"Let me buy this house for you, please. I know you love it and it's perfect for the baby. The one I liked won't do, is not as open and you’re right, it doesn't look like a home."

"Maddox." I press exasperated.

"Hadley." He says seriously.

I look at him and he's just so eager to do this. I know there's no way I'll change his mind. "Fine, but you didn't get to see the gym and the office. I think you'll really like those rooms."

"There was a gym? Upstairs?" He asks interested.

"Yes, and it was big. I'm sure you'll fill it up." I say grinning.

"I will." He agrees smiling.

We pull into the real estate office and we get out of the car and walk into the building. I look at my phone. Chris still hasn't called and it’s twelve in the afternoon all ready. We walk into Lindsay’s office and she gets all the paperwork together.

"I need to use the restroom, I'll be right back." I nod that I heard and he leaves.

A minute later I hear Lindsay say, "You know, most women would be grateful their rich boyfriend wanted to buy them the house they loved." Lindsay says obviously not liking me.

"I am grateful, but I want him to like it, too. That's what I care about."

"Well forgive me, but you’re coming off as a spoiled brat."

"Oh? You’re coming off as a little jealous." I reply.

"What are you, like eighteen? It's a little slutty to get knocked up. Not to mention, it's in poor taste to trap a man with a baby. Look at you, he deserves better than you. I bet I could change his mind." She says challenging me.

"Try one thing on him and I'll shove your head so far up-"

"Hadley, we're leaving." Maddox interrupts. Turning to Lindsay he says, "You’re fired." Standing by Maddox is a man and his mouth is hanging open.

"No, Mr. Kahn, please. We can get you a new realtor, one that is more professional than Miss Schwartz." The man begs.

"Why would I do any business with you? Look at your employee's behavior. She insulted my fiancée." Maddox's voice rises angrily.

"She will not work at this office anymore." The man promises.

I hear Lindsay gasp and I turn to her. "What did you honestly expect?" I ask. She stays silent but she is turning red and glaring at me, I laugh. "This is your fault, you can stop glaring."

Maddox takes my hand and walks out of the room, the man follows us. "Please wait, Mr. Kahn, we will have her dealt with immediately. I will put another employee on your account and you can get the house you want. Please."

Maddox stops and turns back to the man. "Tell whoever to start the paperwork. I'm going to go calm down. We'll be back in a minute. Put down full asking price, cash, with closing in a week, contingent on home inspection." Maddox orders and we exit the building.

He takes a deep breath and pulls me in his arms. "I knew I should have fired her as soon as I saw her. I just didn't want to ruin our day."

"Yeah, I didn't want to say anything either. I just wanted a day with no stress."

He laughs without humor. "She was pretty obvious wasn't she?"

"Yes, very." I agree.

"Okay, let's buy this house and go home. I'm starving so we'll stop for something on the way home. What sounds good to you?"

"Anything, I'm hungry, too."

We go back inside and we sign the necessary papers and Maddox sets up a home inspection. We stop and get Chinese food on the way home and spend the rest of the day online, shopping for furniture that I like. We don't buy anything but tag it all. Maddox is going to hire a decorator to do the house which I'm grateful for. I don't want to spend hours looking over paints, fabrics and furniture styles.

********************Monday*******************

I printed out my classes for today. I had all ready preordered my textbooks, they were shipped to my aunt's and Maddox picked them up. I have a full load so my day doesn't end until 5:30.

I'm taking a full load to get all my prerequisite classes done so I can get into my core classes faster. I have a sociology class first at 9:00-10:45 a.m. I leave with Maddox, he has classes until twelve and he wants to pick me up from school tonight.

"It's good that most of your classes are in one building. But I'll show you where the others will be, it’s not far." Maddox shows me the building two of my classes will be in and then drops me off at the building my day starts at.

"Thank you, I'll see you tonight." I say leaning over to kiss him.

He kisses me back and says, "I love you." As I exit the car.

"Love you, too." I say smiling.

I hear Maddox drive away as I walk toward the building. The halls are crowded and I look for my classroom number. I find it quickly and walk in. The room is half full so I sit in the first chair I come to which is the front row on the left. I look at the clock, five minutes to nine. More people come in and like me, most look like freshman.

I watch as a girl with a low cut top and short shorts takes the seat on the right and another girl dressed just as scantily sits on my left. They do know they are only sitting in class, not a speed dating seminar, right?

At nine exactly, I watch a younger guy probably around twenty-seven enter the classroom. He's good looking with dark brown hair and light green eyes. It makes sense to me now why the girls are dressed like they are. The teacher is hot. I smile slightly to myself as I take out my notebook and textbook.

"Good morning, I'm Professor Miller. Welcome to sociology 101." He says and the girls by me eagerly reply, "Good morning."

"I will be taking roll today and on and off throughout the semester to discourage skipping and I want to learn your names. So, let's start. Missy Adams." He starts and so on. A minute later he calls my name and I raise my hand. He looks my way then continues through the rest of the class roster.

The class is long and we go through the reading list and the big project we will be starting in a couple of weeks. The girl next to me on my right is Jenny, she asks question after question. I can tell by the end of class Professor Miller was getting irritated. She was very obvious leaning over and crossing and recrossing her legs. When it was time to leave, I packed up and left as quickly as possible. My next class was introduction to physiology. It was only a few doors down so I was one of the first to arrive.

By the end of my day, I had chapter upon chapter to read and a few questions to have ready for debate on Wednesday. I walk out of the building and my shoulder hits someone in passing. The folder I was carrying falls and all my papers fly out. I don't look to see who I hit but I apologize and start picking up my papers. I see a hand give me some papers that scattered further away. I thank them and put everything back into my folder. When I stand up and can see without my hair blocking my view of my helper, I recognize him.

"Sorry about that, I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking." I say to Professor Miller.

"That's okay. Hadley, right?" He asks smiling.

"Yeah. I'm in your nine o'clock class." I reply.

"Yes, I know. You don't look like a freshman." He says scrutinizing my face.

"I get that a lot. I look a little older than I am." I agree.

He cocks his head to the side. "It's not only that, you act different, too." He says.

"Oh." I say a little confused. If he means I don't flirt with teachers, he's right.

"You’re more mature than your classmates." He adds smiling.

"Yeah, I thought that might be what you meant. That was embarrassing for women of all ages." I say, thinking back to the Jenny girl next to me.

"There's always a few every year." He says shaking his head.

"Well, sorry for bumping into you. I should get going. See you Wednesday." I say smiling. He smiles and waves.

When I turn away, I see Maddox pulling up to the curb. I walk to the passenger side door and get in.

I lean over to kiss him hello. We kiss then he asks, "Who's that?"

Looking over my shoulder I see Professor Miller still standing where I left him. I look back at Maddox. "My sociology professor. I bumped into him on the way out and I dropped my folder, he helped me pick it all up."

"Why was he looking at you?"

I look back to Professor Miller but he's not there anymore. "He's not." I deny.

"He was."

"I don't know, Maddox."

"So, how was your first day?" He asks changing the subject.

"Long. How was your day?"

"Great. We got the house and the inspection went well. I have the designers coming to meet with us tomorrow night to go over some plans. Whatever you don't like, tell them and they'll change it. It's what they are paid to do."

"Okay. I'm hungry, feed me." I beg and he laughs.
