Wedding Day

Darnell stood in front of the large floor to ceiling mirror that was in her Bridal suite. She stared at her reflection while nervously brushing away any lint that gathered on her wedding dress. The room was quiet which left her in her thoughts.

Who would have known two years ago she would meet and fall in love with her soon to be husband. Don: a man that she once despised was the man that swooped her off her feet. Of course they had some ups and downs, but they always came back together in the end. If Darnell didn't know any better she would have thought God had made Don just for her.

She was quickly taken out of her thoughts when there was a knock at the door. She yelled out for whoever it was to come in.

"It's time mamas."

She turned around seeing Naree with a wide smile across her face. She looked at her friend glad that she had someone close to her here on her special day.

She didn't want to get emotional about the fact that her mother, father or even her grandmother wouldn't be their to celebrate this special day with her, but she knew they where there in spirit. Right beside her side cheering her on.

Darnell took another minute to look at her self again making sure everything was in place. She wanted to look perfect for Don and surely she was.

It took her 5 months to find the perfect dress and vail. Days of stress and agony where finally over and today started the first day of being Mrs. Dillon Lee Taylor. She took one last breath before grabbing Naree's hand allowing her to lead the way.

On the other side of the venue Don was siting back in his Grooms suite smoking a blunt.

He wasn't nervous at all. He knew he wanted to marry Darnell the day that he watched her push out little Don. He just wanted to make sure Darnell got the dream wedding she wanted and the day went by smoothly.

Putting out the roach, Don began to get ready suiting up in his tux. This was something new for him. He wasn't used to wearing a whole three piece, but for Darnell's happiness he would do anything.

He placed on his Rollie after placing on his platinum cufflinks and of course his signature Cuban chain. He pulled on his Luis Vuitton dress shoes, then sprayed on one of Darnell's favorite colognes he wore.

Don looked down at his watch checking the time. It was 15 minutes to 3 o'clock. 15 minutes from not being a single man anymore. 15 minutes from being responsible of the happiness, safety, and security of the woman he would be calling his wife.

Yameer came in with Ashley behind him. Yameer grabbed his shoulders giving them a soothing shake. "How you feel bro?"

"I'm good. Just ready to get through this day so me and wife can get to this honeymoon."

The two laughed while Ashley rolled her eyes.

"You ain't never lie bro." Yameer dapped him up. "I'm proud of you bro never would have thought out of everyone, you would be getting married."

"Me either man. It's just when you find the right one you don't want nobody to even think they could have a chance with her and the only way I know I can show the world and her that I'm serious about her is putting that ring on her finger."

"Preach on my brother. Hopefully one day I will feel what you feel for Darnell."

"Yeah one day."

Ashley stood in front of Don fixing his tie and running a lint roller of his suit jacket.

"Thanks Ash."

She smiled at him. "Your welcome."

Finally, Polly came to the door ushering out the three. Ashley went to her seat with the rest of the guest, while Yameer and Don made their way to their respected positions.

John Legend's So High began to play as Don came threw the double doors and down the isle dapping up some men and hugging the woman that where in the crowd. He made it to the alter waiting on Yameer and Naree then Darnell.

Naree stood in front of Darnell grabbing both of her hands getting her attention.

"You look so beautiful best friend. I'm so happy for you." She pulled her into a hug that comforted and eased her nerves.

Polly placed Yameer and Naree together handing Naree her bouquet of white roses. Darnell looked on as she admired Naree's and Yameer's outfits. They looked so good together that it made Darnell's heart flutter.

Darnell peaked through the doors as she watched as the two stroll down the isle before separating.

Next was Kaydence who had on a beautiful white dress and terra. She kissed her check before letting her go off. Kaydence held a basket full of white rose petals throwing them down as she was taught. Behind her was a now 15 month old DJ that walked down the isle with the help of her cousin O'Shea.

When they made it to Don, he picked his kids up attacking their faces with kisses and giving them hugs making them both cry out in laughter gaining awes from the crowd.

Ashley's and Jay's twin boys ran around the perimeter of the room chanting: "The bride is coming!" Making the room fill with laughter.

Last but not least, it was finally Darnell's turn to make her way down the isle. The pianist continued to play the instrumental. Everyone stood to their feet waiting on Darnell.

Polly helped Darnell fix her vail, pulling it over her face. She gave her one last hug before signaling the ushers to open the double wide doors.

The short walk to meet Don seemed to take hours to Darnell. She kept eye contact with Don the whole way. She watched as he looked at her with so much love and admiration. She breathed in and out, trying to control her tears that were pooling under her eyes.

Once she made it to the alter, Don grabbed her hand helping her up the steps. Pastor Michelle stood between the two greeting the guest and starting the ceremony.

30 Minutes Later

Darnell and Don stood outside of the tent that held their reception. All the guest where inside and they where waiting on the DJ to announce the two.

Darnell giggled as Don repeatedly ran his hands up and down her frame. He stood behind her with his arms wrapped around her waist.

"Don stop before you give me a hickey." Darnell whined as Don kissed on her neck.

"I can't help myself. You look so beautiful. I couldn't ask for a better woman to be my wife and mother of my kids."

"Awe babe. I love you so much." Darnell turned giving him a kiss on Don's lips.

They stepped back from each other taking in their appearances. "Did I tell you how good you look in your dress?"

"It's only like the 59th time, but I appreciate it. Thank you babe."

"I can't help but acknowledge how handsome you look today as well. Real daddyish."

The two laughed.

"You wild ma but thank you."

Polly came from out of tent walking over to the newlyweds. "It's time to go in you guys to go in."

Don could hear the DJ hyping up the crowd playing Jagged Edge's Let's Get Married Remix.

"Alright Y'all its about that time. For the first time I want y'all to make some noise for Mr. And Mrs. Taylor!" The DJ yelled over the mic.

Don and Darnell made their way through the tents entrance holding hands dancing. The crowd hyped them up as they made their way to the middle of the dance floor.

Don began rapping to Darnell.

Once the song went off the crowd cheered. Don and Darnell finally got a chance to look around the pact room. They were definitely satisfied with Polly's work. She made Darnell's ideas come together and it looked great.

The DJ came over the mic once again. "It's time for the first dance y'all!"

Maxwell's Fortunate blared over the speakers.

The two swayed back and forth whispering 'I love you's' and how much they were happy to be together. They kissed each other passionately looking each other in their eyes in their own world.

Darnell had a surprise for Don. She looked away from Don's handsome face to make eye contact with Naree. She gave her the signal which told Naree to bring out a chair behind Don. After putting the chair in its place Naree made her way to the DJ booth giving him the signal to change the song.

Darnell pulled away from Don's embrace. Don was in complete shock as Darnell pushed him down in the chair Naree brought out.

The beat for Ashanti's Rock Wit U began play. Darnell stood in front of Don swirling her hips gaining whistles from their friends and family and a 'don't hurt him baby' from one of her aunts.

Darnell swirled her hips in front of Don and then in his lap. Don's face began to flush red as the crowd clapped up Darnell's performance. He held on to her hips bringing her in closer kissing her face. Darnell continued to lip sing to her now blushing husband.

The DJ continued to play a mix of new school, old school, and popular current songs that where being played on the radio. Polly got on the mic announcing that it was time for them to start dinner.

When Don's plate was set in front of him his mouth began to water.

They decided to have choices if their favorite foods. They didn't want anything to fancy. They wanted food that they knew their families were going to eat. Everyday food, food they knew would taste good and good it was.

Darnell dug into her food after saying grace. Little Don came up to her. She picked him up kissing all over his face making him laugh.

"Hey mommy's baby. You ready to eat?" She gathered some food on a spoon for him after placing a napkin over his clothes tucking it into the collar of his shirt.

She looked out into the crowd looking at all the happy faces. Today was one of the best days of her life.

Don helped Kaydence eat her food as he ate as well.

"How is it baby girl?"

"It's really good Daddy?" Kay said stuffing her mouth with macaroni.

"Slow down baby girl." Don laughed. He looked over at Darnell who had little Don in her lap. He found himself staring when Kaydence tried getting his attention.

She was his queen and he promised from this day forward that he will treat her like one and remind her everyday how important she was to him. He never thought he would love so much as he loved her. He was just thankful that God had given him a great woman.

After two hours of eating and laughing from the speeches of their family and friends, Don looked around the tent for Darnell spotting her talking to Naree. He made his way over to her wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Excuse us Naree Polly needs to speak to my wife for a second."

"Oh okay. I'll be over here when you get back mamas." Naree said to Darnell before walking away.

Don pulled Darnell out of the tent towards the main building. "I hope nothing is wrong. What did she say she wanted to talk about?"

Don shook his head. "I don't know. She just said she wanted to talk to us."

Once they got to the grooms suite, Don closed the door behind them.

Darnell looked around the room for Polly. "Where is she?" She turned looking at Don who was taking off his jacket. He walked up to her backing her up to a wall kissing her passionately.
