I don't know how I lost him, but I did.

My mistake was thinking I was safe after that. I heard a shot and immediately ducked on instinct.

Thankfully it was just Natalie and her aim was completely off.

"No Natalie! Girl power, we're supposed to be teaming up."

"Oh, sorry yeah you're right, you're right. Wait, what about Cyrus? He found me first and asked me to team up too," She replied.

"We find him and betray his ass."

Natalie giggled at the thought. "This is so much fun."

"DUCK!" I shouted after seeing Adam down the hall, aiming straight for her back.

She managed to move out the way before he could take a good aim. We both took cover behind a thick pillar of the hall.

"Come out, come out ladies. I just want to give you a present in the shape of a small foam bullet."

"That's very generous of you Adam," I shouted back, "It's so funny how we're on the same wavelength, I got you the same exact thing!"

I ducked and practically crawled my way over behind a different pillar, telling Natalie to stay put. I heard his footsteps getting closer and closer.

"You know she teamed with Cyrus, right? Which, you know to even out the playing field and all, we should be teaming up too. Don't you think Row?" He called out, not knowing I was close ahead.

I appeared from my hiding spot. "You know what you're right," I said, slightly startling him. "We should be teaming up against those sneaky bastards, shouldn't we Adam?"

"Hell yeah, that's what I'm talking about," he lowered his weapon to dap me up, and that's when I threw a wink towards Natalie.

She nodded her head silently from her hiding place.

As if on cue, we heard Cyrus fast approaching right then. He raised his gun at me, apparently not seeing Adam standing a few feet beside me.

So before Cyrus could release a bullet at me, Adam threw his gun back up and aimed it at Cyrus.

"Not on my teammate you don't." He said to Cyrus who froze with his gun still pointed at me.

That's when Natalie came out of her hiding place and aimed her nerf gun at Adam. I was the last to throw my gun up and now everyone had a weapon pointed at someone else.

We stood there for a tense moment, carefully waiting for someone else to make a move.

"Now Natalie!" and that was all I needed to say before she switched her aim to Cyrus and we started unloading our bullets on the both of them.

"What?!" Cyrus shrieked, "Natalie, how could you? I thought we formed an unbreakable alliance." He started shooting bullets from his own gun, firing at both of us.

"Yeah Rowena tricked me, man," Adam said to Cyrus as he ducked from a bullet and continued firing more at us. "They used their womanly influence to distract us."

After that, It was a fit of yelling and laughing and high-pitched screams, the latter mainly being from Adam, as we jumped and threw ourselves out of the way of flying bullets.

"Hey wait a minute, where's Declan?" Adam asked and I laughed as I held up the extra gun I had been using.

"Still looking for this I assume."

"Yes the fuck I am," Declan shouted from across the hall. "Give it back so we can play fair again."

"That's no fun," I mumbled as Declan quickly made his way over to us. "Quick, you guys I say we team up and shoot Declan on three... THREE!"

They surprisingly all obliged. Declan was hit bullet after bullet as he let out a spew of curses and I couldn't help but laugh harder.

My group effort was quickly destroyed as Natalie accidentally hit Adam in the arm with her bullet, who in turn blamed Cyrus for it, and then Adam shot Cyrus, and then Cyrus shot Natalie, and then the three of them had a war of their own.

But that was okay because I still had two guns to myself and I was still shooting Declan as he got closer.

"Oh, you think this funny, do you?" He asked me as I continued to laugh and pop him with bullet after bullet.

And then one of my guns went empty.

And then the other gun I had went empty right after that.

And then my laughter slowly died down.

"oh," I said quietly against the noise of the others still fighting on their own.

"Rowena," Declan said in a tone of warning before his eyes focused in mischief. "Run."

I did not need to be told twice.

I threw the guns behind me in my lame attempt to put some distance between us as he chased me through the halls and away from the safety of the others. I had forgotten about the bullets that I had stuffed in my pockets, but it was too late now.

I threw myself into one of the rooms, hoping he didn't see which door I went through. I didn't close it, thinking the sound would draw more attention. I quickly tucked myself behind a desk that was still close to the door, just in case I needed to make a quick escape.

I was low enough now to where I could see the bottom of his legs if he were to come.

And he soon did.

"Row Row," He said in a sing-song tone, "You can come out now, I'll go easy on you." I knew that was a lie, considering he was now reloading both guns that I threw to the ground earlier.

I saw his feet walk past the desk I was crouching behind, going further into the classroom and further away from my escape route.

I was going to silently sneak past and leave him in here looking for me.

I stood up halfway from my spot so that I was still able to quickly duck if I needed to. I slowly made my way around the desk as Declan moved towards the teachers work table towards the front of the classroom.

Only a few more steps until I was free to make a run for it once again.

Only I was so focused on keeping my eyes on Declan that I didn't see the book lingering on the very edge of the desk. My elbow ran past it roughly and it slammed against the ground below.

I stood there in shock, and in exhilarating fear as Declan snapped around with a look of triumph on his face.

"Hi," I said softly before reaching down to pick up the book and chucked the book at him. I let out a maniacal laugh as the book managed to knock a gun from one of his hands, but I didn't stick around much longer after that.

His footsteps were fast behind me as we ran once again through the halls. I was just about to turn a corner when I felt his arm wrap around my waist, and my laugh came out as a shriek as he put us both to a stop. I tried to pull myself out of his grip, but he only held on tighter.

Maybe I would have tried harder if I didn't like the way his arms felt around me.

The moment was soon over as he held his nerf gun up at me.

"Wait, no. I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" I heard the others down and shouted for them. "CYRUS, NATALIE, I NEED BACK UP! ADAM GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!"

"There's no escaping it this time Row, fool me once," He said, letting me finish the statement on my own. I could practically hear the evil smile in his words from over my shoulder.

"Any last words before I empty this entire set of foam bullets on you?"

"Yeah, suck my ding-a-ling."

His laugh was the last thing I heard before he gave me a gentle nudge forward and shot me multiple times. I counted exactly three shots before a new voice interrupted.

"Young man, I'm going to have to ask you to lower your nerf gun."

It was a new voice, but I instantly recognized it and my body soon flooded with dread.

"Oh shit," I mumbled.

"Oh, shit is correct Rowena Salone. You think you got some explaining to do?"

I gave an embarrassed smile his way. "Hi, Uncle Lio."
