never mind the whole story you made up about the fucking Grim Reaper."

Delilah's eyes slowly wandered over the two of them, before she flashed them a bright smile, ready to turn back around again. It was Theresa who spoke first against them, voice kind.

"Let's act friendly now, shall we?" she said.

One of the girls scoffed, glancing at Theresa like she was filth beneath her shoe. "Who do we have here? Not Theresa Petrovic acting like being friendly is the first thing on her mind. How many guys have you been through who have left you because of your terrible personality?"

"You know her?" her friend asked.

"Yeah," the girl chuckled," she dated Jonathan before all this too, so no wonder she's taking this bitch's side."

Theresa's smile disappeared, but when Delilah was about to say something an angry voice left Theresa's lips.

"Oh fuck off," she snapped," don't act like the whole university cares, as if they all have nothing better to do." She grasped the girl's collar, pulling her down as the girl watched her wide-eyed. "And you know what, fuck being friendly, if you want a taste of this terrible personality so much, you can meet me after class."

"Let me go!" the girl hissed at her, slightly panicked," you're crazy!"

"The professor just entered," Delilah remarked.

Both Theresa and the girl immediately jerked back from each other, Theresa taking her seat as the girls walked away, all the other students around them mostly having minded their own business. When Theresa looked around and didn't find the professor, she stared at Delilah, eyebrows raised, and in response Delilah chuckled.

"I didn't know you were so feisty," she said.

"Shit," Theresa sighed, her cheeks flushing red as she looked down," I'm sorry, this short temper of mine always gets me in trouble. I told myself to keep it in check when I got here, but -" She swallowed, awkwardly placing her hand on her neck. "Anyway, I hope I didn't freak you out."

"You didn't," Delilah reassured her.

Theresa blinked at her in surprise, before a tentative smile tugged at her lips.

"My anger management classes have helped a lot," she said," you should've seen me before." Her laugh sounded more like she was breathing out her tension than anything else, voice clear despite it all. "At this point it feels like I'm looking for both love and a fight, whichever one I find first."

Delilah gently took her hand in her own, squeezing it as she beamed at her friend.

"Either way, thank you," she said.

"You are too kind, Delilah," Theresa said," people are out here spreading rumors about all this nonsense, it probably was Jonathan, he always talked so much."

"I don't think it was him completely," Delilah said, tapping her pen absentmindedly on her paper," we were loud at the party, so anyone could have heard. He probably fueled the gossip, but I know exactly why, so it's fine. Besides, with how well-known Jonathan was at the party, I already assumed something like this would happen."

Theresa stared at her, eyes wide. "When did you get so perceptive?"

"I was just guessing," Delilah said, before adding," and it's all fine, because they aren't rumors. The Grim Reaper is real and I have seen him."

In response Theresa placed a hand on her forehead, a worried frown on her face.

"You don't feel ill," she said," is this your hangover talking?"

"I don't get hangovers," Delilah replied matter-of-factly.

"Who are you?" Theresa said, shocked," some kind of god?"

Delilah didn't have the chance to reply, because at that moment the professor walked in. After her third class she made her way to the Physics faculty, Theresa joining her for lunch with the guys. Not everyone was staring, but she caught the glances every now and then, people whispering to each other. With him being the head of a frat, she had expected Jonathan to be less loved, but considering how easygoing he had been, she wasn't that surprised.

"There they are," Theresa said, pointing ahead at where James and Roshan were standing with their backs towards them.

They were talking with two other guys, snippets of their conversation waving through the air.

"Come on now, dont tell me you believe her wack story about the Grim Reaper, man. You're the most rational one out of all of us."

She could already sense James' anger from here, even though she couldn't see his face.

"Listen, if Delilah tells me it's true, who are you to question her?"

"What is it?" his friend chuckled," don't tell me you're in love with this girl or something."

Though Roshan normally would have taken any chance to talk smack about James, he now simply swatted his physics book against the guy's head, looking bored.

"You're acting childish," he said," what does it matter what Delilah does? You've never even met her."

"What the hell, man," his friend groaned, rubbing his head as he looked at them," at this point I want to, because she has to be one hell of a girl for you two to like her."

"I am attracted to men, Peter," Roshan stated, before adding when Peter's lips parted," and no, you are not one of them, don't bother asking."

"Really Peter?" his friend chuckled," Roshan walks around campus dressed like a beautiful peacock and you thought he was straight?"

"I didn't want to assume!" Peter exclaimed, cheeks red.

"Speaking of, how is your boyfriend, Rosh?" Delilah smiled as she joined them.

Peter glanced at her, a frown on his face. "Who are you?"

"Ah, I completely forgot to introduce myself," she beamed, extending her hand," you said you wanted to meet me, right? It's Delilah."

He paled at once, words stumbling across each other as he tried to say something, Roshan watching him amusedly. After only incoherent sentences came out Roshan broke the tension, a chuckle leaving his lips.

"Devansh is alright," he said," we are fingerpainting in the park again today, if you want to join."

"That sounds fun," Delilah said," my readings for today told me you would be with loved ones."

"What about yours?" Roshan asked.

Delilah's gaze flicked to the sky outside, the cards coming to mind again.

"I would make a decision which would set my fate in motion," she said," I wonder what it's talking about?"

"Do we have an exam today?" Theresa frowned.

James scraped his throat awkwardly, pocketing his hands as he looked at her.

"By the way, Delilah," he said," can we talk in private? I want to ask you something -"

"Delilah! Delilah, where are you? You know I get lost easily."

The echoing shouts made her attention snap towards the source of it, though she couldn't see him. Mateo had disappeared ever since last night and she had presumed him to wait for her in her dorm room. Though it wasn't rare for Mateo to make a lot of noise, it alarmed her nonetheless, so she squeezed James' hand apologetically as she muttered a quick excuse and ran.

The hallways were becoming more quiet as she moved through them, the bell which signaled the beginning of class having rung a while ago. Just when she was about to reach the room where Mateo's voice was coming from someone tugged at her arm, causing her to be pulled aside. She easily recovered her balance, her years of yoga having worked wonders, the girls in front of her smiling.

"Who are you?" Delilah asked, tilting her head to the right.

"Don't act like you forgot," one of them snarled," we literally saw each other a couple of hours ago."

"Ah, right," Delilah said, her eyes lighting up," the girl in love with Jonathan and her..." She swallowed her words, not about to out the other girl as she looked at them. "Friend. How are you two?"

"Just here to give you a warning," the girl said, jabbing her finger against Delilah's chest," Jonathan is mine. So you better stop bothering him with all your bullshit. He's had it hard enough lately, what with Logan passing -" She stopped talking, as if the words felt too heavy to speak. After shaking it off her she continued, voice clear again. "Anyway, stay away from him if you know what's good for you."

"Are you two dating?" Delilah asked curiously," you don't seem that compatible, aura-wise, I mean."

Her eyes burned as she spoke, looking ready to tackle Delilah.

"And who are you to tell me that?" she hissed.

"My girlfriend."

All their gazes snapped towards the guy beside Delilah as he placed an arm around her shoulders, smiling at her fondly. She simply stared up at Jonathan, eyebrow raised.

"Am I?" she mused.

He let his lips graze against her cheek, whisper so quiet it tickled her ear.

"You are now."
