Cal wasn't going to lie - she loved seeing Grace get all riled up. In spite of being such a prominent bully, Grace was awfully easy to get a rise out of. It was a much cuter look on her, being all flustered and caught up in her emotions. Showed that she was at least partly human.

Their little tutoring session must've annoyed Grace enough to get her off Cal's back when Friday came around. She expected another wave of little antics, but nothing happened. She didn't even see the brunette, or her groupies, all day.

Needless to say, Kenzie and Mark were suspicious of the sudden peace after a week of nonstop harassment. Cal wasn't completely sure what to think of it. Maybe she'll just start avoiding me entirely. After all, Cal doubted the honor student would be absent even for just one day. She seemed to be taking careful measures to not run into Cal.

Cal was making her way outside from 5th period to eat lunch with Kenzie and Mark. Lost in thought about her newfound enemy, she jumped when she felt someone tap on her shoulder. She whirled around to see a small girl with glasses who look strangely familiar. Where did Cal see her before...?

"I'm sorry to bother you," the girl squeaked out.

"Oh!" Cal exclaimed, startling the smaller girl. "You're that girl from the bathroom! The one who was getting bullied by Grace!"

The girl nodded shyly. "I wanted to thank you for helping me that time. I should've said something earlier but I've been too shy to approach you."

Cal smiled at the girl. "No problem. What's your name?" Cal reached out a hand.

The girl hesitantly shook Cal's hand, her cheeks growing red in the process. "Sarah."

"I'm Cal. So, does Grace's posse normally give you a hard time?"

"Yeah," Sarah murmured. "It's like she has a personal vendetta against me."

Oh, Cal knew how that felt.

The poor girl seemed too shy to make friends, and she must be terrified at school because of Grace. Cal honestly felt sorry for the girl...she hated bullies who preyed on the easiest of targets.

"Do you want to eat lunch with me and my friends?" Cal offered. "We sit out by the soccer field."

Sarah looked startled at the invitation. "Oh, no, I'd just be imposing!"

"Oh, come on, it's fine!" Cal grabbed the smaller girl's arm and began hauling her over to the field. "My friends are super cool too."

The girl stopped protesting and they headed over to sit with Kenzie and Mark.

Sarah was quiet and meek, but she wasn't a bad person. Cal learned that her grades were only second in the school behind Grace, and that the bullying started because Grace felt threatened that she would overtake her position. She tried to intimidate Sarah and make her life a living hell to ruin her academic performance.

Honestly, Cal knew that Grace was catty and a mean girl, but she didn't expect her to go so far. Trying to ruin a girl's life for your own academic reputation? Cal didn't care that Grace was going after herself, but to prey on a quiet bookworm like Sarah?

Cal sighed as she left her final class of the day. She was tired of thinking about the ice queen all the time. The girl just kept fenangling her way into every conversation and situation. I need to focus on my friends and catching up on schoolwork.

But any thoughts going through Cal's head were scattered when she rounded the corner of a hallway and stumbled right into someone.

And of course, that someone was Grace.

The brunette glared angrily up at Cal. "Watch where the fuck you're going, Amazon!" she snarled.

Well, I didn't miss this.

Grace didn't seem interested in staying to talk because she swept around Cal to walk by her immediately. But something just wasn't sitting right with Cal...

She grabbed the honor student's arm before she could stomp away. "Hey, I talked to Sarah, the girl you keep harassing."

"Don't touch me!" Grace snatched her arm away from Cal's. Now that Cal was looking at the girl's face, she noticed her eyes were slightly puffy, as if she'd been crying. Before Cal could really process anything, Grace gave her an incredulous look. "Sarah? What about her?"

"She told me about how you keep making her life miserable because you're scared she'll take away your number one spot in the school."

Grace honestly looked confused, in a rather furious way. "What the fuck? You know, you really shouldn't-"

Grace was cut off by a loud ringtone. She quickly fumbled for her phone and looked at the screen. Cal couldn't really understand the expression she was showing in response.

"I-I've got to go," Grace suddenly stated, and she hurried off before Cal could say anything.

Cal stood still for a second, confused at what just happened.

Why did Grace looked like she'd been crying? Why did she react that way when Cal mentioned Sarah? What was up with that phone call? Why did Cal even care about any of this?

Grace was just your typical high school mean girl. All Cal had to do was ignore her and try to prevent her from bullying Sarah anymore. She didn't need to be concerned with the bitch's private life or feelings or anything.

"Ugh," Cal grumbled. "What's going on anymore?"
