Bailey's POV:

I'M OFFICIALLY 18! I jumped out of my bed looking in my mirror not seeing a single physical change but who cares I'm 18 now. Oh yeah, I'm 18! I do a little dance before taking a breath, now what. All I have is school today. Spending my birthday at school sounds like it sucks but it's okay I don't mind, I'm just happy because Skylar will come home soon after bring gone for days.

And it was those days where we both found how clingy we can be, not that it's a bad thing but if trading is something she wants to do when we're older then being clingy is something we're going to have to learn not to do, to a certain extent. I can't believe I'm 18, I really need to stop thinking that like, of course I'm 18 but now I think it opens up a few doors for me.

But those doors need money, like moving out, getting a car. Doors that sophomores I know have already opened. I have a little saved up but the most I can do with that is get more books or maybe clothes, maybe a fancy dinner but that's really it, nothing big but it's okay. I got ready for school wearing the hoodie that Skylar threw at me as we ran from the cop and I went downstairs seeing both my parents stand in the kitchen.

Something smells good, really good. Like muffins. "Morning hun, happy birthday!" My dad walks up to me and hugs me kissing the top of my head, "My little girl is grown up." He squeezes me tighter and I pat his back wanting him to let go, it's one of those feelings where you're the one awkward and the other is genuinely enjoying it.

"Happy birthday Bailey." He beams at me moving out of the way letting my mom walk towards me and she cups my face placing a soft kiss on my forehead, this is new. I don't remember this happening. Oh my, am I touched starved? I should find out what my love languages are. "Happy birthday Bailey." She tells me and I put on a smile.

"Are you wearing make up?" She asks scanning my face and I nod, "Looks good." She strokes my cheek, "It does?" I question and she looks at dad who nods for the both of them, it's just lipgloss and mascara and concelor to hide some of my acne scars. "It does, it's simple and lady-like." She says walking away and I internally groan, should've known it wouldn't have lasted forever.

"Something smells good though." I comment trying to look around the kitchen and my dad tries to hide his cheeky smile as he pulls something out of the oven and he pulls a sheet of tall blueberry muffins, those smell really good, "Where did you get them?" I watch him struggle trying to figure out where to put the pan.

"From the bakery that we went to on your tenth birthday the one across the city, just take one though, we have guests coming over and we want them to try it too." He watches me take just one, "Daniel, let her take more for christ sake." Mom swats his shoulder and I take three more from the dozen.

"What are the guests going to eat then? It's early." He complains and I hear the bus pull up, "Sheri's here, I'll see you guys later, thank you for the muffins." I tell them quickly walking away, I think they see client and other lawyers more than they see me. "Happy Birthday Bailey!" I get greeted by Sheri and she unbuckled herself from her seat giving me a hug.

"Oh I remember giving you your first bus ride your freshman year, oh how time flies." She whimpers pulling away and she starts fanning her face, "Oh Sheri don't cry." I try to calm her down, "Oh I'm trying not too but you've grown into a beautiful young woman and it's making me emotional, oh and you're graduating soon I'm so proud of you." She hugs me once more and I wrap my arms around her.

"Thank you Sheri that means so much to me." I try to not let my voice crack as I feel myself start to tear up, I'm going to end up crying today. "Do you want a muffin?" I ask her as we pull away from one another. I looks at me strange and I take one of the muffins handing it too her. "Thank you again Sheri." I tell her walking to me seat not letting her say anything else.

We eventually got to school and I got off the bus looking around for Carmen. I didn't see her outside so I made my way into the school pulling out my phone.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY BITCH!" I jumped dropping my phone right as I entered the double doors and I look into the corner of the hall seeing Carmen with a bright smile and balloons in her hand.

"I think you killed me." I gain my breathing back trying to feel for my heart if it's still beating. It feels like I pooped my heart out. "Ahhh go shawty it's your birthday we're gonna party like it's your birthday!" She sings drawing more attention to the both of us.

"She gives me a hug helping me pick up my phone and we go to our spot. "I can't believe you're eighteen now, ahhhh you're an adult now how does it feel?" She asks and I shurg my shoulders, "I don't know, it doesn't feel any different." I laugh and she hands me three pink balloons with glitter in them then dumps a wrapped gift onto my lap.

"What's this?" I ask trying to figure out what it is. "I can't tell you that, now come on open it. Open it." She cheers and I rip the paper apart revealing a box set of a brand new book series. "Happy birthday Bails, I love you." She hugs me and I hug her back, "Thank you I love you too!" Dammit I'm close to crying again.

"This is amazing." I look back at it grazing my fingers across the hardcover spines. "Oh man I was hoping to give my gift first." I hear Skylar's voice and I shoot my head up seeing her stand there in front of me, my jaw drops and I move the box off my lap launching myself onto her wrapping my arms around her neck and she wraps hers around my waist.

"You're back!" I hold her tighter and I feel her nod into my neck, "I couldn't miss your birthday and so I made Sage and Dean take me back." She mumbles and the vibrations run across my skin. I'm so happy right now, oh she's here.

"Happy birthday Beans." She kisses me and I cup her face making it last longer. "Ladies, PDA." We both pull away seeing the librarian stare at us and I turn away rolling my eyes. Bitch.

Skylar and I still hold each other while we wait for her to mind her business. "Well that sucks for her." She kisses me again, "As I was saying earlier I have a gift for you too but in order to get we're gonna have to leave." She says and I raise my eyebrow, "Leave school?" I question and she nods and I look over my shoulder seeing Carmen get up.

"You better leave because Skylar was actually talking to me planning whatever she's doing making sure that I'm okay with her stealing you away from me for a whole day and I'm okay with it." She smiles and I quickly let go of Skylar giving my best friend another hug. "You're the best." I whisper to her and she chuckles.

"I'm definitely the best, now go before I take you away from her and I'll drop these off at your house because I know these balloons won't survive when you guys get on her bike." We pull away from each other and I wave bye before taking Skylar's hand as we walk out of the school grounds.

"So can I get a hint about where we're going or what my present is?" I ask clinging onto her entire arm. "Nope." She responds, "Please." I say, "Nope." She responds, "Pretty please?" I ask and she shakes her head. "Can I please get a hint?" I ask once more and she groans dipping her head back.

"You know you're annoying." She looks at me and I nod, "I'm very much well aware of that but you're not giving what I want." I tell her.

"And what is it that you want?" We get to her bike and I grab the helmet, "A kiss." I say and she leans into me but I quickly cover her mouth before our lips can touch. "And- And to know where you're taking me." I control my smile and she rolls her eyes not moving away. "It's a surprise." She mumbled, well that didn't help.
