I ALMOST FUCKED EVERYTHING UP.

I almost kissed her. I almost kissed the girl who has no feelings towards me whatsoever. I'm thankful that Xavier broke up apart before I did something stupid.

But there is a small part of me that angry that he broke us apart. I wanted to kiss her. I have been in love with the girl for almost a decade and she has no idea.

She doesn't know how much I want her. And I want her.

Besides the past two years, I know everything about her. I know the littlest stuff that she probably doesn't even know herself. Like, for instance, whenever she concentrates on something, there is a small crease that forms between her eyebrows. Or like whenever she smiles, her whole face just glows.

"Dude, are you even listening to me?" Xavier asked before throwing a grape at me. It hit me in the face, and I glared at him.

"What?" I asked him, glaring.

"I was saying that your girlfriend just walked into the room," Xavier replied, gesturing to the doorway of the lunchroom.

I turned around to look, and sure enough, Leah was walking in the entrance with Vanessa beside her. She was laughing at something Vanessa said.

My heart fluttered at the sight, and then we made eye contact. Leah's laughter died down, and she smiled at me.

That damn smile.

My whole body felt warm and fuzzy at that smile, and I didn't want that feeling to go away. I gave her a half smile, and she started walking over to me.

Once Leah made it to our table along with Vanessa, I pushed her a chair out so she could sit. Xavier waved at her, and she smiled at him too.

Jealousy ran throughout my body, and I scowled at him. I know Xavier would never do anything with Leah because he was the first person I told whenever I developed feelings for her. He knew that she was off limits, and he wouldn't dare cross that line.

Xavier just smirked at me. Leah and Vanessa didn't catch on to our silent conversation. They were eating their lunch.

Then Jake slid in next to me, and Eliza sat down next to him.

"What are these two doing here?" Eliza asked, glaring at Leah and Vanessa.

"Leah and Vanessa will be seating with us from now on," I answered, causally, as I moved my arm so it was sitting on the back of Leah's chair.

"Oh so because you are fucking slut Barbie over there means she can join our group?" Eliza asked with a scoff.

Leah tensed up, and I started to draw small circles on her back with my thumb. She seemed to relax, and I return my attention towards Eliza.

Anger burned through my veins, and I scowled at Eliza. No one is going to speak about Leah like that. I don't care if it's a man or a woman.

"I mean, that's how you got in, right?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. "The only reason you are sitting here is because you and Jake are fucking. Believe me, whenever your relationship fails, you will be outta here without a second to spare."

"Joshua, shut up," Jake said with a glare of his own.

"Just telling her the truth," I snapped back at him.

"Well, you don't have to be a complete ass."

"Well, she shouldn't call my girlfriend a slut," I responded at him before glaring at Eliza. "Do it again, and I'll end you. Now apologize."

For the briefest second, Eliza look petrified. But she covered it up with a roll of her eyes.

"Sorry, blondie," she apologized, not sounding sincere at all.

Leah didn't say anything, but she gave her a nod.

My jaw tightened, and I continued to draw small circles on her back to keep myself calm. Usually, I can deal with Eliza's comments about other people, but when it's comes to Leah, I will come unglued faster than you can blink.

Leah already has enough shit going on with Asher and Brooke. She doesn't need people like Eliza to deal with as well.

"So are we still on for next weekend?"Jake asked after a moment of silence.

I know what he is talking about. The street race is coming up next weekend, and I am suppose to be in it.

Yes, I street race. Sue me.

There is a reason behind it, and only Xavier knows why. And yeah it's fun and exhilarating, but that's not the reason I do it.

Xavier looked over at me, and I nodded. Then Xavier nodded as well.

"Great. Do you two want to come?" Jake asked Leah and Vanessa before popping a fry in his mouth.

My eyes widen. Like fucking hell Leah is coming next weekend. I rather chop my hand off then let her go to a race. People get drunk and fights break out within a second.

And then there is the fact that men get touchy, and I be damned if Leah gets thrown into that.

"Uh...what exactly is it?" Leah asked, curious, before taking a sip of her water.

"It doesn't fucking matter because you aren't fucking going," I answered before Jake could open his mouth.

"Aw, Joshua," Eliza said with a fake pout. "I think Leah can make her own decisions. Can't you, blondie?"

I glared at Eliza before looking back towards Leah. She looked hesitant, and she thinking about her choices.

"I mean, if it's fun, then yeah, sure," Leah replied with a fake smile.

But I knew she was lying. She looked uncomfortable, and I was going to kill Jake and Eliza for bringing it up.

"I'm in too. If Leah is going, then you bet your ass I'm going to be right behind her," Vanessa said with a bright smile.

Xavier's eyes widen, and I know he was thinking the same thing I was. These two girls should not be at a dangerous and illegal street race.

Hell I shouldn't be anywhere near it, but it's the only way to reach my fucking goal.

To get out of my father's house.

My home life was shit my whole life, but it got even worse after my mother passed away. She was my only escape, and that ended when she died.

"Well then, I guess it's decided. Leah and Vanessa will be coming with us next Saturday night," Jake said, smiling, as he wrapped an arm around Eliza's waist.

I rolled my eyes in annoyance, and I looked back over to Leah to see her deep in thought. She was bouncing her foot, anxiously, and I removed my arm from the back of her chair.

I sat my hand on her bouncing thigh to calm her down. I made sure it was an appropriate spot because I didn't want to make her even more uncomfortable. She instantly stopped bouncing her leg, and her cheeks were a light pink.

Then, as the rest of the group were in a deep conversation, she wrapped her arms around my arm before resting her head on my upper arm.

My whole body lit up in sparks, and I smiled at myself. I rarely smile, but this girl is making my body react in ways no girl has ever done.

God, this girl is going to be the death of me.
