Maddox and I are at his car when John, Mary, Logan, Adam and Luke pull up in the drive way. Great, this is not going to be good. I watch everyone get out and I see Logan's nose is taped up and there's some light bruising under each eye from the broken nose and a cut above his right eye. I know I'm looking at Logan sympathetically and that he notices. I wish Maddox wouldn't have hit him. There's nothing I can really do but apologize for any part that I had in the altercation.

John turns to us. "I want everyone inside now." Maddox puts my bag in the back seat of his car and takes my hand, walking us back inside the house following everyone else. I see Chase and J.J. all ready sitting at the kitchen table eating the chicken and dumplings grandma was making earlier. "Sit." John orders. We all take a seat. I'm sitting by J.J. and Maddox. Logan, once again, is sitting across from me. I want to apologize but I don't want to say anything until after John's had his say.

"What's going on between Hadley and Maddox is between them. Logan, they're together and you had no right to say anything behind his back to Hadley. Maddox, if you hit another member of this team again, I will suspend you from playing." John warns.

"You don't worry her being with him? What if he loses his temper with her, think about it?!" Logan yells.

"I'd never hurt her, you fucking prick." Maddox states, glaring at Logan.

"Does she even know where you came from? What you are a part of? I can't believe you would let your niece be with someone whose mother killed his father. What if the apple doesn't fall far from the tree?" Logan questions Uncle John.

I hear Aunt Mary gasp, and John yell, "Logan!" Maddox starts to stand up but I pull him back down and lean over the table and slap Logan across the face. Everyone is silent.

"If I ever hear you say such arrogant comments about Maddox or his family again, I'll finish what he started and give you two black eyes." I threaten, pointing at him.

Maddox pulls me onto his lap, leaning his forehead against my shoulder while Logan stares at me in shock. Then I hear, Madonna singing, 'Like A Virgin'. It's coming from my purse on the table. I take out my phone and I see Tyler's name on the screen. Maddox sees the caller ID and starts chuckling. I answer. "Hello, Tyler. Love my new ring tone." I say, sarcastically.

"Hey, babe! Are you with Maddox?" He asks, excitedly.

"Uh, yeah." I answer confused.

"Good, put it on speaker."

I hesitate briefly. "Okay." I put it on speaker.

"Maddox?" He asks.

"Yeah." he replies.

"That ring tone is just for you. So, when Madonna sings like a virgin, you can say, 'No you're not, I took that shit last night'." Tyler laughs and Maddox shakes his head.

"Tyler!" I yell. "We are so not best friends anymore!"

"Too late, I all ready bought the bracelets. I'll send you a picture, I got you green."

"Her favorite color is red." Maddox tells him.

"Well duh. I know that, I'm her best friend. But I like green and it will match her eyes."

"Are you serious right now? How are you friends with Tyler Murphy?" Luke asks, disgusted.

"Are you really a virgin?" Adam asks right after Luke.

"Well obviously she has great taste in best friends, not so much in boyfriends. And nope, like I said, Maddox took that shit last night." Tyler answers I can tell he's smiling. I put my head in my hands.

"Are you okay, kitten?" Maddox questions rubbing my back and laughing at my embarrassment.

"Kitten, huh? She seems like a wild thing, probably clawed you up good." Tyler says teasing.

"Tyler!" I yell again. Everyone laughs except me, I'm mortified. "Can you shut up?"

"I wasn't even talking to you. Let the men speak!" Tyler jokes.

I put my head on the table and my hands over my head. "I don't think Hadley can talk anymore." Maddox says, laughing. "You kind of interrupted a family meeting here."

"Oh, shit you're with her family! And I told them-Fuck, Hadley, I'm so sorry!" Tyler shouts, sounding genuinely sorry and worried.

"Just stop talking. God, you're making it worse." Maddox states, shaking his head.

"You don't have to call me God, Maddox, my name's Tyler. All right, I can make this right. My favorite color is purple and I still sleep with my wubby."

"What's a wubby?" J.J. asks snickering.

"A blanket I've had since I was born. Oh, and I call it a wubby. Am I forgiven?" Tyler pleads.

"Yes, just don't say anything else." I plead. I really don't think Tyler's someone you could ever truly be mad at.

I hear a bunch of beeping, like he's dialing the phone. "What are you doing?" I ask, amused.

"You told me not to talk, so I'm doing Morse code." Tyler replies, seriously and continues pressing buttons.

"Stop! You can talk, just not about anything embarrassing. Did you call just to talk about my new ring tone?" I ask.

"Nope, I was wondering when our sleep over is. We can practice French kissing on each other and play doctor. Sorry, Maddox, it's only a two person game." He states, sympathetically.

"Tyler." I say, tying to sound serious but ruin it by laughing.

"What, he won't bother us. We'll make a sign with crayons and put it on the door saying, 'No Maddox's allowed'. It will be fine. Now, do you want to be the sexy nurse or the patient in desperate need of a sponge bath?"

"Nurse for sure." I answer, sarcastically. "Can we talk about this later? We really were in the middle of something."

"Okay, call me back or I'm sending you a sexy pic of myself." He threatens.

"How exactly is that a threat?" I ask, laughing.

"I will ruin you for all other men." He replies, simply.

"Okay, I get it. I'll call you tonight. I promise." I say smiling. "Bye, Tyler."

"Bye, babe." He replies, as he hangs up.

"Sorry, about that." I apologize to everyone.

"No, I'm sorry. Maddox, I should have never brought that up." Logan admits, looking really ashamed. "You have my word I won't say another thing about you or your relationship with Hadley."

"I'd appreciate that." Maddox replies. I don't think he'll be forgiving Logan any time soon. "We really have to get going. We have ten minutes until my grandfather shows up." Maddox says, pulling out his phone.

I get off his lap and stand. I look back at Logan. "I'm sorry, but you really needed that slap." I say, teasing him.

He nods. "I deserved it." He replies, looking at his hands.

"You did. But I still would like to move past all this and be friends."

"I'd like that." Logan responds, smiling.

I smile back and take Maddox's hand. "Bye, everyone."

We get a chorus of byes and head for the door. When we get to the door of his car, Maddox hugs me and kisses my lips.

"Thank you." He says.

"For what?" I ask.

"Standing up for me." He smirks. "It was hot."

I push him. "My pleasure, now let's go."

"It will be your pleasure later." He grins.

I get in the car and we head for his condo. I wonder what his grandfather's like.
