Daryl finally tells Maggie the truth about his relationship with Negan because he fears she won't let Negan return home after their quest to bring food back to their people. Takes place season 11 ep 1-2 ish

"Maggie stop it!" Daryl yelled.

She stopped dead in her tracks. "What did you just say to me?"

"I said stop it. That's enough."

Daryl had hidden his relationship with Negan from her. He hated seeing his lover and someone he sees as a sister fighting and at one another's throats.

"You're siding with him?"

"You haven't been here for years Maggie, you know nothing of what Negan is now."

Gabriel and Alden watched knowing very well why he was reacting like this. Everyone but Maggie knew about Daryl and Negan, even her own son knew and she didn't. The kids knew them as uncle Daryl and Negan.

"Why would you side with a man who killed our friends, tortured you, locked you up like a dog?"

"Maggie do you really know what Negan did to me or do you just think you know? Did you ask? Did you ever ask me what it was like?" Daryl asked watching her his jaw locked Negan was standing behind him.

"Rick said you were locked up, that you had been tortured."

"Rick didn't know shit." Daryl snarled.

"What did he do to you then? What did you do to Daryl?"

"Why do you care now?" Negan asked pulling Daryl closer to him, Dog prowling beside them.

"What did you do to him?"

"I never tortured him, might have scared him some but I never tortured him. Every touch was consensual, actual consent. Yeah I locked him up, kept him..kept him naked because I liked the view."

"Every touch?!" Maggie asked seeing Negan's hand on Daryl's shoulder. "What the fuck does that mean?"

"Negan..Negan and I have been dating since before you left." Daryl stated flatly. Maggie staggered.

"What?! You're sleeping with the enemy!"

"He isn't the enemy, these people are as much his as yours. The people of Alexandria are more his than yours. You haven't been here in years, you haven't seen the things he's done to save them."

"He killed people Daryl!"

"We killed people too Maggie. We killed his people, some of which were good to me. Maggie, Negan is good."

"He killed Glenn."

"If you should be mad at anyone about that, it should be me!" Daryl snapped back at her. "If I hadn't punched Negan Glenn would be here today. You and I both know that, both of us do."

"How could you love a monster?"

"He's not a monster, we have all done terrible things Maggie. You haven't fucking been here Maggie, you just haven't. You don't know what he's done for us. What he's done for me."

"He kidnapped you and killed our family."

"He's also saved my life more times than I can count on one hand. The kids love him, everyone looks to him as a leader of our community now. He killed Alpha, saved me from their people. Saved me when I was at my lowest after..after Rick died. I tried to kill myself Maggie, I spent months out looking for a ghost. I nearly froze to death, Judith nearly froze to death and he saved her life. He saved both of us. He saved her and then came looking for me. You gave up and left your family, he stayed and rebuilt it."

"Now Alexandria and Hilltop are starving."

"And I'm out here to fix that even though I know damn well the only reason you wanted me here was so you could kill me. Thought no one would care if I came back alive."

Maggie stared at him. "You knew I had planned to do that and you still came?"

"I wasn't letting Daryl go without me, and I love the people of Alexandria and Hilltop. I would do anything to make sure they didn't starve or die. I'd put my life on the line for them. I have put my life on the line for them."

"You killed my husband!"

"And I'm sorry Maggie, hell I am sorry. I honestly am. Rick forgave me why can't you? Daryl and I are together and have been for a long time and we have kept it from you because I didn't want you to hate him because of me."

"I was going to tell you but Negan told me not to."

"You just do whatever he says?" Maggie growled.

"That's enough Maggie." Gabriel finally said. "Honestly you can't turn everyone you love away because of one person. So many people we have loved and cared for have died and some of their killers may still be out there and yet you seem to have no hate in your soul for them. Daryl has done so much for you and you have no reason to turn your back on him now."

"Maggie I'm here with you to get food for our people." Negan said pulling Daryl closer. "I am out here following you, making suggestions you ignore that are smarter but you're stubborn and just because I'm saying it you won't listen. I'm here for our people, for Daryl. For the future of our communities. If it weren't for me Hilltop would be gone too."

Maggie snarled. "Keep your dog on a leash then Daryl." She pushed past them. Daryl snapped his head up.

"He's not a dog Maggie."

"I don't care what he is, he's not my friend. My people are not his people. I am doing this for our family, he's not included in that."

"We walk then." Daryl said immediately. "Negan and I go back and will look for food other places, if you can't play nice and I don't know if you'll slit my boyfriends throat in the middle of the night I won't go, I can hunt and find other stuff for our people. I'm not letting Judith and RJ starve, not going to let my daughter starve either. Sure as hell not going to let your son starve, or Aaron's girl. Or CoCo, or Jerry's kids. I'm not to let you kill Negan, I can't raise all those kids on my own. Lydia is my girl, and while Michonne is gone RJ, and Judith are my responsibility."

Maggie stopped dead. "You'd leave me and go with him?"

"You left our family and took your son into a wasteland of nothing. The two of you could have died Maggie, I worried everyday about you. About him."

"So you're going to go?"

"Will you kill Negan if we stay?"

"I can't promise I won't if he keeps pissing me off."

Dog barked and raced under the train. "Fuck Dog! Play fucking nice you two!"

Negan nodded letting Daryl go kissing his forehead quickly glad he didn't have to hide his love for Daryl anymore. "Look Maggie. I'm not going to fuck around the bush. I'm here for Daryl, and the people of Hilltop and Alexandria. I'm playing nice so I hope you will too."

Maggie eyed him.

"I'll think about it."

Alden and Gabriel shook their heads, they just prayed by the time they met back up with Daryl they wouldn't have to tell him Maggie didn't play nice.

Daryl climbed under the train, he had to find his dog. Walkers appeared and pushed Maggie and the group forward. Negan climbed up the stairs first, he extended his hand to her as she about fell from the railing.

She followed him quickly.

"Why didn't you just let me fall?"

"You're Daryl's sister, I'm not going to just let you die because I'm nervous you're going to stab me in the back."

Maggie took a deep breath, she didn't trust him, but she cared about Daryl. She would play nice for now.
