Long Yichen stood still and glared at Mu Xiyue in a fit of anger!

He looked back and just saw the envoys from Western Shu standing a little distance from him who came for the second feast. The envoys were discussing in a low voice, hands covering their mouths faintly. Obviously, they heard what Mu Xiyue just said.

Long Yichen frowned, raised his eyelids and kept his mouth slightly open. His face was like a tortured clock, which showed that his anger came to a boil.

It took few minutes before the empress heard of it. She was cross and immediately she asked to see Long Yichen at the feast.

Long Yichen could no longer hold down his anger in front of the empress, and he complained, “Mother, you must teach Mu Xiyue a lesson! She slandered me in front of so many guys! Even the envoys heard her! I’m so disgraced! You must avenge me!”

He gnashed his teeth and complained with resentment.

The empress was angry, too. Not for what Mu Xiyue said, but for the envoys heard that. Such words were a real disgrace to the nation! She still remembered how Mu Xiyue impressed the envoys at the first feast. “Why don’t I ask my son to take the blame this time? He’s my birth son and there won’t be trouble.” she thought.

She then said to Long Yichen, “It’s your fault. Recently, I’ve heard people talking about Mu Xiyue’s past. But today, so many people saw her virginity nevus. So, she isn’t as bad as you claimed her to be. So much for the scandal! I don’t want to hear any gossip about Prince Yinfeng or Mu Xiyue again. Or I’ll punish you myself.”

Long Yichen flew into a rage with shame. His own mother didn’t defend him, but scolded him? What the hell? He argued, “Mother, but...”

The empress stopped him before he finished. Her piercing eyes burnt into him, and she warned, “Don’t you feel ashamed in front of so many guys? You did it in a wrong way. Hope you’ll remember this lesson and make no more mistake. If you do that again, you must take the blame for whatever you’ve done. You can’t get away easily like you do today.”

Long Yichen was so angry that he still tried to confute. But his mother’s sharp and piercing eyes scared him. He didn’t dare argue. He restrained his anger and sat down, though he wasn’t convinced at all.

Long Yinfeng was sitting there, keeping silent. His heart, however, was rolling with strong emotions.

He noticed what Mu Xiyue had been suffering these days. She endured without protest, and that made Long Yinfeng’s heart ache. Long Yichen was going too far! Long Yinfeng was too angry to restrain himself. He made up his mind to teach Long Yichen a lesson.

Clenching his fists, Long Yinfeng struggled to stand up, but Mu Xiyue held him down!

She realized what he wanted to do. Nothing changed on Long Yinfeng’s face, but she knew he was going avenge her!

Mu Xiyue lowered her head and whispered to Long Yinfeng, “Don’t do that. People are around and you’ll easily get criticized. Don’t behave rashly in front of His Majesty. If you do, he’ll think lightly of you or even punish you. You don’t need to defend me. I fought back already and the empress warned Long Yichen. He won’t mess up with me again!”

What she explained convinced Long Yinfeng. He was still choked with resentment, though. He had no choice, but to respect Mu Xiyue and contain himself. He nodded and patted gently on her leg.

“They dare to humiliate Mu Xiyue, just because I had the leg problem,” He thought to himself, “With such problem, I don’t like to bother about what happens around. Then they think I’m powerless and that I’m a prince in name only. Mu Xiyue was disgraced so much, just because of me. I’ll no longer bear it and no one can ever hurt her again!”

Depression pervaded the hall because of the previous argument between Mu Xiyue and Long Yichen. People glanced at Mu Xiyue, though they pretended they didn’t, and whispered to whoever sat beside them.

Their glance made Mu Xiyue uncomfortable and embarrassed. She no longer wanted to stay for the feast. All she wanted was some fresh air.

She leaned over and whispered to Long Yinfeng, “I want some fresh idea.”

Long Yinfeng replied immediately, “Okay. I’ll go with you. I don’t want to stay, either.”

Mu Xiyue shook her head and replied, “No. I’ll go alone and you shall stay. You’re the eldest prince. You should be here, for the envoys at least. If you leave, they may think we aren’t inattentive to them. People may have prejudice against you and His Majesty will be annoyed.”

Mu Xiyue made some sense, but Long Yinfeng still worried about her if she went alone. He took up her hand and said lovingly, “But I’m worried if you go alone. If you’re in trouble, I...”

“Come on! What trouble could I have? I’m just going for some fresh air and I won’t get lost. Besides, I’m your wife. Who dares to mess up with me? Don’t worry and just stay. I’ll be right back.”

“Fine, then,” replied Long Yinfeng, and he patted her hand with loving eyes, “Be careful and come back soon.”

Mu Xiyue nodded and sneaked out through the back door.

Long Yichen saw that and gave a sinister smile. He stood up and told his parents that he didn’t feel well, possibly because he drank too much and that he wanted to leave for some fresh air.

Seeing other princes present, the empress allowed Long Yichen to leave, but urged him to return soon.

As Long Yichen walked up, he smiled in a better mood. He thought it was a golden opportunity to take revenge on Mu Xiyue. Once Mu Xiyue made a fool of herself, he would feel avenged. Thinking how to trick Mu Xiyue, Long Yichen walked out of the hall and broke into a sprint.
