"Compromise. It's something that's kinda in-between. It's like half way happy. " Hopper Season 2.

----

Eddie watched Billy as he paced. "Are you alright?"

"Fine Ed, honestly."

Eddie frowned. "Billy, I know you, and you're clearly not alright." Billy turned to look back at Eddie who stood up and looked him over. "Sit down, let's talk about this."

Billy slowly sat down, his hands were shaking, he was clearly having trouble with something. "Eddie I'm fine," he laid back in the beanbag Eddie forced him into. "Honestly Eddie."

"You look like you're looking for a high, but I know you're not, at least not right now. Look, come with me tonight and we can go see a late night movie after."

Billy rolled his eyes. "I don't want to go to your nerd party."

"Hell-fire Club." Billy corrected him. "Compromise with me, instead of a movie we can go do something you want to alright?"

"Burgers, and the arcade." Billy said quickly looking him over with a half cocked smile. "But I ain't playing with your dice."

"You don't have to, you can be my helper tonight though, keep me honest."

Billy snorted. "Honest in dragons and dungeons?"

Eddie gasped, stabbing his heart with an imaginary knife. "As my boyfriend I thought I had at least taught you the proper term for the game that is my life. Dungeons and Dragons. Dungeons and Dragons. Not Dragon's first, no no my pool saving love, it is Dungeon's first then dragons."

"I'm a life guard, not a pool saver. I save the people in the pool, my nerd, not the pool."

Eddie smirked. "Then we are both wrong aren't we?"

Billy only nodded. "Fine, I'll come to keep you honest, in your game Dungeons and Dragons." He made sure to emphasize each word carefully. "Then we get to go get burgers. And go to the arcade. Got me?"

"I promise, cross my heart."

Billy bit his lip before he leaned up and kissed Eddie softly. Eddie's eyes closed quickly, happily taking the kiss.Billy muttered softly before pulling away. "Burgers and Arcade. Promise me dungeon master, burgers and arcade."

"I promise you, I swear, I will be taking you out for burgers, a milkshake we share, and then the arcade." Eddie leaned forward and kissed him once more. "But before we go anywhere. I need you to tell me what's wrong."

Billy frowned slightly but then nodded knowing very well he should be honest with his boyfriend. "Just my dad again.. You know how he is.. Worry about Max. Even when I act like a dick with her it's to toughern her up. I'm glad she's friends with those kids you know. I just worry when we both go home for the night things get worse. She's staying over with Jane at Hoppers tonight.. And I was hoping maybe we could stay out too?"

"You want to stay at my house tonight?"

"Would you be okay with it? It was either that or I sleep in my car."

"Damn it Billy, no, you're staying at my house. First my players are going up against some monsters and then we are going out, got me?"

Billy nodded trying not to hide his smile as he kissed him back once more. Eddie smiled as he helped Billy up off the beanbag and took him to his car. Billy leaned back in the seat watching himself in the rearview mirror.

Eddie looked him over with a smile grabbing his hand tightly in his own. "Look, no matter what happens you've always got a place with me."

Billy blushed. "Thank you."

Eddie couldn't help but smile at him, he loved when Billy showed his softer side. It was everything to him. They soon arrived at the highschool for Hell-Fire Club. "I got something for you to wear, since you're here."

Billy raised an eyebrow. "I am not wearing one of your t-shirts."

"No, no you are. Come on a compromise Billy."

"You just want me to take my shirt off."

"I mean I can't lie, it's great to see." Eddie teased. Billy smirked and took his top off leaving it off longer than he needed to just for his boyfriend to get a glimpse before he pulled the Hell-Fire T over his head.

"Happy now?" Billy asked with a grin.

Eddie grinned leaning over quickly kissing his cheek. "Very, now come on. You can carry my dice, it's a very important job." Billy smirked, he held the large bag of dice and followed Eddie into the gaming room.

Billy sat beside Eddie behind the DM screen. Billy could see Max's friends joining the group when they got to highschool, he couldn't help but smile. He had grown attached to them after a while.

Eddie was full of life as he DMed, and honestly Billy couldn't help but join in the excitement and terror of the players as Eddie described the creatures they were to battle. When one of the players rolled a nat 20 Billy actually cheered for them. Eddie couldn't hide the smile that covered his face as Billy pushed on his shoulder as his encounter was surpassed by the players.

Once the session was complete and the players were left satisfied but on a cliffhanger they packed up. "You had fun," Eddie smirked as he handed him a D20. The D20 was red with golden flecks inside and golden paint over the numbers. "That one's yours."

Billy rolled it between his fingers. "Thank you Eddie."

Eddie only nodded seeing Billy place it in his pocket. "Burgers and the arcade then?"

"Yeah, I'd like that."

"Was it an okay compromise?" Eddie asked as he opened the door for him.

Billy nodded. "Was better than I expected, and I'll be keeping the T-shirt on."

"Good, I hoped so." Eddie smirked, closing the door and getting in the driver's seat. "Come on burgers and games. Maybe we can beat one of your sister's scores."

Billy scoffed. "She's the best little gamer I've ever seen. Don't think we would ever beat her."

"I bet you we will, even just one." Eddie smiled as they pulled up to the burger spot. Eddie opened the door for him helping him out, they didn't hold hands, but they were so close to one another they could have been. Eddie ordered them both burgers, a tray of fries, and because they were alone, minus the chef, a chocolate milkshake for them to share. Billy couldn't help but be entirely happy with the situation.

This felt right to them.

The two talked and smiled, enjoying one another's company. Once they finished their dinner they walked back to the car ready for some arcade games. When they arrived at the arcade it was still buzzing with kids and teens, Billy didn't remove the Hell-Fire Club T-shirt. He was proud to call Eddie his boyfriend even if it was safer to hide it.

They smiled and began to play arcade game after arcade game. They broke most of the records all but any Max had broken. Every time they played the games they were second or third place, they decided on their gamer ID together.

Luv20

It was easy to hide their identity this way, but they could also tag the arcade with their relationship.

They went to play DigDug, Billy played while Eddie backseat ordered moves. As their score came up their eyes grew wide seeing they had actually beat her score. "We did it, Billy we did it!"

Billy pulled Eddie close behind the security of the DigDug machine, he kissed him quickly before pushing him softly so they were no longer close. Eddie's face grew deep red as Billy typed in their gamer tag.

"She's gonna flip," Billy smirked, "really she's gonna lose it."

"She won't see what hit her." Eddie smirked as they finished up their last arcade game. Eddie took him back to the car. "So.. so my place?"

"If that's still okay."

"Roll the dice in your pocket Billy." Eddie smirked.

Billy raised an eyebrow but did as he was told. He tossed the D20 in the cupholder.

"Well shit, I should have you come play with us sometime, if you will." Eddie smirked as he watched the die roll and land nat. "Yeah, you're coming home with me."

Billy picked up the die and rolled it between his fingers once again. He grabbed some wire that was hanging around the car and began to wrap the dice in it, he then put the cage he made around the dice on the empty chain he had around his neck.

Eddie couldn't help but smile seeing the D20 around his neck. "Yeah, I think tonight was a great compromise."

Billy nodded, leaning over and kissing him once more, he could get used to this.
