Safia's POV

I have never felt like this before. I was hurt by the things Brody said. Who wouldn't be? I was still human after all.

How can a person go from 'I love you' to 'you were a mistake' in just a few months?

Something was wrong, everytime he pushed me away he had a good reason.

Anyway, it was time for me to leave him alone and that's what I did.

For weeks I ignored him but saw everything he did. Even though we didn't speak, I still payed attention on every move he made.

He was with girls all day long and I heard that he was failing for alot of classes and on top of that, he went out every evening.

It was Friday today and we had a week off to prepare for our exams. I don't think I would be able to study as Brody was the only person I could think about.

My mom and brother asked me a few times if something was wrong, but what could I say?

"Yeah mom Amin, Brody is ignoring me since we've kissed." You and I both know what will happen next.

I was at my locker collecting every book I need to study and Malik and Amina were doing the same.

"Still heard nothing from Brody?" Malik asked me when he was done.

"Why would he, he made himself clear that I was a mistake." I responded closing my locker with power.

"Yeah but.."

"No Malik, just drop it." I interrupted him.

Malik has been really interested in mine and Brody's life. I felt that he was hiding something, like he knew why Brody was acting like this. I needed to figure out what was happening before it was too late.

Malik was tapping away on his phone whilst I was figuring out what my first move would be if I wanna know everything that was going on.

"Malik, can I use your phone to text my brother so he can pick me up? I don't have any credit on my phone anymore."

I know what I'm about to do is not acceptable, but if nobody wants to tell me what the hell was going on, then I'll have to do it my way.

"I can take you home." Malik offered.

"No thank you, I'll rather let Amin pick me up."

"Sure, here you go."

"Are you okay Safia? You've been down since Brody said you were a mistake." Amina asked.

I'm sick of people asking me how I was.

"I'm fine Amina." I said whilst pretending to text Amin.

I opened up a conversation between Malik and Brody and scrolled up until I was at the beginning of their conversation.

I was reading every message until I had read the entire conversation.

And I was right the entire time, something was indeed going on. And Malik knew about it all this time.

"No this can't be true." I said in denial.

This can't be happening.

"What's wrong?" Amina asked.

"TELL ME THAT I'M READING THIS WRONG MALIK!" I shouted out of anger whilst showing the conversation by holding the phone in front of his face.

"Malik? What is that about?" Amina also asked him.

At least Amina also didn't knew what was going on.

"Wallahi I'm going to kill him!" I said annoyed. I knew now what he was doing the entire time.

"I'm so sorry Safia I..I..."

"YOU! Don't say a word!" I gave him his phone back and left.

I didn't expected one of my friends to keep something this important from me, how could he.. It's a freaking...

"Safia, where are you going?" Amina asked when I left.

"I'm going to find that stubborn jerk" I responded.

*2 hours later*

"Britt? Hey, do you perhaps know where Brody is?" I asked her on the phone.

Her sister must know where he was right?

It was 2 hours later and I still didn't knew where he was. It wasn't only 2 hours later but also a hunderd tears later.

I've been walking around the city with non-stop tears falling down my cheeks.

How can this happen? Why didn't he just tell me what was going on. I would of supported him, I would of been there for him.

"He's at a party a few blocks away from our house. What's wrong Safia?" Britt responded worried.

"Nothing, I'm just looking for him" I said so she would stop asking questions. I wasn't lying, I was really looking for him.

I guess Brody hasn't told his own family either otherwise his mother or sister would of told me.

You know, I would never go to a party but this is an emergency.

I just hope he's there.. God please let him be there.

I arrived at, what seemed like, a party.

Fancy house, loud music and people talking, dancing and kissing.

I entered the house and immediately felt uncomfortable. People were staring at me like I was some alien that had just landed on earth.

"A hijabi at a party? Hell yeah!" I heard a guy shout.

Great, I'm gonna find Brody and get the freak out of this hell-hole.

"Hey, Safia right?" Some guy said when he approached me.

As soon as he did that, a few other guys backed him up by standing next to him.

"I'm only looking for Brody, not interested." I responded. I already have been through a situation like this before, I'm not interested in another one.

"Guys did you hear that? She's not interested.. Since when do we care when a girl is not interested huh?!" The guy said making everyone cheer as a confirmation.

"Back off Samual, not cool bro." Another guy, who I have never seen before, said.

"Don't you dare play the good guy now Rasheed." The Samual guy responded.

Okay so his name is Samual?

"Thank you, but I can handle myself." And I meant it, I have experience on everything that included jerks.

"Fine." Rasheed said and left.

"Okay Samual, I have no idea who you are and to be honest, I don't really care.. So why don't you or someone else just tell me where I can find Brody instead of being a giant douche." I was pretty mad at this moment.

Everyone looked shocked when I said what I said, whatever.. I'm known as the girl with the big mouth after all.

"I'm here." Brody responded standing between that Samual guy and me. He faced me and everybody was still staring at us. "What do you want?" Brody asked.

"Can we talk?" I asked "In private." I said looking at the crowd.

"Not interested." Brody responded.

I could smell the alcohol in the room, but I could also smell it in his breath, he has been drinking.. I thought he stopped?

"Bro, if you're not interested.. I would gladly take her to my room." Samual responded.

Disgusting.

Even though Brody was drunk, I saw that he was getting mad at what Samual was saying.

"I mean, I've heard she's pretty good in bed." He finished.

Brody was still looking at me with his back towards Samual and the crowd but he was listening at what Samual was saying.

"Safia, can you please go." Brody said still trying to not tackle the heck out of this guy.

I nodded and did what he said. I was getting scared and wouldn't want any problems.

But as I was walking away Samual grabbed my arm.

"Let me go!" I shouted.

"Sam, let her go.." Brody said in a calming way.

Samual looked at him, his smile was turned into a serious face.

"NOW!" Brody shouted whilst balding his fists.

"Or what?" Samual asked taking a step forward.

"Brody, stay calm please." I said. I didn't want him to be in any trouble with the police again.

Samual was still holding on to me.

"I mean, why would I do that? You're clearly not in.." He couldn't even finish his sentence or Brody punched him right in the face.

Samual fell on the ground and his fall released me from his grip. He stood up immediately.

"You're going to regret that son." Samual said whilst cleaning the blood off his mouth.

They both started fighting and because Brody was clearly more drunk than Samual, Brody was losing.

The crowd backed up Samual by shouting whilst I tried to make them stop by trying to pull Samual from Brody. But I wasn't strong enough..

What do I do now? I can't come in between them or I'll be the one to get punched. But I can't also call the cops..

As I was crying because I ran out of ideas and saw Brody bleeding more and more, the guy from earlier and his friends came in between them.

Samual backed away but Brody didn't stood up.

"That's what you get dick." Samual said after he spat on him.

"Okay, back off." Rasheed said pushing him back.

"Or what?"

"Or I'll make sure you'll never walk again." Rasheed said furious.

His mates backed him up after they helped Brody up.

They were with 5 of them, all looking like they were originally from the Middle East.

The crowd continued dancing and left Samual on his own.

When I thought it was finally over, Samual wispered something which made them all angry.

Rasheed punched Samual which made him fall on the ground and the rest of his mates kicked him to finish it off.

Rasheed calmed them down and turned to Brody and asked him if he was alright.

Brody nodded and Rasheed turned back and faced me.

"You're a great friend, but don't come to parties like these again.. Now take him home." He said.

I nodded and swang Brody's arm around my neck so I could take him home.

"You hijabi, this guy is more included in your li..." Samual said as he stood up but Rasheed punched him again before he could even finish his sentence.

What does he mean? What was he about to say? Am I supposed to know that Rasheed guy? Anyway, Brody is my priority now.

"I don't have a car so we have to walk home." I said but I don't think Brody even heard me.

"My-m-my car" Brody said. I could barely understand him, he was that drunk.

"You'll have to get it in the morning, let's take you home now." I responded.

We were walking home and could barely hold him up. I didn't have the strength.

We finally arrived home and I dropped all of his stuff in his room.

Thank God he had a key otherwise his mom would of asked me alot of questions.

Britt woke up because of the noise but understood when she saw me practically drag Brody up the stairs.

His mother probably had a rough day, so she was fast a sleep.

"Here you go." I said when I dropped him on the bed.

I took his shirt off and tucked him in.

I looked at him for a few seconds before I left his room.

"Why would you do something like this to yourself? We'll talk tomorrow.. And even though you're a jerk, I still love you." I whispered and left.

He didn't heard a word I said, he was drunk, tired and also fast a sleep.
