56. Trying to Save Mu Xiyue

Translator: Flying Lines

What the guards said relieved Jun Luotian a little. For the sake of the custom, Miao King wouldn’t force Mu Xiyue at least. “I have fifteen days to get Xiyue out,” he thought, “Luckily, such a weird custom buys me some time.”

Miao King, in his palace, was preparing his wedding. A grand wedding for Mu Xiyue. She would be his queen, after all. Such a beautiful girl like her must be his.

“Go tell them,” ordered Miao King, “My wedding must be absolutely grand! Make it as luxurious as possible, however much it may cost! I don’t care! I’m going to see my future queen. Go preparing for the wedding. If my queen is satisfied, I’ll reward you. Do you hear me?”

He was happy. So were his subordinates. They could be greatly rewarded. What a nice day!

“Aye, Your Majesty,” they replied.

Since Mu Xiyue was caught, she had been locked up in a nice room, while Yanzi and the secret guards were treated in a different way. They were shut away in a dark room, heavily guarded. Mu Xiyue, on the other hand, was taken good care of. She couldn’t move freely, though. Every now and then, Miao King sent her valuable jewels and delicious cuisines.

Mu Xiyue didn’t give a damn. Instead, she racked her brains to get out of this place. At every meal, she checked the dished carefully if there was poison in it before she had anything to eat.

Without enough strength, she couldn’t manage to run away.

“What is my queen doing?” asked Miao King, out of the door of Mu Xiyue’s room.

“For your information, Your Majesty,” replied the maid, “Her Majesty is staying in her room.”

“Okay. Open the door. I’m going to see her,” said Miao King.

Whenever he was free, he came to see Mu Xiyue. He really gave much thought to her.

“How do you feel living here?” asked Miao King with great concern.

“Let me go and I’ll be feeling good,” replied Mu Xiyue coldly, giving him a hard time.

“You’re going to be my queen,” said Miao King happily, “Don’t worry, haw-haw, I’ll give you a grand wedding.”

“I don’t want that,” said Mu Xiyue, “I just want to leave! And I will not like you or marry you.”

What she said annoyed Miao King. “Don’t push it!” said he, and off he went.

Left alone in the room, Mu Xiyue thought carefully about how she could break out.

Having worked day and night to solve the flood problem and settle down the refugees, Long Yinfeng finally started his journey to Miao Region. It was slow, though. After all, his legs just recovered and he couldn’t stand a long-time walk or trip.

“Your Highness, don’t worry,” said Mo Heng, “You can’t do strenuous exercise because of your legs.”

Mo Heng couldn’t help worrying about Long Yinfeng’s legs, when there was such a long way to go.

“It’s okay,” replied Long Yinfeng, “I know what I can do. My legs have been better. I’m okay with the trip.”

Right at this moment, he thought of nothing else, except finding Mu Xiyue sooner.

In Miao King’s palace, since Yanzi was caught, she had been locked up in a dark room where she couldn’t even see the sun. Fear and concern filled her, not for the secret guards, but for Mu Xiyue. She didn’t know how much time had passed by, and so far she hadn’t heard anything from Mu Xiyue yet.

She was as restless as ants on a hot pan, feeling terrible. She wondered if Miao King had hurt Mu Xiyue and if Mu Xiyue was still alive. Oh, suddenly, something occurred to her. Before she left the capital city, her master Long Yinfeng gave her a signal flare and asked her to send it up in case of any danger.

“Hmm, if I send up the signal flare, there might be hope,” she thought, “But I’m tied up. How can I send it up?”

She thought it over, and had a sudden idea. Out she shouted, “Anybody? Anybody out there?”

“What do you want?” asked a guard impatiently, “Don’t ask for trouble.”

“Well, you know what? I’m in urine emergency,” said Yanzi, with a flattering smile, “May I go to the bathroom?”

The guard didn’t reply.

“Look, my master is going to be the queen. How dare you treat me so rudely? I’m her personal maid. You’ll get punished!” Yanzi threatened.

“All right, then. Come back early,” replied the guard, and he walked Yanzi to the bathroom. He guarded at the door and let Yanzi in. Within seconds, Yanzi sent up the signal flare secretly which was specially made.

Long Yinfeng saw it on his way to Miao Region! The special signal flare was a warning to him that Mu Xiyue must be in danger. His heart was burning with anxiety!

“Mo Heng, hurry up. We must be faster!” ordered Long Yinfeng, lost in confusion.

“Your Highness, take it easy. We must calm down. Your legs don’t allow you to hurry with the trip, or you’ll get hurt again,” said Mo Heng, trying to persuade Long Yinfeng.

Mo Heng, as a matter of fact, worried about Mu Xiyue and Yanzi, too. But he must restrain his concern, or Long Yinfeng would be more anxious.

“If Xiyue has been hurt before I arrive, I won’t forgive myself,” said Long Yinfeng, “You know, she went to Miao Region for me.”

He couldn’t stop worrying about her.

“Think about it, Your Highness,” explained Mo Heng, “Yanzi has great marital arts. And four secret guards follow them. There won’t be any problem. But if you get hurt again, you’ll be giving more hindrance.”

“You make some sense,” said Long Yinfeng, “I shouldn’t make any trouble for Xiyue. We’ll continue our trip as planned.”

Long Yinfeng thought it over, and realized that Mo Heng was right. If he was hurt, no one else could help Xiyue.

“Mo Heng,” he continued, “Ask South Fort to come and save Xiyue.”

South Fort was a very secret organization, built and trained by Long Yinfeng alone. It was also his stealth force. Long Yinfeng would never use them, unless he had to.

“Are you sure, Your Highness?” asked Mo Heng, speechless, “We can’t expose this force unless we have to. We mustn’t let anyone to know South Fort or let anyone know it works for you. South Fort always takes fast action, and people in it are extremely violent.”

He wanted to stop Long Yinfeng from using the secret force.

“We have to do it now,” explained Long Yinfeng, “I know it does harm to me when South Fort is exposed. But Xiyue was worth the risk.”

Long Yinfeng was too anxious to consider further. He would do anything to help Xiyue, at whatever cost.

“Your Highness, it’s not the perfect timing to use South Fort,” continued Mo Heng, still trying to persuade his master, “If people get to know such a secret and powerful organization, you might be exposed, too. Please think carefully about it.”

“Don’t try to stop me,” replied Long Yinfeng firmly, “I’ve made up my mind, and I’ll bear all the consequences, as long as Xiyue’s fine.”

Mu Xiyue, however, didn’t know Long Yinfeng was already on his way to Miao Region.

“If I can’t get away, what will Yinfeng do?” she thought, “I’d rather die than marry such a barbaric king! And I don’t know what he has done to Yanzi and the secret guards.”

Miao King still came to visit Mu Xiyue, whenever he had spare time.

“Have you made up your mind?” asked the king persistently, “If you marry me, you’ll get whatever you want. What makes you still resist?”

“You want me to marry you?” replied Mu Xiyue firmly, “In your dream! I’m never going to marry you.”

“Fine, stay here and keep thinking about it,” said Miao King, who was ready to go and come back tomorrow.

“Stop!” yelled Mu Xiyue, “Where are you keeping my friends?”

To her, Yanzi was already a friend, instead of a simple subordinate. She witnessed how much Yanzi cared for her.

“Humph, if you don’t marry me, I will kill her!” said the king, “Take your time and think carefully about it.”

Killing Yanzi could be as simple as crushing an ant. In case she might infuriate Miao King and he might kill Yanzi in a fit of anger, Mu Xiyue sat quietly in the chair, without arguing any longer.

Seeing her sitting obediently, Miao Region thought Mu Xiyue changed her mind and no longer hated him. He then left, in a good mood.

Yanzi was relieved after she sent up the signal flare. At least, her master knew they were in danger and he could send guys to help.

“Hope Prince Yinfeng can come before Her Highness marries Miao King.” she thought.

Jun Luotian felt like he had ants in his pants! Every day, he asked around about Mu Xiyue, trying to get her out. Nevertheless, he got no ideas at all. The wedding day ticked nearer, but he still found no solution. “Will I just wait and see her marrying the king?” he thought, “Certainly not!”

When he knew Mu Xiyue was in danger, he realized that he had fallen in love with her. He knew Mu Xiyue married Long Yinfeng. But they got married, only under the command of the emperor. Maybe, Mu Xiyue didn’t love her husband.

“I must get her out,” he swore to himself, “And I’m sure I will touch her someday.”

“Your Highness, I’ve told South Forth to take action,” reported Mo Heng. To his surprise, Long Yinfeng used such a secret force for Mu Xiyue. And in the meantime, he got to confirm how much his master cared for his wife.

57. Safe in Miao King’s Palace

Under Long Yinfeng’s command, Mo Heng asked people from South Fort to come and save Mu Xiyue, though he didn’t think it was a wise move. He realized the importance of Mu Xiyue. And also, he treated Mu Xiyue as his master. She risked her own life, going to Miao Region to find the antidote for Long Yinfeng. Mo Heng didn’t say anything, but he admired her.

Miao King was a cruel and fierce man, but he was gentle to Mu Xiyue, listening to her and doing anything she wished.

Before Mu Xiyue and Jun Luotian arrived in Miao Region, they healed many villagers in the town on their way. Words went about, and soon everyone in Miao Region knew about two miracle-working doctors. One was as beautiful as a fairy and the other was handsome.

A guard heard of that, too. He was sure that the beautiful doctor must be their future queen. So, he decided to tell Miao King about In return, he might get awarded. The king, anyway, had been in a cheery mood lately.

“Your Majesty, I have something to tell you,” he came and reported.

“Oh, what is it?” asked Miao King.

“Our future queen is known as a miracle-working doctor,” said the guard proudly.

“Oh, doctor?” said Miao King, “Be specific.”

Obviously, he was very interested.

“In a town out of our region, villagers had some disease and they were badly ill,” explained the guard with pride, “Many doctors failed to cure them. And the disease was highly contagious. It took our queen, however, only seven days to cure them. Before she left, she even gave them much medicine and simple prescriptions.”

“Oh, she did? Sounds like my queen is a great woman! She’s gorgeous, capable and so kind.”

What the guard said pleased Miao Region a lot, and more he admired Mu Xiyue.

“Sure,” the guard kept flattering Mu Xiyue, “People say that our queen is a fairy coming from the heaven. She makes a perfect couple with you, Your Majesty.”

“Good point! Go get your reward!” said Miao Region gladly. His queen was so popular, and that made him proud.

He decided to see Mu Xiyue. What she did gave a great impression on him. The affection for her even grew!

“Has my queen had lunch?” Miao King asked seriously, “Are you taking good care of her?”

“Yes, Your Majesty,” replied the maid at the door, “We’ve been taking care of Her Majesty as you ordered.”

“Fine, then. Okay the door and let me in.”

Miao King walked in and gently he said, “Xiyue, the preparation is ongoing. And our wedding day is coming soon. Why don’t you get ready for that?”

Mu Xiyue didn’t know how to argue back. Anyway, she was caught while the king had strong forces. Not seeing Yanzi or Jun Luotian kept her worried and anxious. She had no choice, but to show weakness to the king, so that she could stall for time and keep Yanzi safe.

“Look, Your Majesty,” said Mu Xiyue tentatively, “No personal maid takes care of me. It’s not convenient. Could I have a personal maid?”

“Oh, sure. I can get you one, as long as it makes you happy,” replied Miao King, realizing she wasn’t overly demanding.

“Well, you caught my personal maid. Why don’t you release her? I’m used to having her look after me. She knows my living habits. What do you think?” asked Mu Xiyue.

She wanted Yanzi to stay with her. It would relieve her, and they could take care of each other.

It took Miao King a few minutes to think about her request. “If I give her the maid, will they try to run away together?” he thought, “With the maid as my hostage, I think Xiyue won’t escape alone. That maid has marital arts, too. That worries me.”

“How about finding you another maid?” replied he finally, “A better one.”

“Humph, you don’t even satisfy such a small demand!” said Mu Xiyue angrily, “Why can you say you care for me?”

Mu Xiyue goaded Miao King by sarcasm, so that he might agree to send Yanzi back. The latter, however, struggled if he could release Yanzi. Also, he didn’t want to make Mu Xiyue angry. At last, he compromised.

“All right, then,” he said, “I’ll bring her back to you.”

“Somebody,” he then ordered a guard, “Go get the personal queen to my queen.’

Within a couple of minutes, Yanzi was brought into the room. In order not to expose Mu Xiyue’s identity, Yanzi called her Miss Xiyue instead.

“Miss Xiyue, are you all right?” asked Yanzi, with concern.

“I’m fine,” replied Mu Xiyue, “What about you? Did they hurt you?”

Mu Xiyue walked up and check if Yanzi was wounded.

“It’s okay. Just flesh wound,” replied Yanzi with a smile. She was touched when Mu Xiyue cared so much for her.

“Flesh wound?” shouted Mu Xiyue, “They tortured you?!”

The wound on Yanzi enraged Mu Xiyue, and she lost her temper on Miao King!

“Is this how you treated my personal maid?” yelled she angrily, “Look! How dared you torture her!”

She almost exploded!

“I don’t know, dear,” replied Miao King, as gentle as he could be, “I will punish those guys who tortured your maid.”

“That’s fine, then,” replied Mu Xiyue grumpily, “I’m tired and I’m going to sleep. Why don’t you leave us?”

The moment Miao King shuffled away, Mu Xiyue started the chat with Yanzi.

“Your Highness, are you all right?” asked Yanzi anxiously, in fear that Miao King had hurt Mu Xiyue.

“Don’t worry. I’m fine,” replied Mu Xiyue, “We still have some time, but not too much. Miao King is preparing the wedding, asking me to marry him. In a couple of days, I believe.”

She simply explained what was going on.

“I think we’ll make it,” said Yanzi, “Prince Yinfeng gave me a special signal flare before we left and asked me to send it up in case of danger. I did it secretly. I think His Highness has seen that. He will try to save us. Yet I’m not sure if he can come in time.”

Mu Xiyue was surprised to know Long Yinfeng gave Yanzi the signal flare before they left. His consideration also touched her.

“We will get out,” said Mu Xiyue, “Jun Luotian is still out there. I wonder if he’s doing okay.”

“Maybe he has run away in fear,” said Yanzi. She didn’t like Jun Luotian anyway. She thought he must have gone instead of trying to save them.

Yanzi had been worrying about Mu Xiyue. Her safety relieved Yanzi at last. But still, she hated such barbaric people in Miao Region.

58. Risked His Life For Mu Xiyue

Translator: Flying Lines

“No, Yanzi,” said Mu Xiyue, “Luotian is my good friend. He won’t run away. He’ll think of a way to get us out. I believe him!”

In Mu Xiyue’s heart, Jun Luotian was a loyal and responsible friend.

“Hope so,” replied Yanzi, and sure, she didn’t believe Jun Luotian would come to save them.

It proved that Mu Xiyue was right. Jun Luotian wasn’t caught, and every day he racked his brains, trying to get them out. He would rather be locked up instead of Mu Xiyue. More days later, there wasn’t any clue. In this place, Jun Luotian was a total stranger and all alone. No one else could help with his plan, if any.

The anxiety almost burned him, worrying if Mu Xiyue was bullied. The preparation for the wedding was going smoothly, which provoked much discussion among local people. Jun Luotian suffered greatly in his mind.

“Forget it!” he said to himself, “Even if I’m all alone, I will get Xiyue out!”

He had a sudden idea. First, he paid a high price to get a map of Miao King’s palace. Well, the only plan he could think of was to break into Miao King’s palace in the middle of night. Sink or swim, anyway. “I must get Xiyue out, even if I have to die for it!” He had made up his mind.

Later, he bought some knockout drops, night robe and all the tools required for his plan. Everything was ready, and off he waited until it got dark. There was no guarantee at all, but he knew he had to do it!

Slowly it was getting dark, and off he set.

With the help of the map, he found a quiet corner where the wall was also short. With only a slight effort, he climbed over the wall and got into the palace. He took every step quietly and cautiously. The palace was heavily guarded where many guarding soldiers went on patrol duty. As the wedding was coming soon, Miao King was very careful with safety in case of any trouble.

Jun Luotian moved watchfully, looking for Mu Xiyue. This palace was too big for him to find the target because he didn’t know where she was exactly kept. He had to look everywhere slowly.

Just then, the patrol dog smelled him and howled crazily! Jun Luotian had to hide himself in the grass. Suddenly, he remembered he had the knockout drops, and he could knock the dog out with them. Unfortunately, before he even made his way to the dog, the patrolling guards found him and rushed over! For a split second, Jun Luotian was besieged. He fought desperately, yet he wasn’t strong enough to defeat so many guards. Soon, he was captured.

The head of the guards went to see Miao King immediately. “Your Majesty, I’ve got something important to tell you,” said he hurriedly.

“What is it?” asked the king idly.

“A man broke into our palace. We’ve captured him. How do you think we should deal with him, Your Majesty?” explained the guard honestly.

“What?” Miao King hissed, “Who dared to break into my place in the middle of night! He’s seeking his doom! Bring him to me!”

Miao King wanted to know why someone broke in, and soon, Jun Luotian was taken to the hall.

“Why did you break into my palace?” the king thundered! “And who are you?”

Just then, another guard said, “Your Majesty, I know him! He’s the man with our queen, who saved the villagers. I think he broke in to take Her Majesty away.”

He sounded so proud as if he had seen through Jun Luotian’s plan.

“How dare you!” snarled Miao King. Knowing Jun Luotian wanted to take away Mu Xiyue, he went scarlet, and he roared, “Want to take away my queen? You’re seeking your doom, young man. On my command, take him away and butcher him after our wedding!”

“Aye, Your Majesty,” replied the guard.

Hmm... Instead of getting Mu Xiyue out, Jun Luotian got himself in. “How can I help Xiyue?” thought Jun Luotian, even when he was imprisoned
