The Encounter

On an ordinary day, a boy named Jokyr woke up in a town in the Philippines. Known for his carefree and humorous nature, Jokyr, who doesn't take things seriously, was celebrating his birthday. He had special plans to visit Japan and celebrate at his "Obasan's" (aunt's) house named Akari.

Jokyr had already packed his things and got ready for the trip. They headed to the airport, and after a five-hour flight, they arrived in Japan. It took an additional hour to reach his aunt's house, where Akari warmly greeted him upon arrival.

Before entering the house, Jokyr adhered to Japanese customs by taking off his shoes and unpacking his belongings. He and his aunt caught up on the events in Jokyr's life.

After their conversation, Akari began preparing food for Jokyr's birthday celebration. As night fell, everything was ready except for one crucial item – the cake. Akari instructed Jokyr to fetch the cake from a local store, and he promptly followed her order. Once Jokyr got the cake, the only task remaining was to return home.

However, on his way home, he encountered a woman with straight, long, black hair, pale skin, and a mask. The woman questioned him, "Am I beautiful? Yes, or no." Bewildered, Jokyr responded, "What? Who are you?" The woman repeated her question, and despite having no escape, Jokyr answered, "Average" and quickly ran away.

Upon reaching home, Jokyr immediately shared his encounter with Akari. His aunt, initially happy, changed to a worried and scared expression. Jokyr explained that the woman he met was "Kuchisake-onna," the slit-mouthed woman – a malicious spirit wearing a mask to conceal the scar on her mouth. Akari cautioned Jokyr to be careful around such spirits.

Taking it lightly, Jokyr joked, "Ha! I outsmarted her! That spirit should be careful of me next time, haha." The aunt laughed with a touch of worry, and they proceeded to celebrate Jokyr's birthday.
