"Move the couch there, not over there, stupids." Lily is sitting up on the counter instructing the three guys where to move the couches. Seth is "helping" but Matt and Tom are doing all the work. The party isn't for another hour but Matt and I got here a little while ago to help set up. Lily helped with my makeup when we first arrived, because I couldn't get my eyeshadow right, before we joined the guys to move furniture.

"Lilith, you call me stupid one more time and I will tell your mom how you blew me on her bed," Matt threatens, shooting daggers at Lily who just laughs like a sociopath. All my time spent with them has made me immune to their jokes about once sleeping together. I know it meant nothing so I don't get upset with it.

Actually since our Tori fight I realized I was part of the issue. I kept looking for things that weren't there because I was scared to get hurt. I kept convincing myself Matt was going to get bored and sabotage things because that would hurt less than being blindsided by him actually leaving.

"Mom and Dad's bed!?" Tom yells, dropping the coffee table in his hands. "Their bed? You both have rooms in this house and you picked their bed? What is wrong with you two!?" Tom is now pacing the room with a look of disgust on his face while Matt and Lil laugh.

"We didn't have time to make it down the hall," Lily says innocently while Matt just shrugs and walks over to me.

"Really? You have no shame, Satan." Matt laughs and pulls me off the counter and wraps his arms around me.

"Did you two purposely match?" Seth asks.

Matt and I both look at him in blatant disgust as he walks closer to Lily. "No, I picked his outfit blindfolded, it was a complete accident Seth." I can hear the sarcasm dripping from my own voice as I answer. Seth just really needs to go and after yesterday I finally openly told Lily that. Apparently she has noticed his weirdly friendly attitude with me too and planned to end things after tonight.

"Seth lets go upstairs." Lily drags him upstairs getting him as far away from Matt as possible, knowing he already has it out for him after yesterday.

"Did you hear about our wonderful double date last night?" Matt asks Tom as they both grab beers and I pour myself a glass of wine.

Tom shakes his head confused while we all sit on the couches. I sit on Matt's lap enjoying my little time left to be extra cuddly and clingy. When the party starts we have to act like just friends which is stressing both of us out trying to figure out how to sneak a midnight kiss. We tried to convince Tom to play truth or dare during the party and dare us to do it but he said he is done with all games at parties since the Julia and Kyle meltdown. Matt, remembering our first big fight as friends, agrees that games should be avoided.

Matt rests his arm around me, letting his hand softly hold my hip, his thumb gently running over the fabric of my dress. "Dude it was the worst, I nearly killed that fucking creep."

Tom laughs as Matt gets worked up again about the past. "Wow, Seth creepy with Syd? Dude who would have guessed that? Remember when he offered to help her study when she was complaining to you about the math midterm?"

"I didn't even need help, I was just trying to flirt with you so you would give me attention," I add on, annoyed that Seth cock-blocked me that night.

"I know, you're so smart my girl." Matt kisses my head and I smile smugly even though Seth isn't here in the room. "Anyways back to last night, we were all out to dinner and as we were leaving he offered to give Sydney a ride home. Like what! Drive your date home."

"He what?" Tom gasps, choking on his beer. "And he survived?"

"Barely, I wanted to beat his ass but this one got handsy and I got distracted."

"Hey don't blame me for knowing how to calm you down." I wiggle around in Matt's lap a little and his hand on my hip grips a little harder holding me in place. "Besides, we are getting rid of him after this party. Lily just didn't want to be the loser without a midnight kiss."

"Well I'll go fuck myself," Matt and Tom both sigh miserably. Tom was talking to a girl but she ended up being really boring. He invited her to hang out once while I was here with Lily and all she wanted to do was watch HGTV and not talk.

Tom stands up, throwing his now empty beer in a garbage bag set up for trash. There are many around the house to try and help with cleaning up, but I know tomorrow morning we will all be miserably cleaning anyways because people are pigs. "Well I am going to leave you two for a little bit and cry in my room over how lonely I am."

Matt waits until Tom is gone before pulling his phone out and pulling up the website we were looking at earlier. "Ok this apartment is a little more expensive but it is literally across the street from campus."

"But what is the pet policy?" I ask while swiping through pictures of the apartment. We have been looking at apartments in State College all day. It all started because I said I had a dream that we went to Penn State together and lived together which prompted us to have our first real talk about the future. Never before have Matt and I talked about anything past the end of wrestling season, not even prom, but today we talked about going to school together, getting a place together, and bringing Malcolm to live with us.

"They allow small animals."

"Matt, in what world is your dog that weighs more than me a small animal?"

"Well he is smaller than a horse or an elephant."

I sigh, kissing his cheek, "Tell me how the leasing company reacts to that argument babe." Lately, not blurting out I love him has been so hard and I think I might do it. Tomorrow we are supposed to go to dinner at this really fancy restaurant as a date and I think after dinner if the moment feels right I might tell him. Why keep waiting honestly? I was scared he wasn't ready before and that telling him would ruin everything but I think things are finally right.

"I will. Anyways, want to go lay upstairs and relax until our friends come?" I nod and we both head up to Matt's room, laying on his bed just laughing about the future some more. I listen to Matt try to rationalize why the leasing company should consider Malcolm a small animal and then him trying to figure out how he can get Malcolm licensed as a service dog.

When the party finally starts and a good amount of people have arrived, I head downstairs with Seth and Lily. Matt doesn't join us because still no one knows about us or him being friends with Tom.

"Want me to get you a drink?" Seth asks as Lily greets some friend from college and we both stand awkwardly behind her.

Every creepy thing he has ever said or done races through my mind as I answer, "I can get myself one, thanks." I walk off to grab a drink, saying hi to a few people from school.

"Hey Syd," I hear from behind me as I pour myself more wine from earlier.

"Hey Cory," I reply when I see who was talking to me. Cory and Blake just officially started dating a week or so ago but no one knows. This is their first party dating and they decided they're going to go for the midnight kiss. Matt has already gotten extremely protective of his friend and warned Tom now he will throw punches if anyone gives them shit. Tom was all for it and said he would happily help if people were being assholes to Blake or Cory.

"No Matt?"

"No Blake?"

Cory laughs as I ignore his question, "He will be here in a minute, he is picking up Lance, Kaden, and Nash."

"Ahhh, are you excited?"

"Nervous but kind of excited to be out. I have dreamed about this day of not having to hide since I was like 12. Tonight is the night the secrets finally come out." I give Cory a hug excited for him, but something about his words don't sit right with me. I try to shake the weird gut feeling I have that everything is about to go to hell as my friends walk in and I walk over to them.

"Damn hot stuff," Amanda compliments as soon as she sees me. I opted for a short tweed plaid black and red long sleeve dress and my black thigh high boots. Matt's bow tie matches my dress and I have to say, bow ties make him look really hot. Kyle is matching Julia with a gold tie and Tyler is wearing a black tie but a red shirt to match Amanda's red dress. It is fun dressing up tonight, it feels more adult and fancy than the usual party attire we are in.

I do a little spin for Amanda before thanking her, "Well thank you, you look just as hot momma."

She blushes and looks at Tyler who gives her a little smirk. "I told you you looked hot, don't doubt me." I roll my eyes at their cute little moment and move to hug Julia.

"Umm hot," I deadpan looking at Julia's gold dress. It reminds me a lot of the dress Ana wore to the club in 50 Shades Freed  but gold instead of silver. The entire back is open and the front has a low scoop neckline and she added a gold and rhinestone choker and heels to complete the look.

Julia smiles and I see the confidence she has. Kyle has done wonders for her confidence and she stands proudly in a dress that not too long ago she would have been terrified to wear. "Thank you, Syd!"

Once they all have drinks we move to the dance floor and I get lost in the music. Some time later I notice Matt and his friends walk into the room and they all spread out trying to find a girl for the night. Cory and Blake are nervously standing together so Matt waves for them to follow him as he makes a beeline towards me.

I continue to dance with my friends as he walks over pretending we didn't spend the whole day together. "Hey Barbie, Happy New Year's Eve."

"Thanks Satan, want to dance?" Matt and I usually dance at parties but casually. We haven't danced like Halloween since that night because we know how things escalate when we do. We dance together standing slightly apart as Tyler and Amanda join us. Tyler has gotten a little more relaxed at parties, actually dancing with us lately. I think the fact we are dancing with Matt and his friends makes him feel like Amanda is more protected. He is probably right honestly, few people would be stupid enough to mess with someone Matt is friends with because he will find out and you will pay. My reputation since flipping Asher has also added an extra layer of protection, even guys have stopped flirting with me since that day, they're much more respectful now.

As the night goes on and everyone gets more drunk, including Matt and I, we begin to slip a little. "Bad Guy" by Billie Ellish plays and I push my back into Matt and wrap my arms around his neck behind me. This pulls my dress up substantially and his fingers softly trail up my thigh to the hem of my dress which is mere centimeters from my panties.

I turn around to face him, not bothering to fix my new scrunched up dress and grab his face. "I like when you get mad," I sing along, biting my bottom lip.

"Do you now?" he says as he looks down at me pressed against him.

"You said she's scared of me? I mean, I don't see what she sees but maybe it's 'cause I'm wearing your cologne" Matt dips his head down and sucks softly on the crook of my neck.

"You do smell like my cologne." His voice is deeper now and I feel his pants tighten. I pull his hair gently as the next song begins and I move my body against his.

I grab his wrist and look at his new watch I got for his birthday. "It is 11:33, want to go upstairs and ring in the New Year early?"

Matt doesn't even bother answering as we both sneak off toward the stairs. I catch Amanda's eye as we run off and she smiles and throws me a wink as she dances with Tyler. We both basically run up the stairs and Matt rips the door open to his room, slamming it shut and instantly crashing his lips to mine.

We walk backward towards the bed and I push Matt, down crawling onto his lap. His one hand runs up the back of my neck and grabs a fist full of hair while his other slides under my dress and forcefully grabs my ass. "Fuck Sydney."

"Leave the bow tie on, it's hot," I instruct as he loosens it to take it off. He smiles and slides it off his shirt so he can take off his shirt but doesn't take the bow tie off completely.

Julia's P.O.V.

"It is getting close to midnight, have you seen Sydney?" I ask Kyle at around 11:40. He scans the room and shakes his head. Weird, she was dancing right next to me like an hour ago. I think Matt was dancing with her at some point but I wasn't really paying attention.

I walk over to Amanda and ask her the same question, "Have you seen Syd?"

"No," she quickly answers.

"She is probably in the bathroom Jul," Ty adds.

"Umm ok? Well I am going to go find her and make sure she is ok."

"We'll help," both of them offer quickly and we start searching the house. I lose my friends in the crowded house so I start asking around if anyone has seen her myself.

I start to get nervous as more and more people tell me they haven't seen her. Where could she be, the house is big but not big enough to just randomly disappear without a single person seeing you. I start to frantically open doors and interrupt a lot of gross make outs as I tear apart the first floor. I start to head upstairs when Asher grabs my elbow.

"What you creep?" I shout, ripping my arm from his grip.

"Fine, I guess you don't want to know where your precious cousin is."

I stop and turn back to him with a dangerous look, "If you hurt her I swear to God."

"I didn't but I do know where she is," he teases and takes a long sip of his drink.

"Tell me!" I scream, pushing his chest desperate to make sure she is ok.

He laughs and grabs both my wrist in his one hand, "Upstairs, second door on your right. You're welcome."

I take off up the stairs as I hear my friends yell my name. I don't stop but I know they're chasing after me. In the dark it is hard to tell which room is which, giving them time to get upstairs. I finally figure out which door is the right door and race towards it. Just as I throw the door open Amanda screams, "Julia no!"

Sydney's P.O.V.

I am so caught up in Matt and unbuttoning his shirt while we continue to make out that I am oblivious to the world around me. I can't hear the insanely loud music shaking the house; all I hear is Matt's heavy breathing and moans as I push my hips against him again.

Suddenly the door is thrown open and I hear a loud gasp. I shoot up and look at who just walked in. Apparently neither of us locked the door which I am quickly regretting. All my friends including Julia are standing at the door staring at me on top of Matt.

I quickly climb off his lap and fix my dress while he fumbles to fix his buttons that I had undone seconds earlier. "Julia."

She looks between us in shock still trying to process things. I walk toward her, stopping halfway between the bed and the door where she is standing. Matt is still behind me sitting on the bed not moving or speaking. "Are you two like dating or something!?" she yells, finally getting over her initial shock.

I panic at her question and yell back, "What, of course not J! Don't be crazy, I would never."
