My parents may have been happy that I had finally dumped Wesley, but I soon learnt at the cafeteria table during lunch that some people, however, were not on the same page...

"What do you mean you broke up Wesley?" Logan frowned as the rest of the table gasped, Logan's followers were sitting with us today- much to the annoyance of Roxanne, Blanca, and me.

"Logan I'm not in the mood to discuss my love life in public." I groaned and she cocked her eyebrow in confusion before realization dawned on her face.

"Oooh." She laughed before switching to her serious face and turning to her little shadows. "Sofia, Danika, would you mind leaving so we could talk to Cris?" She said nicely but the tone in her voice left no room for arguments and Sofia and Danika's faces dropped.

"What?! No! We can't leave now; Cris is ruining her life!" Sofia exclaimed before Danika turned to me.

"You can't seriously be breaking up with the hottest guy in school, are you like actually insane?!" She argued and out of the corner of my eye I could see Blanca roll her eyes.

"Listen, ladies, this situation is none of your fucking business, so butt out," Blanca warned but her scary tone and threatening eyes didn't seem to deter them either.

"Logan she can't be serious!" Danika whined and Roxanne answered before Logan had the chance.

"She said leave," Roxanne emphasized. "Or do you two not understand English?" She asked condescendingly and they both turned red in embarrassment as they told Logan they'd see her at practice before they got up and left, occasionally glancing back at us with scowls on their face as they walked to another table. However, by the way, they were talking to their friends I knew that they were probably telling them about me and my "insane" decision that is going to "ruin my life".

Idiots.

"Why do you always have to be so mean to them, guys? They're our teammates." Logan sighed and Blanca scoffed before replying.

"Those girls are rude; we all know they only sit here with us, so they get information and talk shit about us later." Blanca pointed out and Logan sighed in agreement, she probably remembered the time those same "teammates" absolutely humiliated her last year when a senior she was talking to, posted her nudes when she broke up with him.

Thankfully, Logan and her family sued a Rolex out of him.

"You're rude too," Logan argued lamely and Blanca slid over other and wrapped an arm around her as she leaned her head on her shoulder.

"I know, but I never said I wasn't." She sympathized as we laughed.

"Okay now that Thing One and Thing Two are gone, spill," Roxanne smirked at me, bringing our conversation back on track- so I spent the next ten minutes explaining to them exactly what happened at the restaurant.

I had conveniently left out the part where Haydn basically made my heart continuously stop and start the whole night. I wasn't ashamed of her of my attraction to her (my friends knew I was into girls just as much as guys) but after having such a public relationship with Wesley I wasn't about to let what others thought dictate my emotions again, especially when it came to who I want to be with.

"Oh my god finally!" Roxanne exclaimed in relief, and I frowned.

"You didn't like Wesley?" I asked in shock and Blanca burst out laughing.

"Of course not! Bitch, no one liked Wesley." She laughed and I turned to Logan who shrugged with a blush.

"Well, he was kind of a dick."

"Kind of?" Roxanne laughed and Logan cracked a smile. "The guy can give a dildo a run for its money, do you understand how difficult that is to do?"

"Well, why didn't anyone say anything?" I sighed in annoyance and Logan laughed as she came to sit on the other side of me and hugged me as she leaned her head on my shoulder.

"Cris, you had so many people telling you what to do and how you should feel about him- we just didn't want to add to that." She explained and Roxanne mirrored Logan's movements as she agreed.

"Now I feel left out," Blanca complained as she also came to the side and sat next to Roxanne before adding to the hug.

"Thanks, guys." I smiled; I knew I was very lucky to have these people in my life. "Do you know I didn't have a single orgasm in that relationship?" I complained, completely ruining the moment as we all burst out laughing.

"Oh my god, we really had a group hug in the middle of the fucking cafeteria, weird bitches." Blanca joked as she got up and moved back to her side, Logan moving as well.

We continued to laugh and joke for a while, and it was only when things started to settle down that I noticed I could feel someone looking at me. At first, I thought it was Wesley, but he wasn't at school today, I heard through the grapevine something about an extra practice before a game. However, when I finally looked up in the direction of the person, I couldn't help the blush that spread over my cheeks as we made eye contact.

Sitting on top of a table a few tables away from us was none other than Haydn Moreno, she had left her wavy black hair tied in her signature ponytail and was dressed in a faded black band shirt, tight black jeans, and black Doc Martens. Even though we were quite a distance away I could still see a slight smirk on her face as she looked at me, surrounded by all her friends as they talked animatedly to each other, she wasn't even doing anything interesting, but she captivated my attention, and I didn't want to look away from her.

"Hey, earth to Cris?" Roxanne asked, waving her hand in front of my face and I was immediately thrown back into reality.

"Huh?" I asked as I turned to meet her shocked expression.

"Dude, did you seriously not hear the bell ring?" She asked and only then did I notice that everyone was standing up and moving to their classes.

"Oh shit, sorry." I blushed as I stood up and together with Blanca, we walked through the cream hallways to our AP biology class where I could finally get my mind off of Haydn- or so I thought.

Our AP biology teacher, Mr. Patel, was a short, pudgy man with a bald head and glasses but we found that he could be the funniest and most brilliant teacher we had in school and normally I would consider him to be one of my favorite teachers. However, that day I was pretty sure that he was sent by whatever deity that sat in the clouds to personally ruin my life.

"A schedule change you say?" He mused as he inspected the letter Haydn had just handed him. "Well, okay Miss Moreno, feel free to take a seat and we will begin today's lesson."

"Thanks." She nodded before she walked down an aisle and sat in one of the six empty chairs in class- this one happened to be two seats behind me on my right and I thought the day couldn't get any worse.

"Okay guys now that everyone has settled down, I think now is the perfect time for a surprise quiz, just to see the level you're at." Mr. Patel stated proudly as the class erupted into groans and I lay my head on my desk. I was wrong, my day could get worse.

I knew biology wasn't exactly my best subject, but I did the quiz anyway and as soon as the bell rang, I sprang from my chair, not even bothering to wait for Blanca as I left. It wasn't long before I felt someone walking next to me and as I was about to turn and complain to Blanca, they spoke.

"Your friends seem happy about your decision," Haydn said as we walked in sync, and it took me three whole seconds to register what was happening.

"Huh? Oh, yeah." I laughed a little awkwardly. "They were quarter to throwing a party in the middle of the cafeteria," I joked, and she smiled a little- not her usual smirk but an actual fucking smile and I swear to heaven above that I nearly died right then and there. "Although, others are very vocal about this being the biggest mistake I could have ever made, apparently I've ruined my life," I added, and she shook her head.

"Don't worry, you're young- you've still got plenty of time to ruin your life." She said as we came to a stop next to my locker. "Well, I'm glad you're okay Cristina, I'll see you around." She said before continuing to walk down the hall and it took me a few long seconds to calm my beating heart as I rested my head on my locker with a groan. I was such an awkward mess around her, which sucked since normally I was the one who made others nervous.

"Oh my god, you slut." Logan laughed from next to me and I jumped in surprise.

"What?! Why?" I frowned and she laughed harder.

"I saw you walking down the hall with Haydn Moreno." She smirked as she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively and I rolled my eyes as I exchanged books.

"We were just talking about biology," I said with a shrug as I lamely attempted to give her an explanation, but Logan was not buying it as she scoffed.

"Yeah, okay." She said condescendingly as we walked to English together. "How long have you and Wesley been broken up for? Six hours?" She laughed and I rolled my eyes.

"Actually, it's been like eighty." I huffed and she laughed so more.

"You move on fast don't you." She winked and I ignored her.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," I said in defense, but I knew she was just joking and I didn't really care.

I took a seat at my designated desk and turned my attention to our English teacher, Miss Walker, as she started to explain our literature essay. English was one of my favorite subjects, words had always come easily to me.

"So today we are going to talk about the theme of love and marriage in the novel we're discussing and why this is so critical in the narrative the author is trying to convey." She started and I grinned, I knew I'd be good at it- I was a romantic.
