Don sped down the road swerving in and out of traffic, racing to Darnell's house. Once he was able to let the words "I'm pregnant" set in, he had to talk to her.

In a matter of minutes he was at Darnell's door banging for her to open up.

"Darnell!" He yelled not caring who saw him at the moment.

Darnell heard Don at the door and took her time getting up to open it. Call her petty, she didn't care.

"What Don!" Darnell swung the door open revealing an irritated Don. If it was possible, he would probably have steam coming out of his mouth, nose, and ears.

"Darnell don't fucking play with me. You know exactly why I'm over here."

Darnell rolled her eyes and walked away leaving Don at the door. She really didn't want to do this with him right now.

During her drive home Darnell prayed and asked God to guide her through this journey. She knew eventually she was gonna be okay and decided to embrace this pregnancy this day forward.

Walking in her living room, Darnell plopped down on her couch grabbing her salad.

Don walked in closing the door behind him. He followed after Darnell and watched as she acted like everything was all peachy.

"Darnell"

"Don"

"Man Darnell. You acting like you being pregnant ain't a big deal."

Darnel groaned. "You don't think I know that Don. I sat in this house for almost a damn week crying my fucking eyes out. I don't know what you want me to do, cause I'm for sure not getting a damn abortion."

Even though Darnell had her little melt down, having an abortion never crossed her mind. She just wanted to be the best mom she could be for her child.

Don was relieved to hear Darnell's words. Half of the reason why he was mad was he thought he was going to have to go through the same shit he did with Kaydence's egg donor.

Don dragged his hand down his face. "Darnell all I ask is you let me be in my child's life. I want to be at your next appointment and all that come after that. Cause I'm gonna tell you this right now, Imma grown ass man and I take care of my responsibilities."

"I hear you Dillon."

Don sucked his teeth as Darnell wouldn't even make eye contact with him. She continued to stroll through her phone taking bites of her salad every once in a while.

She was telling the truth when she said she heard every word Don said, but that didn't take away from the words he said before. It was true they weren't together and he could do whatever he pleased, but that didn't stop the feeling of her heart being broken.

Her mind was telling her to follow what Naree said and push the feelings she had for Don away, meanwhile her heart said to forgive cause she knew he was a great father and would be for their child.

A awkward silence filled the air. They had nothing to say to each other, but there heads filled with so much noise. Don sat for a minute more before opening his mouth.

"Are you gonna text me when the next appointment is?"

"Yeah Don."

"Aight I'm gone then."

Darnell stayed seated while Don got up and headed for the door. It was weird that they were in the same room and there was no kissing, hugging, flirting, or cuddling.

Everything that they were used to was now gone. It wasn't what they wanted but, something they had to get used to. The hurt and pride Darnell had wouldn't allow her to see anything with Don go any further than parents.

She waited for the door to close to get up and lock it. She released a breath and allowed the silence to take over her. 'Everything's gonna be okay.'

Don sat in the bed watching Kaydence's little body move up and down as she slept. He couldn't believe that in no time he would be having another child. Kaydence was already a handful, but he loved everything about her. Without her he wouldn't be the man he is today.

He could admit that Darnell being pregnant was the last thing he thought would happen, but if he was able to go back and change what happened he wouldn't. Don knew Darnell would be a great mother to their child just by the way she was with Kaydence.

Don's phone brought him out of the whirlwind of thoughts swirling through his head. He looked down and saw it was Yameer calling.

"What up brodie."

"Nothin much. Was good with you my dude?"

"Man. You ain't gonna believe the shit thats going on over here." Don rubbed his hand over his waves.

"You sound like you in some deep shit."

"Tell me how Darnell popped up on my ass at the club after I got done fucking some chicken head."

"For real bro?"

"That ain't even the wild shit bro. She came in taking shit like she wasn't ignoring my ass for a whole fucking week, then she tell me she's pregnant."

"Awe man. You bout to be a dad again Don. You don't know what a condom is? I know you said the cha cha was good, but damn was it that good to hit it raw?"

"Shiiiitttt, yeah."

Yameer laughed. "You a fool man. So what y'all gonna do?"

"Nothing. I told her I want to be there for my child and she was acting like it didn't effect her."

"You think she got pregnant on purpose?"

"Naw Darnell ain't like these hoodboogahs out here trying to get knocked up by some baller to take care of her. The times we would hang out and talk, having a baby was the last thing on her mind. She would tell me about all the shit she wants to do and a baby wouldn't even fit into the equation."

Don and Yameer chopped it up on the phone for a while until Yameer told him that he had a girl coming through. They hung up and Darnell took Kaydence to her room and put her into her bed.

After tucking her in he went back to his room and got comfortable in his bed. Before his eyes could close his phone went off again.

Darnell👅😻: The next appointment is on the 15th at 4:45 pm.

Me: I got you. Thank you Darnell.

Darnell👅😻: Yeah.

With that Don locked his phone and put it on his nightstand, letting his thoughts consume him until he fell asleep.
