Skylar's POV:

"Wow, are you sure there's no one in there?" I hop out of the car seeing Beans point at the fairly large building where anyone that remotely works for the government work, "I'm sure no one is here, even though we're in the middle of the city I don't think anyone is really going to notice us at all." I tell her looking around seeing strangers walking and chatting among themselves in restaurants and just on the sidewalk. "So do we just go in?" Beans pokes my arm and I tilt my head motioning her to follow me.

We walk closer to the entrance and I open the door letting her in first, the bright lights hung from the high ceiling lighting up the entire place that seems to really like glass, glass staircases, glass doors with steel handles, the walls were decorated with pictures of staff and events, certificates and posters of random motivational words.

"This is so cool. It's so serious." Beans walks further running her fingers across the edge of the tables lined up by the walls with vases of flowers and nicknacks.

Seeing her awe of anything makes my heart skip a beat somehow and I don't fucking know why. It's just, seeing her appreciate what's presented, makes me feel safe with what I'm capable of doing and it doesn't seem to scare her. "Yeah it's pretty cool and what's better is that the cameras are off because again the security is lazy to do anything about it so we can do whatever we want." I catch up to her and she turns around with an idea in her eyes, "Anything?" She hums and I nod.

"In that case then, you're IT!" She taps my shoulder then sprints off down the corridor and I smile to myself taking off following her direction. "HOW ARE YOU SO FAST?!" I pump my arms seeing her a few feet ahead of me, "Come on grandma you're faster than that!" Beans laughs somehow getting fast. I shouldn't have said anything, I keep running across the glossed wooden floors keeping Beans in my sight as she enjoys the children's game of tag.

She all of the sudden makes a sharp turn up a staircase and I try to make the turn but I lost my balance hitting the nearest wall. "Uh oh, are you okay?" I see Beans' head pop out from the upper floor trying to contain her laugh. "

You're going to pay for that." I groan getting up and I immediately dash up the case skipping a few steps and she yells seeing me get so close to her. How am I out of breath already? I continued chasing her peeking into a few rooms as I ran by them.

"SKYLAR LOOK AT THIS!" I looked in different directions trying to find where Beans' voice is coming from. "WHERE ARE YOU BEANS?!" I yelled cupping my hands around my mouth, this place is fucking huge. "I'm in this room!" I hear her as if I know what room she's fucking talking about. I jog down the hall. I haven't been here before so it's all very brand new and I think I'm lost.

Bailey's POV:

"I'M IN HERE!" I try to say louder while being amazed by the book selection this city hall has, I kept my eyes on the wall most filled from ceiling to floor with leathered books. Most of it has to do with law and leading, some Sigmund Freud, Henry James, Charles Darwin, Erik Erikson, and B.F. Skinner. A lot of men, typically.

"Thank fucking I found you, crap. I ran down so many halls." I turn to the doorway seeing Skylar hold herself up on her knees trying to catch her breath.

"We ran from the cops, a game of tag can't be too much for you." I tease and she shoots her head up and I see the light shine of sweat which somehow made her hotter. I quickly divert my eyes back to the books organized by height, I glanced up seeing a familiar author, "Hey Skylar can you reach that?" I ask point at it and she walks closer, "What book?" She steps very very close to me and I can feel the heat radiate off from her.

Oh I can just grab her face, no no no no no. Stop thinking. "I think, uh- I saw a book by Jane Austen on top there and I can't reach but maybe you can." I got out trying not to sound nervous, I looked down a little seeing her mouth that's parted a little, "You want a book?" Her lips moved and I quickly make eye contact with her.

"Yes." I mumbled and she turned her head moving her ponytail to her back letting me see her jawline, just looking at it can give me a paper cut. "That book is not by Jane Austen, it's by Emily Brontë. Also, you're it." She looks back at me with a cheeky tapping the middle of my forehead.

"Oh that's okay, it's probably Wuthering Heights and I've already read that. And you're right I'm it but I think technically it's a time out since we're not playing now but I'll take it." Little does she know I'm a boss and tag.

"Never read it, heard of the author but never read it. It sounds old anyway." She takes her own look at the magnificent stocked shelves and I stroll behind her, "Well she is dead and Wuthering Heights is a book written in eighteen-forty-seven so yes it's very very old." I laugh pulling out a random book.

"What's that?" She immediately asks and I snap it shut showing her. "Math? They have math in here, that's fucking gross what kind of city hall is this?" She fakes gags point her finger at her mouth and shivers before continuing walking.

"You know one day I will find you a book that you will read and learn to love." I will find her a book if it's the last thing I do. She stares blankly at me then raises an eyebrow, "Really? That sounds impossible, you can even ask Dean and Sage, they haven't seen me read anything once. Tried it and hated it." She pulls out a random book then puts it back.

"You think that it's impossible but I will do it and I will find you something that you will not be able to put down and how about this? I'll make sure it's a book that has a movie adaption that way you can watch it too." I offer her something that she will have a better chance at doing.

Learned that because of our Pride and Prejudice somewhat movie night. I love my brain.

"Okay fine I'll attempt to read it but if I give up I'll go straight to film but it has to be a certain book." I can't believe she's actually considering this, I thought it'd be harder to get her to agree. "Okay, what's something that you won't read?" I ask, "No poetry, I don't understand it. Nothing old like taking place in the late seventeen-hundreds, I don't understand the language. Nothing really action-packed either because that stuff is too hard to picture. And nothing nonfiction, if it's real then I will find it boring." She stuffs her hands in her pockets.

She technically didn't mention anything about romance, so I will find a great love story. "Okay all of that noted but in the meantime, I think we should do something different." I take a step closer and she slightly looks down at me. "And what's that?" She bends down so that we're at eye level and a smirk plays on her face. I'm starting to think we're slowly thinking the same thing. I lick my lips and I bring up my index finger.

"I think we should get back to our game of tag, so you're it." I tap the center of her forehead and I ran around her escaping into the hallway and I look both ways seeing the right side lead to another staircase leading up and I go towards it. "BEANS!" I hear Skylar yell my name and I laugh to myself skipping steps to the third floor, I use the railing to swing myself around the corner and I quickly open up a large frosted glass door.

I look around the room seeing that it belongs to the Mayors. I see his plaque on the desk that faces away from the large windows that can clearly overlook the main street of this part of town. I walk further into the carpeted room seeing his degrees and random certificates. It's quite impressive. "Gotcha!" I feel my heart skip a beat as I get lifted on Skylar's shoulder. "OH MY! SKYLAR! Put me down!" I grip onto her shirt as I get spun around.

"I got you I win!" I feel my body get put down into the chair and it's the Mayors, I slouch into it catching my breath and so does Skylar planting her hands on the armrests trapping me between her. "I win." She beams and I nod finally not heaving.

"Yes you do." I take a deep breath in catching myself looking at her mouth again. It's happening too often. I make eye contact with her but then she quickly glances at the same place that I have. What's the worse that can happen right?

I lean up, quickly cupping her face in my hands then pulling her closer landing my lips onto hers. I close my eyes feeling her give in. I should've kissed her sooner. I slowly pull away but she chased me leaning in again connecting our mouths once more. Oh my I can't believe this is happening. Her hands found the back of my neck and she pulled me closer to her as if I wasn't close to her already and I tilted my head a little deepening the kiss. I felt myself smiling and she pulls away chuckling a little.

"Couldn't help yourself could you?" She continues holding the back of my neck while stroking my cheek with both of her thumbs and I hold onto her wrists shaking my head. "Nope, I'm just glad I did it." I attempt to lean in again but she stopped me with a smirk and she leans forward keeping our lips close but not touching. "I'm glad you did it too." I felt her breath on my lips.
