Somehow, the new day felt strangely good without any effort to keep it that way. Selena's eyes hadn't even opened, but something told her that today was going to be a rare one: a great one in fact. But it's exactly what she deserved.

Usually, she would sigh to herself, praying to whoever is above or her possible guardian angel slash fairy god mother, if such a things even existed, that the day would go smooth enough with no halt signs or abrupt news to drive off course . Smooth enough that she would go back to the same position she woke in, close her eyes and finally release a sigh of relief, not the persistent great, another boring day one.

But the most important thing was the person lying directly beside her. She could feel the warmth of Jason beside her as they spooned perfectly, his arm resting like a feather on her hip. She didn't dare move too much, she might ruin the moment and he'd stir into a position not suitable to her awaken needs. Instead, she kept her eyes closed and just snuggled her head into the pillow even more, hoping to go back to sleep for an extra hour.

But this wasn't just Jason anymore. This was her boyfriend. She actually had a boyfriend, a relationship with a guy that adored her and her feelings weren't actually fragmented to create a mess that would take years to repair on the floor.

"Good morning, beautiful." His morning voice was caramel, silky smooth somehow with little to no rasp.

Damn it, she though.

"Good morning, handsome." Unlike the other times they spent a night together, he gave her a tender kiss to brighten her day even more than before. She had no other option but to smile through it as her hand stroked his skin from his neck to his check. "Did you have a good sleep?"

"Too good." He chuckled, rubbing his tired eye.

"I could do with a few more hours, I think."

"How about a few more days?" He pulled her closer and didn't decline this invitation to close the distance between them even more, though the space left was already reaching full capacity.

They didn't speak another word for at least 15 minutes, not that they needed to. This was enough for now, just enjoying the morning birds, their silence and the body heat from one another. He wrapped his arms around her tightly as she drowned herself in his natural musk, his muscular build, the tattoos and everything else she was finding out about him. He enjoyed the flesh on flesh, providing each other enough warmth with the icy bedroom from the broken student heating.

"I hate to be a mood killer but I have a lecture in an hour." Selena glanced over to her watch that she forgot to take off and winced before she even spoke, knowing she had to pull the plug on dream of staying in bed, cuddling with her brand new boyfriend. "I should get ready."

"Miss one more lecture." His voice finally raspy. "What's the harm of just staying in my arms and never moving again?"

"Studying your tattoos sadly doesn't get me my degree." She jokingly scoffs at him.

"It's so worth it though." He sensually lifts himself up so he is above her and begins to plant small kisses on her lips, down to her neck, a sweet spot. She closed her eyes, ignoring the world and it's obligations as she shut off every single sense that was useless to this moment. "Stay with me, please."

His lips somehow were so delicate and it made her yearn for more. God, she wanted more. Consumption by a man wasn't the worst way to go, was it? Her walls were titanium made and unlucky for Jason, she had strong willpower despite his alluring efforts. "I'm sorry, I really need to go in today."

He was upset about the turn down, but he understood. A few hours apart? It's nothing. It will fly by in a flash. "I expect a lot of making up from you when you get back."

"I'm sure I can think of something." She glides off the bed effortlessly, walking to the bathroom in only his shirt and underwear, Jason had his full attention on her exposed legs to her slightly exposed ass. "Do you like pot noodles?"

"I do." He raises an eyebrow. "Why?"

"What about a pot noodle while we watch the sunset with a bottle of wine. I'll even throw some flower petal on the floor for you. I think that's pretty romantic."

"Sounds good but a pot noodle?" He didn't mean to mock, but it was just boggling his mind. He dated before, very high maintenance girls who expected the entire world in their hands, topped with a golden cherry. But Selena was not like the others.

She was a simple girl, and that made her extraordinary.

He entire body just flings at the door threshold, frowning at him for the evidence of judgement. "There's no need for the silent judgement on my idea of romance. The rooftop view is amazing for its views and you'll be surprised what I can do to spice up a pot noodle."

"I trust you." He clarified to her before whispering to himself. "I think."

"Hey, I missed you on the bus. Where were you?" Faiths head was altered to Selena's lateness to the lecture, missing her usual bus and instead, taking the one that would make her ashamed and late.

"I woke up late." She was fortunate that the lecture was still waiting for many students to arrive, though it was only 5 minutes past since the lecture is supposed to start and it was a regular occurrence for the commuters to be late due to the universities park and ride policy. "I also have some pretty amazing news to tell you."

A blushing smirk came across Selena' face as Faith watched her take her seat beside her, lifting her laptop out of her bag, ready for the lecture first and foremost. "Wipe that smile off your face, people might think you're happy to be here and that's not cool." Faiths sarcasm was response with a twisted face full of mockery before she finally was set.

She sighs as she looks as Faith, not knowing how this would really go with their history, however she was full of joy, so who cared? No one was going to rain on her parade today. "Jason and I are officially dating, as of last night."

"What? How?"

"He asked me after we got back from the movies. I just couldn't believe it, I didn't even think he saw me like that, or at least not on my wavelength."

"Wow." Faith made a convincing liar that Selena's blissful mindset hadn't even realised that she wasn't as happy as a best friend should be. Her grin wasn't as full and her voice didn't share a level of enthusiasm expected for her best friend to be this happy. "I'm so happy for you guys. It was about time one of you finally grew a pair and took the leap."

Faith was instantly pulled into a forced hug, but she didn't deny it. If anything, it was the only part of this discussion that she would enjoy because deep down, knowing this news meant something to her. It hurt. "Thank god he did because I don't think I could have dealt with the possibility of rejection if it was the other way round. You know what I'm like, wrong place, wrong time and bam, turned down."

Faith says as she pulls away slowly.  "He would have been stupid to reject you in any situation."

"I'm glad you're okay with this."

"Why wouldn't I be? I'm glad to see you happy." Even if it is with him she thinks to herself.

"Thank you, Faith." Sincerity has laced her words but it couldn't be said for Faith who was biting her tongue right now.

"But if he dares to hurt you his face will be meeting my first."

"Sounds like a deal. Anyway, that's enough of Jason talk. I heard on the bus that there is some emo night in town this weekend so we are going. I think we deserve a good night out after everything that's happened."

"We haven't been on one in so long so I'm down." She finally sits back, releasing the tension she had been feeling since the revelation. "What am I going to wear?"

"I was thinking those blue ripped jeans and fish net tights ready but I need some heels and a top."

"Wait, I finally have an excuse to wear that lace bralette I got a few weeks ago but is a little too revealing. It's been sitting in my cupboard for way to long. Maybe, I could pull some emo guy in it."

"We are sorted then. Want to go shopping tomorrow then?"

"Why not after the lecture? The stores will still be open when we finish."

"I promised Jason that I would plan something romantic for us after and I don't want to let him down."

"Oh." Tension was back and it had an uncomfortable effect on Faith as she kept stirring in her seat now. "Yeah, that's cute. No, of course. Tomorrow is good." She fumbled her words, looking down slightly but cloud 9 Selena was already paying attention to the professor who had shouted for everyone's attention.

Jason has been sitting on the rooftop of the building for 20 minutes, watching the sky begin to add the golden embers, ready for sunset. Selena had been preoccupied supplying the food she had promised several hours before and Jason was starving for it.

There was two deck chairs already stationed on the room so keeping to the theme of delivering romance, while Selena did her own thing, Jason pulled the blanket Selena gave to him, spread it all out on the dusty floor with the two chairs on each top end so it would not fly away and the small basket that contained the glasses, cutlery, plates and wine on the other.

Selena has even bought up her own fairy lights to give them more light. Though the battery power was low and it wasn't as illuminating as it could possibly deliver, it did the job. The starry lights added to the overall tone and it completed the entire atmosphere.

"Here we are." Selena bellows from the door many meters away with a covered dish in her hands. She smiled widely as she came closer with her romantic dinner. "I hope you're hungry."

"Did you change your mind about the instant noodles?" She shook her head instantly.

She gathered herself and knew a dramatic method of showcasing her food was in order. As she clears her throat when she's directly beside him, she kneels down.

"As promised, a pot noodle dinner." Selena handed Jason what he assumed would be a plastic container with simply a pot noodle. However, it was a pot noodle turned into a gourmet meal, added pieces of beautifully seasoned chicken, additional vegetables such as red and green peppers, onions and spinach, a hint of garlic and sriracha sauce for a calm heat.

"That isn't a pot noodle." He pointed out as she revealed the dish like a chef awaiting their first Michelin star.

"I used the pot noodle noodles, the seasoning pack as the broth and then did my own thing to jazz it up. Conventionally, no it is not a pot noodle. But technically, yes it is. Eat up, let me know what you think."

He gave her a side glance as she began to dish it up, two hearty spoonfuls each with plenty to spare for after. Jason was impressed by how well she had prepared this, a weird take on a stir fry. However, the presentation was trumped when he could feel the intoxication from all the flavours combining themselves into one delicious moment. Everything meshed well, even the sauce to give it a kick.

"What do ya think?" She took a small bite into a piece of chicken, watching Jason lose himself to the food. She knew it was good, she was cocky about it. If she didn't have faith in anything, it definitely wasn't her jazzed up instant noodle meal.

"Fuck, this is delicious." He groans happily. "How have you done this?"

"I'm glad you like it." Pride was all she felt.

"I genuinely could eat this every day if that was possible. What is the heat coming through, it's just perfect?" He tried not to scoff it all in one go because it was a hard task not to. Instead, he tried to savour each flavour, knowing the extra food would not be going to waste tonight.

"Sriracha. It's a chilli sauce that I had in my cupboard. I can't even remember buying it to be honest. Usually, I add dried chilli flakes but I ran out so this was the only thing I had. It's not too bad, I thought I put too much in." She adds, slurping on the single noodle that managed to miss her mouth.

"No, it's the perfect amount."

"I have to admit, this is probably my best attempt to date."

"You know it's okay to be cocky about your cooking. I would be if I could cook something like this from basically nothing. In fact, I'd be waiting to challenge Gordon Ramsay with it."

"He wouldn't challenge me, I'd have him scared to even pick up a chopping board." There is was, the sense of cockiness mixed with sarcasm that made their conversations the best.

After they ate their food with pleasant discussion and half a bottle of wine and counting, they both moved from the chairs to the blanket resting on the floor, with a pillow each to rest their heads and extra comfort. The sun was setting and only had a few distant rays behind the streets, the moon and stars becoming into view.

"I don't know why but I sometimes think about how if you never asked me for a pan for your midnight snack when you moved in then maybe we wouldn't have been this close." She was contently playing with Jason's fingers as she spoke softly.

They had figured the perfect position. Jason rested completely flat on his back while Selena was resting on him slightly, her leg has overlapped his for that closer touch. As she cuddled her head into him more, it gave him the perfect opportunity to hold her close with the arm she was leaning on. He was afraid to let go by how his hand handled her, with care but with urgency.

He didn't take a single second to think about his response. "I highly doubt that. You had my eye right from the start."

"Really? That's such a weird concept to me."

"It is?" Confused, he tried to think to himself about how this was. How could this beautiful person be estranged to such a feeling?

With a small breath, she stopped playing with his finger and balled her fingers together now,. "I'm usually the friend that gets fazed out, you know? Sort of blends in with the crowd and doesn't get that much attention from anyone, especially when up against these other girls who know what guys want and they do it so well. They're beautiful, they have the charisma, the entire package. I'm just basic, I suppose. Not that it's a bad thing or that I even wanted the attention, but it shot me down a little that no one cared about who I was."

"You have all that, you're beautiful, funny, kindhearted, you can cook." He lifts his bowl up in confirmation. "You are special and those guys must have been fucking stupid to not see that."

"You think?" She lifts her head slightly so she could look at him rather than the glistening of the stars. And almost in perfect sync, he looked down at her.

"You don't blend into a crowd, if anything you are the only thing I see in a crowded room."

"Shut up." She giggles with a faint blush on her cheeks. Selena didn't like to blush much, but in this case she couldn't resist it. She was still adjusting to the compliments from an actual boyfriend.

"In a way, it worked out for the best." He says with a grin but she raises an eyebrow slightly to him.

"How so?"

With a smirk, he leans in ever so softly to give her a kiss. Meaningful and short, sometimes the best ones. "If you had caught one of their eyes then maybe I'd have to kill for you."
