Aubrey POV

Violet Grace was the best thing that has ever happened to me. She was just a wonderful child. She was turning two in a few months. She knew how to walk and was quite smart for her age. She was a chatter box. She hardly looked like me, she was the spitting image of her father.

I hired a babysitter to take care of my babygirl when I was at work. There was going to be a charity event today for the hospital. Dr. Gellar made me promise I was going. He wanted me to talk about the pediatrics program. I told him no but I knew the program was important. I eventually told him yes. I made sure to ask if Mr. Moretti was going to attend. He said no, he was to busy to show up to these things, he was always invited but never showed up to these things. I was definitely relived.

I was getting ready for the event. Just then my babysitter called. She had to cancel on me because her mother became ill. Oh no what was I going to do? I called Dr. Gellar but he said he didn't care, he wanted me at that event. I sighed, "it looks like your coming with me babygirl." I said.

"Where mama?" She asked.

"Mommy is taking you to work today." I said.

"Yay. No babysitter" she said smiling at me. She has the most adorable smile ever. She was such a sociable baby. She was definitely going to be different than her mom.

I put her in the cutest dress she had along with some little black shoes. She looked simply adorable.

I called an Uber and got to the event.  It was being held at some fancy hotel. I got out of the Uber and headed inside. The reception was being held on the roof top. I carried Violet into the elevator. She insisted on being put down. She would always tell me she was a big girl. I put her down and the elevator door opened. Violet ran out, unfortunately we weren't on the roof yet.

I ran after her. "Violet get back here!" I yelled. We were on the 20th floor. There were rooms all around us. From what I could tell these were VIP rooms. I continued to run after Violet. A man stopped her. He had his back to me. "Violet there you are. Don't ever do that to me again. Thanks for stopping her" I said to the guy in a Tuxedo and I grabbed Violet's hand.

The man turned around and I was ice cold. "Aubrey." He said.

"Alessandro" I whispered. I froze on the spot. We looked at each other. Then I snapped out of it. "I have to go" I carried Violet in my arms and I walked as fast as I could to the elevator.

"Wait" Alessandro said keeping up with my pace.

I ignored him and continued to walk. "I have somewhere I need to be." I said not looking at him and pressing on the elevator button.

"The charity event I know. That's where I'm headed." He said. The elevator door opened and I walked in, unfortunately Alessandro walked in as well. "Who is this little girl?" He asked.

Violet kept staring at Alessandro and before I could answer she asked. "Momma who is this man?"

I was dumbstruck. "Momma?" Alessandro said looking at me. "This is your daughter?" He asked me with wide eyes.

"Yes this is my momma. Who are you?" She asked.

"Violet, what did I say about interrupting adults" I said sternly.

"Sorry momma." She said hugging me.

"It's ok, he's just a very important man who works in the hospital where mommy works ok." I told Violet. Just then the elevator doors opened. I rushed out of there.

"Aubrey wait" I heard Alessandro call after me. He grabbed my arm.

"Mr. Moretti, I'm a bit busy at the moment and I sure you have some business to attend to so please excuse me" I said releasing my arm from his. I ran to the other side of the room and saw Gellar.

"Dr. Emerson I didn't expect you to bring your daughter with you." He said.

"Well you wanted me here. I'm told you my babysitter canceled." I said.

"It's fine. You are talking to people about the pediatrics program so having a baby here isn't bad I guess. Just make sure she doesn't start crying" he said.

I really wanted to stick my tongue out at him. He walked away and I saw Sandra.

"Hey. What's my beautiful goddaughter doing here?"she asked me.

"Aunt Sandy!" Violet exclaimed. Sandy held her arms out and carried Violet.

"Well Gellar said he wanted me here, my babysitter called out and I had nowhere to leave Violet." I said.

"You should of asked your hot neighbor." Sandy said winking at me.

"I already told you. He's just a friend" our old neighbors moved out of their apartment last year. That's when we got new neighbor. His name is Kevin. He's been very nice to Violet and I. He loves kids and lives with his sister and 3 year old niece, Marie. Marie and Violet were best friends. So Kevin and I would take them on play dates and we became friends. He's helped me do a lot of things around my apartment. Violet really likes him. When Sandra saw him she described him as a hunksicle, whatever that means. "And he's out of town with his niece and sister for the week." I said.

"Aww that's too bad, it would of been a perfect excuse for you guys to "talk" she said emphasized and winked at me. I rolled my eyes. Sandy thinks Kevin and I would make a good couple. We were just friends.

"Stop it. I need your help. Moretti is here" I whispered. Her eyes widened.

"I thought Gellar said he wasn't going to be here. He's never here" she said.

"Yeah well here's here today and he saw Violet here." I said pointing to my daughter.

"Oh crap" she said.

"Language." I said.

"Sorry. What are you going to do?" Well I need you to help me if he comes near me. I can't deal with that right now" I said.

"Deal with what mama?" Violet asked.

"Nothing sweetheart. It's just adult talk." I said.

"You know I'm here for whatever you need me." Sandy said.

Gellar came up to us. "Dr. Emerson, some people want to talk about you and the program you worked with in Italy." He turned to Sandra. "You don't mind babysitting for a second would you?" He asked Sandra.

"Sure" Sandy said. I gave her a worried smiled. She gave me a look saying you can do it.

Sure enough Alessandro was in that group of people. They asked me about the program and what not. I could feel Alessandro staring at me the whole time. I felt so uncomfortable. After the conversation dies down, I turned to Gellar and whispered "it's late Dr. Gellar and my daughter is very tired. I will be heading out now" I said.

"Ok fine" he said.

"Excuse me gentleman" I said and walked away towards Sandra. She was with Ron and a few other colleagues from work. Ron was carrying Violet who fell asleep. "Hey everyone. I'm heading out" I said and carried Violet.

"Emerson your daughter is so adorable. Gellar let you go? You're so lucky" Francine a work colleague said.

"Thanks Francine and Yes he did." I smiled. "See you guys on Monday" I said. "Thanks Sandy!" I said to Sandra.

"You're welcome. Call me tomorrow" she said.

I nodded and ran out of the building. An Uber was waiting for me downstairs and I immediately headed home.
