The Light from Heaven

by Isabella Christel A. Bon

In the enchanting month of February, the air thick with love, Noah and Skylar embarked on a romantic journey to Ngurah Rai International Airport. Their love story took an unexpected turn when, upon reaching their hostel, they were welcomed not with the customary floral garlands but with ones made of garlic. Odd, cute, and silly, it set the tone for a trip filled with delightful surprises.

Undeterred, they explored the vibrant streets hand in hand, stumbling upon a stall that boasted the fame of its charcoal coffee. Defying the scorching weather, they ordered two cups. The judgmental gaze of the vendor, however, couldn't dampen their spirits. Unfazed by the world's disapproval of their same-gender relationship, they sipped their coffee, savoring each moment.

As they continued their stroll, they discovered a store selling vibrant hand-dyed "batik" cloth. Noah, with his charm, jokingly bargained with the lady seller, leading to an unexpected discount and free gifts. This act of kindness was a rare gem in a world that often misunderstood and disregarded their love.

Despite the mocking glances and judgmental eyes they faced, Noah and Skylar found solace in each other. Tears welled in Skylar's eyes, and gratitude poured from Noah's heart as they headed back to their hostel, strengthened by the unexpected kindness they encountered.

The following day brought a visit to the iconic Borobudur temple, where judgmental eyes lingered, threatening to cast a shadow on their love. Noah, seasoned in facing such scrutiny, reassured Skylar of the importance of their journey — a declaration that love knows no boundaries and deserves to be celebrated.

Amid the whispers and disapproving glances, Noah and Skylar found courage in each other's company, roaming the temple grounds, forging their own narrative. On the last day of their adventure, the couple ventured into the mystical depths of the Jomblang Cave.

Navigating the challenges of the cave, they emerged into a breathtaking chamber bathed in heavenly light. In a moment of silence, Noah knelt and presented a ring to Skylar. As she softly nodded, the onlookers' stares became irrelevant. The couple, unfazed by judgment or admiration, stood united under the celestial glow, capturing a moment of pure happiness.

In a final act of defiance, they raised their arms, and a photographer immortalized their love under the light from heaven. For Noah and Skylar, their love prevailed, and that was all that mattered.

Under the Heavenly Light, Love Triumphs.
