Jessica's POV

I woke up at 8:30 in the morning and looked around. Elliot and Leigh were still sleeping peacefully. I got up and quickly showered and got dressed. Once I was done I took Elliot and Leigh out to my truck and started the truck. My destination was anywhere away from here. I turned on the radio and Centuries by Fall Out Boy came on. I remembered when Ella and I sung that song together at Asher's house. I looked over and Elliot was slowly waking up. I knew that soon Leigh would wake up too.

It was around noon when we finally passed the state line. I was finally out of the hell hole state that I had lived in my whole life. The state my mother died in. The state one of my best friends died in. By the time it was getting dark I saw the outskirts of a city. I drove to a small hotel near a gas station and parked. I paid for the night and noticed I only had $50 left. I guess this would be the town I stay in. It was early in the morning when I woke up. I made sure that Elliot and Leigh were asleep and I snuck out quietly.

Across the street from the small hotel I was staying in was a 24 hour diner. I walked in the diner and looked around. Behind the counter was a short woman who looked to be around 30 years old. She had brown hair and brown eyes. I sat down in a booth and she walked over.

"Hi sweetie, my name is Catherine and I'll be your server, what would you like?" she asked in a sweet voice.

I skimmed through the menu quickly before just ordering coffee. She brought me my coffee and I just drank it quietly. Shortly after I finished my coffee a group of guys came into the diner. One of them was bloody and bruised. Catherine quickly ran over to him and had the guys set him in a booth. The similarities between her and the guy were obvious so I'm guessing he was her son.

"He needs help the idiot got himself stabbed." one of the guys told her.

Catherine gasped and started mumbling. I could tell she had no idea what to do. All of sudden the bell on the door rang. In came a guy with a knife. His eyes immeadiatley went to the guy on the table. I felt the cool metal of my gun against my back and slowly grabbed it out.

"Just leave my baby alone. Please." Catherine shouted.

I stood up just as he was about to start fighting the guys and cocked the gun. Everyone froze in the room.

"Haven't you ever heard the saying not to bring a knife to a gunfight?" I questioned him menacingly.

He turned around and looked at me with anger.

"I suggest you leave now before I decide to use this gun." I told him.

The guy quickly ran out and I put my gun away and walked to the guy on the table. The first aid kit was on the table and I opened it. I grabbed out the needle and string to put stitches on the gash on his chest.

"Bring me some alcohol." I said quickly and Catherine rushed off to get it.

When she gave me the bottle I made the guy drink some and then put some on a towel and wiped off the cut. The guy cursed and was held down by the others. I slowly started stitching up his wound. Once I was done I wrapped gauze around it and started leaving.

"Wait, I noticed you came from the hotel, do you need a place to stay because I would be willing to let you stay with me since you saved my son." Catherine called out to me.

"I wouldn't want to intrude." I said.

"No, please let me do this. You saved my sons life." she said.

"I have two younger siblings with me." knowing that would be a deal breaker.

"That's fine bring them here I live right around here." she said.

I nodded my head before heading to the hotel. I put all my stuff in my truck and carried my two sleeping siblings out to the truck. I put them in and drove over to the diner. I grabbed them out of their seats and went inside. Catherine smiled at the two sleeping figures in my arms holding out her arms to take one of them. I nodded my head and handed her Leigh and readjusted Elliot.

"You can follow me in my car with your truck, the person working the next shift just arrived so I am free to go." she said.

"Sounds good." I said leading her to my truck to put Leigh and Elliot in.

I followed her car to a house that looked large. It was two stories and a huge driveway. I parked next to Catherine and got out she helped me bring in my stuff and led me upstairs. I put my stuff down in the room she directed me to. It had cream walls and a light blue comforter. It had a tv and a couch in front of windows that looked to the city. I thanked her and put Elliot and Leigh down on the bed soon passing out myself.
