Hey guys, some of y'all are going to still be mad at me lol.

I swear I'm not doing this on purpose.

Don't worry though, after this chapter some light will be shed on Aurelia and Hanna's cloudy relationship.

P.s. this is a pretty short chapter.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••

"Hanna, are you ready?" My mother yells from downstairs

"Yeah, give me a second" I yell back as I continue to scrutinize my outfit in the mirror

I'm wearing a pink silk dress that is being held by a set of thin spaghetti straps. I paired the ensemble with a few pieces of silver jewelry as well as white Nike's since I'm not in the mood to wear heels.

I quickly pull my wavy blonde hair into a high ponytail before grabbing my purse and walking out of my bedroom.

As I descend down the stairs I notice that it's only my parents standing near the door.

"Where are Isabella and Haley?" I ask as I walk up to them

"They're with Carolina for the next two days" my mom answers with a smile

Is she serious, right now?

My sisters don't have to go to this dinner, but I have to?!

This is completely unfair.

"Then why do I have to go to this dinner?" I ask them

"Because she has a daughter, your age, that you could try and befriend" my mom tries to encourage

"But, mom-" I begin to say only to be cut off by my mother

"Hanna, come on before we're late" she says effectively ending our conversation

She wraps her arm around my moms waist before exiting out of the house. I groan with irritation before following after them, closing the door after me.

This is going to be a long night.

-

The door swings open to reveal an overexcited Amanda.

"You made it" She says as she practically flings herself at my parents

Wow, okay.

This is weird.

She pulls away from them and leads us into the house, the same one where the gala was being held.

It looks much more homey now that there is furniture in the house.

"My daughter is currently getting ready, she should be down in a few," she informs us as she stops at a large dinner table

"Please, take a seat" she encourages with a bright smile

Is this woman ever not smiling?

I silently walk towards the chair closest to the door so that I can have a clean get away. My parents follow suit, sitting side by side on the other side of the table.

Ms. Kingsbury takes a seat across from my parents, effectively leaving a singular empty seat in between us.

Great.

This night couldn't possibly get any worse.

"Sorry that I'm late, I couldn't find my other shoe" someone says from the doorframe

Are you freaking kidding me?!

I look over towards the she devil only to be met with a rare sight.

She's wearing a pair of black skinny jeans which she expertly paired with a black and white flannel. To that she added a pair of white shoes and her hair is parted to the side giving her an effortless look.

Cute but casual.

Her eyes instantly land on me causing her to smirk at my shocked facial expression. I glare at her cockiness and turn around so that I'm facing the chef's, who are currently bringing in the food.

The she devil takes her seat beside me just as our plates are placed in front of us.

"I hope you don't mind having vegan lasagna, Aurelia has been vegan for a few months now" Her mom says causing me to make a confused facial expression

"I didn't know she was vegan" I whisper to myself

"You never asked" Aurelia whispers back with a wink causing me to blush from embarrassment

Oh god.

I can't believe she heard that.

"No, it's fine, I'm always up for trying new things" my mom says with a smile causing my mother to sit up straighter and awkwardly clear her throat

Um, that's weird.

I pick up my fork and begin to quickly devour my lasagna.

"Oh my god," I moan out as the lasagna touches my tongue

"This is amazing" I add as I take another bite

"If I were you I'd silence my moans in front of my parents, princess" Aurelia whispers near my ear

My cheeks start to warm up as I blatantly ignore their stares.

Well, this is embarrassing.

-

The tension between Aurelia and I got so bad that I had to go to the bathroom to escape it.

I've been in here for a total of three minutes, just scrolling through my phone, well up until I get a phone call.

I smile as I swipe the accept button and bring the phone up to my ear.

"Hey, babe" I say

He laughs on the other end of the phone before responding.

"I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing you say that," he responds making me smile

"I miss you" he adds on

I smile as I lean against the sink.

"I miss you too" I reply

"Are you still having dinner at that bitch's house?" He questions

I instantly get an awful feeling in my stomach at his words.

Why is he so mean?

I usually just give her a hard time but I've never thought of her as a bitch.

"Chadley, can you please stop referring to her as that" I beg with a sad tone of voice

"Babe, I think you're forgetting that this is the same girl who beat me up on her first day" he says as if he's making a point

"Technically, she had a reasoning for that" I defend

"How many times do I have to tell you that that was a mistake?" He questions

I sigh as I massage my temples.

"Look, I don't want to fight" I tell him

"Neither do I" he tells me genuinely

"Pick me up tomorrow at seven thirty so that we can have breakfast together before school" I tell him so that he doesn't forget

"Of course, I wouldn't forget" he says with a slight cocky tone

I roll my eyes at this.

"I have to go" I say

They probably think I'm experiencing major constipation right now.

"Okay, I'll call you in the morning" he informs me

"Bye" I end the conversation and hang up before taking a deep breath

What is up with him?

I take a deep breath before reaching my hand out and unlocking the door, swinging the door open in the process.

As I turn off the bathroom light and round the corner I run into a calm looking Aurelia.

"Um, hi?" I greet with a confused facial expression as I stop in my tracks

"Who are you meeting up with tomorrow?" She questions as she leans against the wall

I cross my arms at her tone of voice.

"Why does it matter?" I question back

She shrugs in response and continues to examine the floral printed wall across from us.

"Considering the fact that you had to come all the way back here to make a call, I'm assuming that your parents don't know about it" she says as she nonchalantly messes with her nails

I angrily furrow my brows at her as I listen to her.

"So, What are you saying?" I ask her

She turns to face me with a smirk, a mischievous glimmer in her eyes.

"Wouldn't it be a shame if they found out that you were sneaking around making calls with mysterious people?" She questions me tauntingly

Ugh.

Why must she ruin every aspect of my life?!

"What do you want?" I ask her with irritation clear in my tone, she smirks at this

"Who were you on the phone with, princess?" She asks, not missing a beat

"My boyfriend" I say with a static facial expression

She was obviously not prepared for my answer judging by the way she freezes up and just stares at me.

"Really, who?" She asks with a slight bitter tone

"Chadley" I respond

Her eyes widen as she gives me an 'are you serious?' look.

"Hanna, are you fucking serious?!" She whisper shouts at me

"Why are you yelling at me?!" I whisper shout back

If a group of people were watching us right now they would probably be so confused.

Or they'd be laughing.

"Because you're dating the same guy who previously cheated on you, who does that?!" She asks

I give her an appalled facial expression.

"Not that it's any of your business, but he and I were mature enough to work through our problems" I reply

"Says the girl who avoids me for literally no reason" she shoots back causing me to glare at her

"I don't avoid you" I say matter of factly

"Really, then what do you call leaving a room as soon as I enter it?" She questions as she crosses her arms

"I call it a coincidence, now get over yourself, not everything is about you" I say in the heat of the moment

As soon as those words fall out of my mouth I notice my immediate mistake.

Her angered facial expression quickly turns into a hurt one.

"You're right," she says with a hurt tone of voice causing my heart to ache

"Everything isn't about me" she continues as her eyes stare deep into mine

I give her a guilty facial expression.

"No, that's not what I-" I begin to say only for her to cut me off

"No, it's okay," she says with a sad smile

"I'm kind of tired so I'm going to just retire for the night, I'll tell my mom that you're not feeling well" she says with the same smile

She silently retreats from me, not once turning back to look or glance at me.

Great job, Hanna.

You just had to singlehandedly say one of the worse possible statements ever.

Especially when the statement wasn't even true.

She's one of the most selfless people that I know.

-

"Hey, babe" I hear someone say as they place their hand on top of mine

My head practically shoots away from the window that I was mindlessly gazing out of and towards a concerned looking Chadley.

"Oh, sorry" I say as I run a hand through my wavy hair

Today has been a rough morning.

The problem is that it's almost eight-thirty of said morning.

"Are you okay? You've been distracted all morning and you've barely touched your muffin" he says as he points to my untouched muffin

Great.

Now I'm going to be starving until lunch.

"Sorry, I barely got any sleep last night" I tell him as I awkwardly move my hand away from his

Technically that's true.

I was beating myself up all night about the whole Aurelia situation from last night.

I was completely out of line and plan on apologizing to her today in first period.

"Hanna, are you keeping something from me?" He asks with a suspicious facial expression

"No, why would you think that?!" I question with wide eyes

"You just seem off today, are you pmsing?" He questions with a slight disgusted tone of voice

Is he serious right now?!

"No, I'm not" I say in between gritted teeth

He quickly pulls his hands up in a surrender-like motion.

"Call down, it was just a question" he says

I roll my eyes at him before calling a waitress over to bring me a to-go box.

"Whatever" I say

He's changed for sure.

Definitely not for the better like I originally thought.

I hope he doesn't make any more crude remarks while we're at school.

I want today to be as drama-less as possible.

••••••••••••••••••••••••

Sorry that this took so long to upload.

I haven't had a lot of dramatic inspiration for this chapter.

(If that makes any sense lol)

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
