Someday Out Of The Blue - Elton John

Melanie's Point of View

"What's he mean, wear something he likes?" I said to myself while tearing through my walk in closet. How dare he just barge into my office? But deep down I really didn't mind his presence. He looked so handsome walking around my office, like he owned the place. In a way, he did. I settled in a black peplum dress, with black spiked Louboutins. I wore all black. Because I'm pretty sure I was attending a funeral. A funeral of my pride and sanity. May they rest in peace. At 8 on the dot, my doorbell rang. How he knew my address, I'd never know. But again his lurker status was raised. Hesitantly I opened the door.

"Well, Mel you look stunning." He said walking around in a circle, clearly checking me out. I felt like a water buffalo with a limp and he was a lion watching for a moment of weakness. We've all seen National Geographic.

"Well, thanks you look.....fine." I grabbed my jacket and locked the door behind us. He opened the door for me and we drove to the restaurant in a comfortable silence. I couldnt help but feel like something was wrong with this entire situation.

We walked in the restaurant things were growing more awkward by the second. I felt the way I did all those years ago, not having any control of the situation.

"Good Evening. We have a reservation for Archer." The hostess nodded and led us to our seats. I sat back and blocked my view from him with the menu, earning a chuckle from Ethan.

"So how long are you going to avoid me?"

"Until this stops becoming awkward, and you tell me why you're here." I said while sighing. We ordered and engaged in a staring match.

"Look, I'm back because I missed you. Alright."

"I don't know what to say about that. Ethan I'm not going to lie and say that I don't miss you too. But why did you just suddenly appear? Why now?"

"Because I spent five years realizing how much of a mistake we made. What a mistake I made to have left you. Thinking maybe you wouldn't move on if I remembered your birthday or help you with your company. I've never stopped loving you Mel. And I can't help but think you've become this astounding, brave woman and I've missed out, and wasn't apart of all of it. I know thats selfish of me to say but it's true. I really really miss you."

"Ethan I-"

"I know this is coming from out of nowhere, and its out of the blue but can you at least think about it?" He was really pulling at my heartstrings.

"I'll...um...I'll think about it."

"That's really all I can ask from you." We spent the rest of the night catching up, laughing and joking.

We made our way back to my house.

"Well Ethan, goodnight. Get home safe."

"Goodnight Mel." He kissed my cheek and left. Before I could Eben get to my room. The doorbell rang again, Ethan burst through the door and his lips are on mine. I couldn't help but left him take over. He unzipped my dress and started stripping.

"Keep them on." He said huskily when I tried taking off my shoes. He laid me on the bed and started kissing me. He interlocked his fingers with mine bringing my hand to his lips. That's when I saw it. I squinted my eyes to make sure.

"Whats wrong?" He asked when I quickly sat up.

"Give me your hand." He placed his hand in mine.

"That a tan line on your ring finger? Are you married?"
