After three hours of walking around the aquarium looking at all the exhibits Don, Darnell, and Kay were finally checking out the last stop which was the dolphins.

"I'm so excited I love dolphins." Darnell couldn't wait to see all the tricks the dolphins could do. She held a huge grin on her face standing in line waiting to be led into the performance area.

Don looked at her and shook his head. "You more excited than these kids in here."

"Okay and problem."

Don raised his hands in surrender. "Naw ma."

Finally they reached the front of the line and went to find seats not to far in the front because they didn't want to get wet. Don held Kay in his lap feeding her baby puffs. After this they planned on just eating at the food court in the aquarium since they really didn't want to find somewhere else to go.

Soon the lights went low and the show started. Darnell started clapping ready for the show to start. Kay looked over seeing her actions and started to copy them making Don laugh.

45 minutes later the performance was over. Getting there things together they started their way to get something to eat. "That had to be the best show I've ever seen." Darnell gushed with a wide smile on her face.

"Really ma? It was just some big ass fish jumping in some water."

Darnell gasped and held her hands to her chest.

"I can't believe you just said that." She looked at Don giving him a look that could kill. "That was better than when I went to Beyoncé's concert."

Don laughed. "You wild ma."

Finding a booth to sit in Darnell got up to get them some food. He stood in line getting him a burger and fries and wings and fries for Darnell. He picked up an apple sauce and fries for Kaydence. Lastly he got them some drinks and headed to the register to pay.

"Finally. Took you long enough I'm starving." Darnell mouth began to water as Don placed the tray in front of her. "You so over dramatic."

Darnell really was starving. She hadn't had anything since breakfast that morning and the bag of chips she found at the bottom of her purse. To say she was ready to eat was an understatement.

Don sat Kay in a high chair and mushed up some French fries for her and placed them in front of her to let her feed herself. Don and Darnell made small conversation telling each other about each themselves.

"So what made you decide to be a teacher?" Don asked before stuffing his face with fries.

"Idk Ive always loved kids and I'm a stickler about education because I didn't really have those types of opportunities when I was little. It just made since you know." Don nodded understanding what she meant.

"What made you open up a club?"

Don being Don he just said whatever he thought. " I just wanted something better for Kay and myself ya feel me. I promised my granny that I would do something better with my life. I couldn't see myself slanging drugs for the rest of my life."

Darnell looked at Don dumbfounded. She didn't know the reputation and past Don held. She became worried that being out with him wasn't safe. Don noticed Darnell's uncomfortableness and spoke answering her thoughts.

"Relax ma I don't sale drugs anymore. Before I opened up my club I quit."

Darnell let out a breathe of relief. She's never hanged out with somebody like Don before so she had to get used to his soft but hard demeanor. He wasn't like the other cornballs she's dated in the past.

Their conversation continued and when they were done Don got up and took there trash to throw it away. On his way back to the table a older lady stopped him.

"Excuse me young man I just wanted to tell you  that I saw you over there earlier and wanted to tell you you have a beautiful family."

Don looked in the direction of the table and saw Darnell playing with Kay cleaning her up and putting her jacket on to leave. He didn't correct the lady and decided to just take the compliment saying thank you.

When they were walking back to the car Darnell noticed women eyeing Don. She didn't say anything. She figured Don was too engrossed in what he was doing to notice the women, so she didn't make a big deal about it. Plus she couldn't really be mad. Yeah Don is very attractive and they were hanging out but, he didn't belong to her.

When they got in the car Darnell's mind started  turning. She noticed that through out the whole day Don never mentioned Kay's mother. She hoped he wouldn't have asked to hang out when he had a whole woman at home.

Surely another woman wouldn't allow their child to spend a whole day with a random woman she didn't now. She realized she had never met Kay's mother, Don was always the one to drop off and pick Kay up from daycare.

Finally speaking on her observations she opened her mouth to ask. "So how does Kay's mother feel about all of us hanging out?"

Don took a long sigh adjusting in his seat thinking about Brandy. "Um I don't think she minds." Trying to keep his answer short.

"I was just asking because I had a good time today and I hope we could continue but, I don't do baby mama drama." Darnell said with a giggle but she was serious.

"You don't have to worry about Kay's mom. Shes not in Kay's life. The last I heard she moved to New York after Kay was born."

Darnell was shocked, for Kay to be so young she was the most beautiful baby she's ever met. She couldn't fathom how somebody could just leave their child like that.

"Thats crazy."

"Yeah."

The mood of the car became awkward and both parties stayed quiet. Darnell looking out the window at the streets passing and Don paying attention to the road sometimes checking on Kay from his review mirror.

Don pulled into Darnell's driveway and put the car in park. Darnell in her own world didn't notice the car stop.

Don tapped Darnell on her thigh getting her attention.

"Huh?"

"We're here." Darnell looked ahead seeing her house. She started grabbing her things making sure she got all belongings even her stuffed dolphin Don got her from the gift shop before they left.

Still feeling the awkwardness Darnell turned seeing Kay sleeping so she tried to get out the car as quiet as she could.

"Text me when you get home safely?"

"Yeah ma"

She frowned noticing Don's irritation. Don wasn't really mad at what Darnell asked. He was just frustrated with the situation. He hadn't thought about Brandy in a while and it just brought back old emotions he had.

Before Darnell closed the door she gave Don a wave and headed to her door.

Don waited until she was in the house before pulling off heading home. Now in the house Darnell made it to her bed and fell into it face first. She let out a frustrated sigh.

"You just had to open up your mouth and be nosey huh?" She said talking to herself out loud.

She waited for a second before getting up and taking a quick shower. She put on a pair of cotton shorts and a t shirt and got comfortable in her bed. She checked her phone and saw a text from Don.

Daddy Don💦: We home ma.

Me: alright Goodnight

Daddy Don💦: Night
