Today, happened to be your wedding anniversary. Wanting to surprise Lena, you made sure to cancel all your meetings and head out to the grocery store as she left for work. But not before dropping off Lauren at your sister's place so you could have the entire day uninterrupted to set up the surprise for Lena.

Since you practically had no clue how to cook, you enlisted the help of Kelly and Alex for the food while you and Kara set up the house for the romantic evening. They were all cracking jokes over how overly romantic it was and you laughed along with them. It was true, you were going overboard on the romantic part but you didn't care. Your anniversary was always special.

By the time it hit, 6:00 PM, you thanked them for helping and sent them on their way so you could get ready for the date.

You knew Lena, wouldn't be home until 7:00 PM so you took a quick shower, styled your hair, did your makeup and put on one of her favorite dresses all before it hit 7. As the minutes passed by, you were slowly getting upset. Lena hadn't called or texted you anything. Not even left a note when she left to the officer earlier than usual. You had brushed it off in the morning as you thought that she was just in a hurry but the day was almost over and there was still no sign of her.

Waiting almost 30 minutes for her to come home, you realized that she might've lost track off time. Dialing her number, you waited for her to answer, only for it to go straight to voicemail. You dialed again, hoping she must have missed the call but that one also went to voicemail. Lena had always answered your calls and it worried you that she wasn't answering. You had sent a message to Jess to ask about Lena and got a reply soon after that she had sent her home and had no idea when she would finish or what she was even doing.

With no way of knowing when she was coming home, you decided to sit at the table and wait for her. You waited and waited until eventually, you ended up falling asleep at the table.

Lena ended up arriving back to the house, exhausted. All she wanted was to lay down and go to bed. She gasped loudly as she took notice of everything the you had done. She knew that she had fucked up.

"(Y/n), Honey. I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were waiting for me."

You bit your lip hard. Lena didn't even realize that it had been your anniversary. She never forgot.

"It's okay"

You stood up and and began to clean up the cold food. Simply tossing it in the trash.

"It's already too later and I don't think you'll want to eat a cold steak."

You finished cleaning up and headed to your shared bedroom to change into your pajamas.

"Happy Anniversary, Lena. I love you."

Lena felt guilty.

"Wait, (Y/n). Let me make it up to you."

She hurried up to catch up to you, gently pulling on your hand to turn you around.

"It's late, Lena. I'm tired and I just want to go to sleep."

You pulled your hand back towards you and headed to the bathroom to change, something you haven't done in years.

Lena tried getting you to leave the bathroom but you just ignored her. Finally letting the tears fall after holding them in front of her.

Lena knew that she had really fucked up. You ended up falling asleep in the bathtub while Lena ended up falling asleep beside the door.
