You know that feeling where you're like ' I know you playing' but you don't actually know if they're playing.

This is what I felt. My hands sweaty, my heart thumping harder than ever.

I was terrified.
My classmates turned one by one to look at me. Me with my hair braided in similar lines to my sister. Me with my brown skin that matched my sister's almost better than anyone especially anyone here. My sister Anya Matata.

"Zulu are you..."

I didn't hear the rest because I had already run off to class. My mind a whirling fiasco.

Seated at my mahogany desk, my mind was far behind to when I last properly held my sister.

It was at our mothers funeral. A short one since our mother didn't have many friends or family as it seemed. That's when I truly almost felt alone. Thankfully just almost.

I wrapped my arms around my sister, tears running down my face.
"We'll be fine." I whispered to her.

Our mother's insurance was enough to ensure we would be able to finish college without any worries.

"They're gone," she whispered. Her eyes were stuck on the black slab of marble that marked our mothers grave. It was filled with Anya's favourite flowers, blue peonies.

"I'm still here, and you have to deal with it." I tried to crack a smile but it just lead to more tears cascading off my face.

"You're so annoying," she smiled bittersweetly.

"Promise to always be here," she asked.

"I swear on my momma's grave." I jested.
She looked at me, slightly horrified.

"Sorry, too soon."
"Well I promise..."

The door to the classroom slammed open and my classmate walked in, cheeks pink and ginger hair wind swept.

"There you are. Aww are you sad about your sister?" Stacy asked in the most God awful way ever.

"No I'm  fine. Its not like my sister's missing."

"It explains a lot though," she continued oblivious as usual," like today at 3 am when I was going to the washroom , I swear the water was red. All bloody and stuff."

This was interesting.

"And the smell at the assembly. Well that's just Edwings Academy for you. Girls go missing faster than Mr Evans marks the bio assignments."

"My sister's not missing." I mumbled more to me than her.

"Like you're father right."

Anger, red hot flashed through me mind but before I could react, Mr Evans walked through the open door.

"Zulu! The principal wants you in her office. Now!"

And for the first time Mr Evans feminine voice was not funny anymore.
